1.9 pre-release 1. Actual launch date for 1.9 is February 25th.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Woot. Can't remember, pre-releases are stable, right? Not going to start a new world and watch it implode come Thursday?
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984I'm definitely going to use this snapshot. I have a separate 1.9 singleplayer world .
Two guys walk into a bar, the third guy ducked.Anyone have any advice for problems with the game under Windows 10? It loads slowly and starts to stutter to 0-1 FPS. It also likes to dump me into an empty world and take its very sweet time to load anything.
Ok, I forgot that, in my hubris, I set the chunk render to max. Is there a tool to optimize the game for your system?
EDIT: Also have to figure out a solution to my village problem. Since my Wandering Castle has a village already in it, they never updated to the new trade system. I don't want to kill them personally and my attempts at smothering/drowning them has only caused problems. I think I need to chop the castle into pieces around the central village and hope that I can salvage it.

"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Pre-releases are when they still have to test it before the official release. So while it's more stable than the first snapshots would be, don't expect it to be bug free, and the potential to wreck the world is still there. There's been a few times where they went through a few pre-releases before the update was finalized. So if you start a new one using the pre-release, keep a back-up of the world just in case.
The fourth season of Hermitcraft just started. They're trying to keep the team together of group projects this time, kind of like Kingdomcraft. Speaking of which most of Kingdomcraft has joined this season.
Well shit. Guess I should subscribe to TinfoilChef now instead of doing nothing but slowly archive binge on season 3.

H.B. WardHey all, been a while since I played Minecraft and I've lost everything related to it that I had.
Are there any troper servers alive currently?
This too shall pass.Maybe not - I sent a message to someone a while ago asking to join one, but I never got a response.
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating.redwhitenblue still runs the troper server. Just send her a PM.
Go ahead and try again if possible.

Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating.Look who's going to play Minecraft for the first time in months, yeah, me.
Look who's probably going to fail at Minecraft...

please call me "XionKuriyama" or some variation, thanks! | What is the good deed that you can do right now?Day Two and a creeper almost blew up my house. Like, he was at the door flashing, then I backed of in a panic and he decided "ah, whatever" and left.
Oh, boy.
please call me "XionKuriyama" or some variation, thanks! | What is the good deed that you can do right now?So I was told by my wife to share this, so here you go.
Origami Creeper
Made this at my last deskjob. Took about six months to finish. All paper, no glue, no tape, no adhesives.
That's a good Creeper.
I cherish that my own Creepers are much less fragile.
H.B. WardPrepare for combat! Minecraft 1.9 is now available!
Prepare for getting owned by skeletons taking advantage of your poorly optimized client, forcing you to watch as you quickly die while the frame rate and everything you can use to defend yourself moves at a snail's pace.
H.B. WardHai guyz, Herobrine was removed. Again.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Herobrine will never be removed.
He is ingrained into the essence of Minecraft.
Last time I played this game was in the 1.7 branch, on my old computer. I feel like I should download it again and start from scratch. Is mod support any better, yet?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"The creeper are worst for me. They're not killing me too often, but they keep making such a mess.
I just found my favorite part of the update. Some of the issues with jungles and frame rate have been fixed.
Before the update, every time I went into a jungle, I would drop to single digit frame rates and it would constantly freeze. It would take several seconds just to open the menu, and if a creeper snuck up behind me, I was screwed. Now, it's a bit slower than other biomes, but it's still fast enough it isn't interrupting game play.
Well, I started a new 1.9 game. I spawned in a hilly biome with lots of horses but no other animals. So much for easy meat. Fortunately, I found lots of wood and a nice hilltop that I could dig flat and build a giant house on. There are all sorts of new minerals to mine; I haven't figured out what they do other than combine into polished blocks, which I assume are building materials.
I got ambushed and killed in my house once by mobs that snuck in through an unfinished wall. Last time I make that mistake, I tell myself each time it happens. /sigh. My near-finished initial abode has wooden walls, a wood slab ceiling, and an overhanging roof to discourage those pesky spiders. I'm slowly replacing the dirt floor with cobblestone. If I manage to find any sheep, I'll try to get some carpeting laid down. I have to go hunting for sand so I can make glass; for now, it's going to be a fun time getting sniped by skeletons through my open windows.
At least I've got myself a nice set of iron tools and armor now, but exploration is hampered by a lack of reliable food. I started a wheat farm, so at least I'll have a supply of bread soon. Are horses edible? At least I'm remembering to plant seedlings whenever I chop down a tree so I get a renewable supply of wood and apples.
There's a nice cavern deep inside the hill I spawned on, so that's also going to get explored soon as well. I have yet to meet anything I don't recognize in terms of mobs.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Ok, trying to decide what to build in this new world. I have a mesa biome nearby and I think I'll build there. Thinking of building different structures for different biomes, at the moment I have:
- Dark Forest — Abandoned Mansion
- Forest — Castle
- Ocean — Ship
- Extreme Hills — Tower
EDIT:
Figured it out! Bunker/Missile Silo!

"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984
I just checked the statistics.
It turns out that now I've bred more than 900 animals.
Huh.
