I love how they put so much emphasis on both having more than one camera angle for clashes AND being able to send NP Cs flying with the Schpeltiger. XD

I love how blood is a "new feature".

It is in Japan. Recall that the series is heavily censored there.

I realize that. I just find it hilarious since the blood is one of the most iconic parts of the series and they're only just now getting it. But at least we won't have to deal with the Narm of the censored version anymore.

In all honesty, the added Deathmatch mode and the NMH 2 bosses are the only things I envy about this port. I really couldn't care less about the graphics or being able to make the bike look prettier.

online rankings, plus they retained the easy boss rematch and cutscene rewatch options from Heroes Paradise.

I'm still pissed that as one of the first people to buy into the series, I have the most inferior version of the first game, but apparently that wasn't Suda's decision.

Well, if you have the un-Bowdlerised Wii game, then that's only the second most inferior version.

So, Suda was at E3. Apparently he tested the Wii U. And so, we get these interviews. Or tiny articles, whatever you'd like to call 'em.

Question: why the hell was the Japanese version censored with blood in the first place?

That just seems so backwards.

because blood is less acceptable in japanese games

I haven't cosplayed before, but if I were assured that attractive women would be at an event as NMH characters, I'd be much more likely to cosplay as Nathan Copeland or Death Metal.

Merry Christmas.

^^^^^ A good rule of thumb is that the US is lenient on violence and strict on sex and the rest of the world is lenient on sex and strict on violence.

Okay, I thought that was really good, having a No More Heroes 1.5. It really helped to explain a lot of things. grin

Oh, yeah, about Matt Helms, there's this one trick you can use when he uses the flamethrower. Just go up-close. No, really! His hit-box or whatever you like to call it doesn't cover the area where you stand right next to him. You can just hack away while he's using a flamethrower that's not even hitting you. evil grin

Jasper Batt is a nasty boss, no question. However, it is possible to actually beat the little *bleep* without any damage. Here's the You Tube clip to prove it!

You know how when Shinobu took that one Destroyman's hand and the Destroy Spark didn't affect her? I actually thought at first that her artificial hand insulated her from the attack. But after looking carefully, I found this out: she took out her sword and sliced off his hand before the attack even reached her! She did this so fast no one even saw it happen! Is that Fridge Brilliance or what?

I've also heard it said on the Internet that Sylvia represents the video game designer, Travis represents the video game player, and the fights represent the games Travis plays. You know, I think that theory makes so much sense! I really do! Think about it...the designer and the player often have a complicated and sometimes hostile relationship with each other. The designer wants the player's money and will often leave the player feeling cheated. The designer does get a let of flak from players, and will be left wondering why the players are unhappy when they were only given what they wanted. A lot of games boil down to war games, in which you face an object trying to destroy you and you must destroy the object, plain and simple. Those scenes where Sylvia tells Travis about the bosses he fought...she was giving Word of God explanations for them. Yes, the kind of information that players will be considered lucky if they ever get them. The kind of information that will help players understand just what that one thing in the game they played was about. What do you think about that?

That last one was a pretty popular WMG, if not already confirmed. I'll have to look again at the Shinobu vs Destroyman scene.

I guess you're right! Her sword was sheathed, we hear a noise as she shakes, and then it wasn't.

Yeah, that noise had to be the sound of her slicing off his hand really fast! surprised

Oh, and Matt Helms has another weakness: if he does that horizontal attack and hits a wall, he will be stuck pulling his axe/flamethrower out of the wall. That would be your cue to slash away at him. Sure, it's tricky to get him to hit a wall, but it can really help in beating him. smile

By the way, Margaret has a different theme in the Gibraltarian version of the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnzEnmqVwXQ

I like it better than the American one.

I've heard Margaret's theme song with both versions. I don't know why, but I like the American version better.

It would be interesting if Travis Touchdown was put into Super Smash Bros. I wonder if he would look at the screen and lament to the player about how he's not allowed to swear or create bloody violence in the game. It would make sense, because this is a character that happily shatters The Fourth Wall, and it would be a nice way to communicate to the player that he is no happier about the toning down than he/she is.

What would really be great is if, being the absolute nerd Travis is, he goes into total fanboy mode upon meeting some of the characters, but then gets nerdrage when their movesets aren't what he expected. I wonder if they could work the Schpeltiger somewhere in his moveset...

Well, that motorcycle of his could be used as a Final Smash move, where he...drives across different parts of the screen and sends his hapless opponents flying! [lol]

By the way, did anyone figure out that the strange man who appeared at Bishop's grave is Takashi Miike, who could be considered Japan's equivalent of Quentin Tarantino? The brilliant part about this is that Bishop was a movie buff, and Miike (first name or last name?) has a reputation for bloody films. So it would stand to reason that he would send twin Beam Katanas to a friend of Bishop's!

I figure he'd do one of his Dark Side Mode skills instead. Turn into a tiger, or Anarchy in the Galaxy.

Yeah, that was figured out shortly after the game came out. He was also referenced in the first game.

If there's one thing I've learned, it's to never underestimate You Tube comments. No, really! Sometimes they will reveal stuff that you might have a hard time finding out about anywhere else!

Take this little gem about Skelter Helter I found from a You Tube comment:

Actually, there is backstory to Helter-Skelter and Skelter-Helter if you've read the No More Heroes Erotica Comic that was included with the NMH 2 Hopper Edition Boxset (released in Japan only). In the comic, it explains how Skelter-Helter was a scholar attending university, of which his older brother was paying for with his assassin money. When Skelter-Helter found out his brother was killed by Travis, Slyvia seduced him into becoming an assassin like his brother for revenge.

Well, I have to say that Travis is very lucky that Sylvia is trying to help him in her own way, because she could probably kill him anytime she wanted to! This also shows one of the problems with No Export for You - you miss out on stuff that actually helps you to understand what the #e11 is going on at some points in the game! At least we can thank You Tube comments for revealing secrets like this! evil grin

Figured I might bring this up to post 300 before I considered dropping it from my watchlist.

No one has heard anything about the Android and iOS game World Ranker coming to U.S., right?
