I'd rather they wrapped up Thugnificent's character in a good episode, but I'll shut up now.

The first episode of season 3 had 2 million viewers, which is pretty damn good for a show on that late on cable. I hope they didn't lose too much market share with this last episode.

I actually liked last weeks episode more than the premiere. I saw it less about being about Thugnificant and more of a Take That! at the present day rap industry and its habit of being comprised of talentless hacks who succeed by appealing to the Lowest Common Denominator. My favorite line:

If that's the case, then I can see how that'd make for a weak episode.

I'm not getting all the hate for the latest episode.

it was okay, but I'm worried that the success of the first two seasons will make this one more of the same.

The Gentleman Crackhead really saved the episode for me.

Sir, your crack is defective. I paid good money for good crack, not this worthless slob. Either provide a more suitable dosage or a full refund, or I shall take my business to some place more reputable.

"hate" is a bit too strong a word. I didn't like it much compared to really powerful stuff like Return Of The King or hilariously audacious stuff like The S-Word, but Boondocks on its worst day is still better than 95% of Family Guy.

I can't wait to see the next episode. According to the preview it looks like it's gonna pay homage to the Baseball episode of Samurai Champloo, but in the The Boondocks unique style. Basically it's gonna be Kickball taken Up To Eleven.

Perhaps at the Adult Swim site still?

Anyways, last night's episode was a lot better than the Thugnificent thing. While somewhat of a tortured metaphor for our Iraq/Afghanistan wars, I still loved the Shaolin Soccer-style action.

Also, I was just glad to finally have a Huey-centric episode; it seems like the first since Home Alone. The Bilingual Backfire of the Chinese team was brilliant, and it makes perfect sense, given Huey's love of kung fu movies and martial arts in general. The resulting He's Back is the episode's C Mo A... which is actually pretty impressive, given the Dragon Ball-style action at the end.

That was a great episode. That Bilingual Backfire was hilarious, the interaction with Wuncler and Wong was also hilarious, and the action at the end was great.

Although, I don't see the bit about it being a metaphor.

me either. I thought the analogy was a bit more obvious, and applied to don't make stupid business gambles. Also, it was more of an Excuse Plot for a homage episode.

What do you guys think of my new avatar?

Oh, and this being the second sports episode, I finally noticed that Woodcrest's team colors being green and gold may be a Visual Pun for money.

and why is Huey such a quitter this season?

and why is Huey such a quitter this season?

Short Answer: He's retired.

Long Answer: After two seasons of idiocy he's completely fed up. He needs some way to get over himself and take it easy. Maybe a foil of some sort who can share his views while also being unafraid of lampooning them. Now where could we find a character like that..?

Wait, you didn't notice that Wuncler said, of his insane gambling of their very town, "Maybe it was a stupid thing to do, but we're Americans; when we do the wrong thing, we just keep doing it until it becomes the right thing"... Which is essentially what we did in Iraq? Or the fact that, despite winning the game, the Woodcrestians (i.e. Americans) were all beat to hell, and essentially had nothing to show for it?

Hell, the Blackwater ringers even abandoned them to go to Afghanistan, I thought that was clear enough.

^^^ That line was likely a reference to it and all the other times we've done that, but it's very unlikely that the whole episode was one bit analogy.

Jeez, it was plain as day to me. Much more blatant than the convenience store holdup in A Date With the Health Inspector.
