I figured it was just a set-up, but she seemed like she was planning something. Maybe that'll be a part of the twist at the season finale.
RISEAm I the only one in this thread who actually likes Meg?
Nope. I do worry that they@re taking her too far down the Ruby road, but Castiel's influence should alter this plotline.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.I think Meg is just... Meg. Ruby actually said she was on the brother's side and did her best to make friends with them. However, Meg outrights states 'I need you guys to live, I don't like it but there you go' and is an outright bitch to them.
Can I just say, the ending of the most recent episode was so great. It is one of my favourite 'monster VS monster' moments in the entire series, just because how simply they kill angels. Just a fist in the chest and filling them with black goo. The other one tries to use his powers, but just... wow the same fate.
"Rock beats scissors"indeed. And can't forget the shit eating grin he gives.

Inspirational quote against powerful image of nature.im not sure, but isnt a sicle which dean picks up in scene with kevin the deaths sicle? if so, how did they get it back, i missed something? and also, if it is, why havent they tried it on leviatans? it was said to be able to kill everything..
Just saw the Felicia Day episode. Am I the only one who thinks she was like a bad self-insert fanfic character? "OH LOOK AT ME I'M SUCH A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE! LET'S SEE HOW MUCH OF THIS EPISODE I CAN WASTE TRYING WAY TOO FUCKING HARD TO BE 'ADORKABLE'!"
They were trying a bit hard, but she wasn't terrible.
I note she was touched by a leviathan, and they highlighted that touch. Has Ms. Day been confirmed for a second episode? Because if so, we know what's coming.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyYeah, she was a blatant Mary Sue.
She was totally flawed. Shy, scared, and they broke her leg.
...arm? I forget.
Those aren't traits that break a Mary Sue though. Those are often traits to reinforce suedom. Particuarly the scared part. It's all part of the moe-ness!
Though I guess that that's largely undercut by the fact that the show is Supernatural, which doesn't play to that crowd. But still... she really struck me as just a little too perfect.
"An implausibly flawless/competent idealized character."...
Competent, maybe. But Dick wanted a good hacker.
It's not about her being too perfect. It's about the show going out of it's way to show her off for no good reason. It's about stupid scenes like her dancing in the elevator that waste running time when there's actual plot and main characters that could use it. It's about trying to use excessive quirkiness to make a fairly one-dimensional character interesting.
And she was an exceptional hacker. With some Genre Savvy. But she didn't really do any of the stuff expected of this show.
that's not really Mary Sue, though.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyShe gave a little light to the ever-darkening abyss that is Supernatural. XD
I figured that the idea was to show the contrast. Demonstrate how someone's sweet life is swiftly ruined once you get involved with monsters.
Which means she was absolutely perfect in it.
Technically, lives are ruined when they get involved with the Winchesters.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyEither/or.
Actually, who was that one hunter guy who seemed to have it pretty well? He gets thrown by a Shoujo and comes away smiling. And didn't seem too bothered beforehand.
Actually, it's more along the lines of the original definition than how people use it today.
She's an OC character that steals the spotlight from the main characters and gets excessive "characterization" that comes in the form of throwing as many "cool" things as the author can think of onto the character. She's exactly what I'd expect if a fanfic writer sat down to write an episode with their "totally cool hacker OC".
Mary Sues often being too perfect is just a symptom, not the underlining problem.
EDIT: Oh, and don't forget all of the characters fawning over her.

Think it'd be any different if she was a guy then?
The happy-go-lucky redhead who sings "I'm Walking On Sunshine" and flirts with a security guard...? ;p
The show kind of died for me with Jo. I miss hoping in every episode that she would be included for even just a bit, so I had an excuse to stare at her.
So booootiful.
Never pegged you to be that way, Bark :P
You didn't think Bark had taste?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyRowr rowr. Catty bunch.
I'm a skeptical squirrelActually, come to think of it, I guess I kind of view Barkey in a way similar to how I view Dean.
Maybe he views me like he views Sam for that matter. We were having a discussion in another thread that somehow seems similar.
What was catty? I was just saying Jo is hot.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy
I actually thought Meg was gonna betray the boys (too bad she just ended up ACCIDENTALLY screwing them over), so I was pleased that it was all a set-up on her part.
