All the warriors vs one abysmal one who just awakened they might stand a chance. So if the other two double KO then they can still pull this through with a lot of luck.

Aaaaand the cavalry arrives. I guess with Miria as their centrepiece, yeah, they might stand something of a chance against a single one of the new Abyssals (most likely Hysteria, since Roxanne and Cassandra are busy with each other). But Isley just recently showed he was perfectly capable of curbstomping Helen and Deneve, so it's really hard to say. Not to mention that if you think about it, none of the Abyssals (including Alicia) so far have been defeated by anything short of another Abyssal (or Priscilla, who is simply pure broken-ness). So it's like they're on a completely different level. EDIT: Wait, can't believe I forgot that Isley was killed by the feeders. So I guess there is an exception. But it took them months of experience and wearing him down to achieve that.

Still, I gotta say, I don't really like the designs for these three new ones. Hysteria in particular looks ridiculous (no arms? lolwut?); though I guess that may be an intentional irony given her obsession with elegance. I guess Roxanne looks kinda okay...vaguely like an Egyptian mummy coffin? A bit like a cross between Alicia and Riful, really.

And I'm totally rooting for Cassandra in the Cassandra/Roxanne fight (though she really needs to put more ranks into her Banter skill). Also, @Violet Orange: Your avatar is adorable.

That was also a half dead Isley who was unstoppable.

Don't know shit has hit the fan, and it's not gonna be easy to pull it out.

I liked the scene with Raki being really confused as to why all the little warriors around him are crapping their pants.

Yeah, with three new Abyssal Ones awakening, I can't imagine anyone with even an ounce of yoki in them (and in the general vicinity) not feeling it/going Oh, Crap!.

Yeah this chapter didn't even show if the Priscilla, Clair, and the horrible sister mash up thing felt their awakening. I bet it will show the blind warrior reacting to the yoki first then zoom out to the mound of flesh.

[up]True, I was kinda hoping it would show whether Priscilla felt this awakening back at Rabona. Galatea at least should certainly sense it, yes. Bonus points if she goes "I sense a great disturbance in the Force"...

I feel like this is winnable for them. If Cassandra wasn't still sane enough to consider Roxanne her primary target, it'd be a different story, but all of them is probably enough to take down Hysteria, and the other two are probably going to have wounded each other significantly before the good guys even get to them. One or both of them's going down without them doing anything, after all.

It's not like merely being #1 at some point means your awakened form is automatically invincible, after all. They still have limitations.

Who is the Princess Curls girl in the last page? I don't remember her. I don't remember the short hair girl next to her neither.

The Claymore with Princess Curls is Winged Anastasia, the current number 7, whom the Ghost help on their way to the Organization.

The one with short hair next to her is Nike, I think.

@Gilphon: Well, these three are said to be the strongest out of the undamaged corpses that Dae kept. It's not unreasonable to suggest that their power is comparable to the original three Abyssals; and as I mentioned, the Abyssals so far have never been taken down by non-awakened warriors. (Remember the last time Miria, Clare, Helen and Deneve all faced Riful together? They only managed to pull off a rescue mission, they didn't even begin to entertain the thought of actually managing to defeat her.) I wouldn't say it's impossible for them, but they'd need to get lucky.

@EHK: Well, Priscilla-level would be total overkill - power comparable to the original three Abyssals is probably more than enough. As you mentioned, a half-dead Isley (and Riful, earlier on) already demonstrated they're above the weight class of even the seven Pieta survivors.

Maybe this might end with Priscilla flying in and trashing everything. Again. Which would be kinda disappointing and repetitive at this point though.

On the hysteria fight Advantadge for the Claymore

  • Hysteria has a little claymore in her throat, which is quite inconvenient to fight.

  • Riful isn't a good way of measuring power level because her body excelled at fighting Claymore : she seems immune to normal attack while awakened (which mean that out of the seven ghost, only Helene can damage her), she can attack a great number of target (so number doesn't matter to her) and she can flee very fast. On top of that, the ghost weren't trying to pick a fight with her, but to rescue warrior and remain in hidden mode.

  • while Helene was sure she was going to lose to Isley, it looks like more a problem of stamina than being incapable of avoiding strike. When you know that Isley is faster than Rigaldo, that means that she and Deneve can fight reasonably well against a fast opponent.

  • Going by Dietrich (Jolly Jumper), the ghost teams seems to be stronger than the sums of her component.

  • Plot Armor: Myria got her moment to shine, now it's time for the other to have their climatic battle.

  • Hysteria doesn't have a huge body, so a strong and successful attack is all it takes to defeat her.

  • we already got a lot of loss thanks to the number one introduction. The body count is already reasonably high.

Disadvantage for the Claymore

  • Hysteria is fast. Which means that weak Claymore will probably be useless. Sorry Nike, you should have stayed home and make shoes.

  • it also means that landing a charged hit will be very difficult, so Helen will also have a hard time.

  • If Clare and Priscilla are supposed to come, it would be better narratively speaking for the situation to be hopeless for the Claymore.

[up] Probably. Makes me wonder just how many four-letter words we know today were around since medieval times.

BTW, Cassandra ironically is far more adorable as an awakened being (well, at least the top half of her). The way she looks like she's constantly nibbling on something makes me feel fuzzy.

Next chapter.

Looks like we were right about the ability difference. Must say, I didn't quite make the connection that is reveled in this chapter until Maria started talking about it. Seems obvious in retrospect.

I have a DBZ abridged moment when I read : Deneve ! Dodge !

Not a very good chapter, despite the great team fight, I am annoyed by the "lol, don't need wings to kill you" which make this fight pointless and the predictability of the fight once Myria urged Deneve to dodge. I supposed that Myria will now use her brain to remove the anchor to Histeria's body.

edit: that's quite early for a release. Praise the translator for their work.

Early release? Merry Christmas, everyone!

But yeah, I agree that not much happened this chapter. I don't really get what Miria was talking about with regards to the similarities to Clare though. Does she mean the permanently-bent legs that appear to be suited to jumping, or is she implying that those projectiles Hysteria is firing are linked to her body?

I don't really mind the wings thing though, they never really registered in my mind in the first place. Perhaps I've been watching/playing too many series where flying opponents are a matter of course though; because I guess I just realized that a flying enemy in the Claymore-verse is actually quite hard to deal with (unless you're an Awakened with wings yourself). Which just makes Priscilla even more tricky...

Basically, her new legs serve the same purpose as Clare's awakened arm in the Northern War. Moving quickly is not a problem, but maintaining control of that speed and stopping/redirecting it is a whole other story.

Also, the idea is that those legs can extend long distances and plunge into the ground to give her her speed. We know that they are not projectiles because there is no sign of anything remaining in the wholes.

But Hysteria's already demonstrated incredible fine-control of her speed. I don't think stopping is a problem for her.

And by "projectiles" I mean the white things around her waist, which she's clearly firing on the last page. So it seems they're attached to her body?

Oh, also: poor Deneve gets to be the punching bag again. Just because she can heal...(well, okay, Nike was taken out too. But she's in way over her head here anyway.)

EDIT: Wait, just noticed a translation error this chapter. Wasn't Anastasia number 7? (I mean, she and Dietrich can't both be number 8 simultaneously.)

Stopping has become a problem because now she is as fast as Clare was in Pieta (or faster, I don't know), which means she now needs anchor to stop herself. She can also change direction while in the air, which wouldn't be possible without the things she launched.

edit : Dietrich was demoted after the awakened hunt failed, so it is possible that Anastesia is now number 8. Or it an error.
