I'm surprised anybody even remembers Carmen.

[down]Wrong thread, and wrong person. That joke is for Kellam in the Fire Emblem thread.

I would buy a Carmen Sandiego/Ace Attorney game in a heartbeat. I'd even buy two copies if you got to play as Franziska. And maybe have multiple case results based on a Karma Meter that moves depending on whether you use logic and careful questioning to get answers from suspects and witnesses or whip it out of them. I wonder how well the pun works with her Japanese name.

Great, now I'm imagining Phoenix trying to cross examine Carmen Sandiago.

  • "And then I stole the Eiffel tower."
  • "But how did you do that?"
  • "The same way I stole the international date line."
  • "... Mr Wright, I do not believe you are going to get any trade secrets out of the witness. Perhaps you should keep the cross-examination to things of importance?"

Yes I mean CYOA. It's a Gravity Falls crossover with Mia as the protagonist.

Oh wow, I never even considered that format for an Ace Attorney forum game!

...Unless, you know, there's some other Ace Attorney forum game that uses that format, but whatever.

Regardless, this is really good! The portrayal of characters on both sides of the crossover is pretty good, and the mystery interests me! A question though; have you already planned how the mystery pans out, and if you have, do you plan to follow it straight through, or do you intend to change some things at some points depending on the other users choices?

Also, what do you do if Gravity Falls' return to air ends up contradicting how you portray certain things (like character relations, personalities, etc. Though obviously excluding the obvious things that won't happen, like Bud's death)?

Anyway, regarding DGS, one thing I liked about the trailer is how each episode has it's own stylized title card, which is quite different from the first game's movie poster-esque title cards, and the following games' character pose + comic panel format (except Apollo Justice, which doesn't have title cards (which is a shame), and Investigations which only have character poses).

Yeah, weird thing to really like in a trailer, but ehhhhh.

Arthur is a joke. Arthur Birch is Stanford Pines. That's why Stanley was like "What are you talking about?" when Mia brought him up. I got lazy and recycled the Storyteller's pun.

And that's the reason I'm glad I have no intention of Stanford showing up til AFTER A Tale of Two Stans establishes more about his personality. With Stan Swap confirmed it's really almost impossible for the Grandfather to be anyone other than Stanley. The Author was a self admitted loser with women during the Portal's construction which was so close to when he vanished that I doubt he was able to marry a girl between that and the portal incident The only way out is there was a third brother but I feel that wouldn't make much sense narratively. I was thrilled that the promos for A Tale of Two Stans confirmed Stan Swap but I was prepared from the start to accept that not all the backstory I came up with would fit into canon. If any of the really minor details are changed I'll change my plans as well, but I'm not going to completely rewrite the mystery if it becomes incompatible with the show.

Huh, I didn't catch that. Nice!

(Also, man am I pumped up for Gravity Falls' return! And it's coming very soon too!)

Speaking of things that are coming back for July, Capcom is having a countdown event in which Ryuunosuke is being put on trial for 7 different 'crimes' each day leading up to its release.

As of this post, there's less than an hour and a half left for you to vote if Ryuu is, or isn't, guilty of Crime #3: making his voice actor overdo his job! After all, it took 28 takes just to get his "Objection!" clip right.

You can give 1 vote by clicking on the big circle button...or, given you have a Twitter account, you can share your vote with the button below that and give 100 points by doing so! If they get 100000 votes, a voice clip for the characters will be unlocked!

(If you're curious, the verdict for Crime #1: spoiling Sherlock's existence in the trailers, is Not Guilty, and the verdict for Crime #2: stuttering Susato's name three times when calling out to her that she dropped her wallet, is (also) Not Guilty.)

I'm just sad because I'm still not sure if we'll ever get Great Ace Attorney. When was Dual Destinie's localization announced? Before or after its Japanese release?

Twenty-four hours after the very first reveal.

I'm not too fussed yet though, since I remember the days when localization announcements often weren't made until months after the Japanese release, and it would take close to a year for them to be released.

Sixth day of the countdown trials!

And the sixth 'crime' Ryuunosuke is being tried for is...that the Wrights get put on trial too often!

...Huh.

Edit: Whoops, made a mistake.

Final day of the countdown trials!

Featuring a slightly truncated version of the launch trailer...with Pursuit 2015!

Speaking of which, I knew it, that little violin track from the end of the spring trailer as Ryuunosuke readies an Objection was in fact a snippet from this game's Pursuit theme!

Is it bad that I want to see More crossovers?

Both Batman and Carmen Sandiago would make wonderful Ace Attorney games.

Ooh, no need for them to even be crossovers, just courtroom detective games. :D

You are Ms. Janet van Dorn, an up-and-coming Gotham attorney. Your self-appointed mission to clear the city of the crime and corruption that riddles it is far more than any one person could hope to achieve, but fortunately you are not alone - you have caught the attention of Harvey Dent, a determined and seemingly fearless prosecutor with a reputation for impeccable trustworthiness who has his eye on the district attorney's office, and with him the dedicated allegiance of detectives Jim Gordon and Renee Montoya.

With your allies, the future seems to you unquestionably bright, in spite of the sudden turns that come out in court. (Temple Fugate was just a rather finnicky snob, but in only your second case the defendant, Bruce Wayne, turned out to have been framed by his own lawyer, Coleman Reese!) But as your career develops, and Dent gets closer to his goal, your suspicions are aroused - that the White Knight of Gotham is secretly in league with a dangerous vigilante...

Heheh. No, I imagine it going something like this:

  • Case one: Temple Fugate defends detective Arnold Flass, charged with conspiracy and attempted murder of Jim Gordon. Flass found guilty.
  • Case two: Coleman Reese defends Bruce Wayne, charged with the murder of bank president Richard Daniels and suspected of being the Holiday Killer, a masked vigilante also known as the Batman. Wayne found innocent, framed by Reese.
  • Case three: Another Holiday murder. Van Dorn begins to suspect Dent of being or working with Batman, even though he has alibis for several of the Holiday murders, but has complete confidence in Gordon.
  • Case four: Jack Robinson charged with murder of a witness in the Holiday case (on orders from the Falcone family) at a chemical plant. Claims to have worked for Holiday the serial killer but was attacked by Batman the vigilante, indicating they are different people. Robinson suffers breakdown and becomes the Joker in-court; found guilty, but sentence suspended until he can be confirmed mentally competent to stand trial.
  • Case five: Alberto Falcone charged with the Holiday murders. Harvey Dent exposed as a vigilante, implicated in earlier murders for which he had no alibi and suspected of being Batman. Attacked and injured by Falcone in court and becomes Two-Face, before being arrested pending further trial.
