Now that the season is over and such, posting comic strips again just to have something to start conversation why not?
Huey caught doing something embarassing... for him, anyway. 5th Dimension is awesome, and they led me to Laura Nyro who is also awesome.
Surprisingly detailed facial expressions (poor Jazmine).
And my favorite moment in the series. Really wish they had put that exchange in the show somehow, but I dunno if there's anyone else they could've had Huey have it with. I could maybe buy Granddad taking Caesar's lines back in the first season... possibly.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Would've been nice to have Caesar, but for someone who didn't read all the comics, he's another reason why the strips are a wholly different thing from the series, and something that can be discovered all over again. Plus, they can be enjoyed without the bad taste season 4 left in my mouth. Thanks for linking them.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyY'know, I think strips like this are a neat comparison between Series and Comic Huey, and would be (or would have been, I suppose) a good place to work with Huey in the show at this point, with or without Caesar. Huey is a cynical Eeyore no matter what the continuity, and it's especially pronounced in the show where he's "retired," can rarely bring himself to care about anything that isn't strictly related to keeping his family from self destructing, and needs wheedling by others to so much as take notice of the world outside his mind.
Episodes like the Season 3 Finale show that he's internalized the idea that the world just isn't worth it and that it's best to give up unless forced not to, so I always figured that would've built on that (and countering it would be a good way for Caesar to work). One of the major problems with Season 4 is that they went with "the same as always, but exaggerated" for much of the characters' roles, and as a result one of the big things that bugged me was how Huey didn't really focus at all, with the exception of Freedomland which was still more of a general episode.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Well I just finished watching The Boondocks online. It's very funny, and a great satire. Although the way this show ended was kind of disappointing. While the last season wasn't terrible, it was much less funny, and not to mention that the story ended inconclusively.
Easily one of my favorite of the "Adult" Cartoons, and by far the smartest [other than The Simpsons that is]
As I already stated, the parody and satire is usually very damn funny. And it isn't overly reliant on gross-out humor. The art style is also a plus.
What I dislike though is how the characters were flanderized, which seriously hampered character development. Also the show's short lifespan, with only 55 episodes produced over 9 years, and having no real ending. It would've been nice to find out what happened to Huey's and Riley's father, mother, and grandmother, but nothing ever came of that.
Did you ever read the comic strip?
No I haven't.

Ah. I only read a few months of it, but everybody who's familiar with the comics has found it strange that the TV show left out one of the main characters. I'm not sure it's something you could go back to now, though, since it was very topical.
I've got this stuck in my head for some reason.
I don't know how uninformed I am, but has this show ended officially? The fan response to Season 4 has been mixed/negative overall.
I suppose it's hard to say when a few years can pass before the next season.
If the next potential hiatus is longer than four years, can it be considered dead?
Perhaps!
I heard season 4 was actually pretty successful.
There were enough viewers? But there has yet to be any new announcements about the show.
According to this it did, but I'm not sure how reputable of a source that is.
If this show was renewed for a 5th season... Well I, like most people, would probably be weary of another season without the show's creator.
I thought this was a cool music video.
So why exactly did McGruder leave the show, and the reason for its discontinuation?

The reason cited for the split between the creator and the company was a disagreement over the production schedule of the fourth season.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I assume that Black Jesus also has something to do with it?
His priority was his new show Black Jesus, not continuing the Boondocks.
Like I said in another thread, I thought this show made up the Freedom Riders.
