I doubt the Westerlanders would romanticize the guy who starved them out, killed their people and raped their women (Not that Robb specifically ordered any rapes, but it did happen).

They would do exactly that.

[up][up]I've already said that the Starks were better than the Lannisters, but I don't think they sing songs when you fail. Like the Red Wedding might get a song. It might not be a flattering one, but I can see Walder getting one. Tywin got a song for crushing the Reyne and Tarbeck Rebellion.

I mean, look at Napoleon. He's still demonized in the Anglosphere over 200 years later.

[up]I don't see why. He lost his war, he didn't pull a Robert.

Walter break the rules of hospitality and kill the king of the north in a wedding, in westeros sociaty it will put him in a straght complete monster territory, i dont think robb will be see as the rightfull king to the thorne, but i will be remenber as badass warrior who was never defeat if in a fight, instead being killed cowardly

Unknowing, I don't mean to be rude, but you should really proofread before posting.

I... second that statement.

That post confused me. Especially the end.

Long and meandering. Expect anticlimaxes and monotony.

" I don't think they sing songs when you fail."

You know we're talking about folk music, right? If you think being a loser is enough to exclude you from being immortalised in song, you've listened to some very different folk songs than I have.

[up]People get remembered, even if they fail, and considering the rapacious cruelty and corruption associated with the Lannister regime, Robb's brief ascendancy is going to be remembered well.

Dunno. Maybe in the North and the Riverlands. The Westerlands themselves prospered under Tywin's regime. To them (the peasants), Robb was likely just an unwashed barbarian warlord from the North who came to their lands to Rape, Pillage, and Burn.

[up][up]Do you have any examples of people making folksongs glorifying a military commander that brutalized them and lost?

[up]Actually, the Tywin is a good rule and is remembered by some as giving the realm 20 years of peace.

The common people aren't going to remember the Lannister cruelty and corruption, just like they all still think Aerys was a great king. They're going to glorify whoever was the old king, and demonize the current one.

The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.

Wait, did anyone really view Aerys positively? I mean, I get romanticizing Raeghar, but I'm pretty sure everyone hates Aerys, and will continue to hate Aerys. Songs need their villains, after all.

Some peasant dude is like "Things were so much better back in the day with the old king" and Arya or someone says "who, bob?" And he's like, "naw, Aerys"

The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.

Dude was probably old enough to remember Aerys's non-crazy days. Eventually, though, the only people old enough to remember Aerys will be the ones who remember Aerys as the maniac who had people burned alive.

Chances are, if the mention of the names Stark, Tully or Baratheon were enough to throw you into a temper tantrum, there was little reason to dislike Aerys.

And the Martells may like him because at least he did not do anything to Elia.
