Huh, my dwarves ran out of food. Well, I'll just have to- Wait, what are you doing? No, DON'T-
They ate the war Harpies!
Didn't expect that.
Nothing to hunt or fish? No water for a garden? Lots of animals like dogs and cats perhaps?
I have been thinking about modding the Bronze Colossus to have the stats of say the giant instead so I do not spend an hour hacking away at the damn thing.

Who watches the watchmen? Is it possible to work other races into your military?
Supposedly there is a way but it there are "issues" because it is basically a mod that does it for you otherwise you are dwarfs period.
Who watches the watchmen?@Dr Rockopolis: I believe that was dragonfire, not magma.
Ah. My mistake.
I've got one grizzly, but now the elves won't bring the any more; I need a breeding pair. Did they only have one bear?
[[tvtropes.org/pmwiki/lb_i.php?lb_id=12919183980B30760200 Liveblog of]] John Carter Of MarsThey keep bringing them from time to time. We have 3 or 4 grizzes now. It was a fair amount of time in between though. IF they start bringing nothing but cloth do something to piss them off a bit but not start a war.
Who watches the watchmen? These goblins are attacking me like once or twice a season now and taking heavy casualties every time. I don't know why they keep coming back. This last one was the only relatively successful siege they pulled since thye destroyed the incoming caravan (i hadn't seen one for like a year, but everything was more or less self sufficient so trading would've just been nice rather than needed) and killed about 15 dwarves who were moving things.
But at least it means my cages are full, and I carved out an area over the pit of death so that after prisoners get thrown in and fall 6 z-levels, my crossbowmen can get some live training in.
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterWasn't that just a rumor?
Every time I have really happy elves I get a bunch of cloth and thread. So far it holds true. When they are somewhere between happy and pissed they bring me less cloth and thread. It netted us breeding pairs of cougars and 4 grizzly bears.
Who watches the watchmen? We reprogrammed them into war grizzlies for our cause. that being making invaders die horribly. My wife is in the second year of her two year turn and has repelled a 3 wave invasion. 20 assorted goblins some on those salamander mounts, some lashers/mace/hammer gobbos, and a wave of about 20 trolls. Our cages are getting rather full. I am filling the bottom of my pit with weapon traps instead of upright spikes too many enemies are not dieing horribly enough. our goal is to get the fort far enough to possibly get a dungeon master.
Who watches the watchmen?Just use your death pit as an archery range to train up the peasants. I'm actually kind of annoyed that I've had almost a year of no attacks because my cages are no longer full and my archers aren't training as fast as the danger room melee guys.
(I have 20 axe lords and 10 hammer lords in case the goblins manage to break through my thick defenses or some sneak in or something)
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterAccording to Quietust, who removed a reference to that on the trope page, that wasn't actually true and they're actually bringing lots of cloth because you have very little yourself.
are... are there elf spies in my stockpiles?
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterFrom what I've heard, all you have to do is change their anatomy so they have blood. Right now, the Bronze Colossus is literally solid metal and cannot die by bleeding out.
Maybe they can have magma for blood? Or maybe molten copper, that makes sense too.

They assed first. I am only retaliating in an ass way. -The Dead Man's LifeHow can their blood be molten copper if melting them kills them?
Maybe you can try giving them bones or joints made of a more brittle material, so cutting their limbs apart isn't literally like trying to split apart metal columns.
Or just give them a thought center for movement so head attacks besides decapitation will do something.
That might be an interesting mod I will have to see what I can do. Time to hit the modding tutorial again. The stat switch leaving the reference points that let the game call it up and refer to it as the Bronze Colossus is easier.
I will stick with stat switch until I figure out how to give it blood. I like the idea of it bleeding hot water, magma, or even molten metal. You severely wound it and it starts gushing steam, oozing burning magma(wouldn't this possibly destroy it?), or leaking hot metal. God fighting it might be a bit hazardous but amusing.
We could make the blood a material that melts at a lower temperature then bronze that way it doesn't just simply melt him. Bones and joints might be a good idea too. Hell we could do all of the above.
Any other ideas i can use as a time killer trying to tweak the beast from hell?

Who watches the watchmen?Make him out of adamantite?
As for a metal with a lower melting point for their blood, how about Tin? It's one of the components of Bronze, and has a melting point 1451 degrees Urist/Rankine/Fahrenheit lower.
Then it wouldn't be a bronze colossus.
People have suggested colossi made of other materials before, and it was generally agreed an adamantine colossus would need claws or such to be a real threat.
Some actually made a slade colossus, and another guy made another one and several other colossi (and dragons).

Awesome. I will have to look at what they did for their creations might be fun to see. Tin would be a good metal and it makes part of bronze so it makes sense. Make the bones of the other component of bronze.

Who watches the watchmen?Maybe you could make the different solids parts of its body out of different kinds of bronze, since there's three kinds: black bronze, bismuth bronze, and regular bronze.
Interesting idea. This will require some work to set up correctly. I might end up making the bastard tough but once you start hurting it you really start hurting it. I think it is doable but I am going to have to poke around the forum for how to get it set up correctly. Admantium Colossus...I want something I can beat not something that kills mega forts singlehandedly.
Who watches the watchmen?
I did. I was waiting for the magma to drain so my dwarves could path to the goblinite since I made the mistake of having a one-wide chokepoint.
