Gordon:"So Ryan, what do you think of Peter?"
Ryan:"He's a freak!"
A Genius of the Lowest Order

Who am I? I'm Canadian, high school graduate, IQ of 141 (last time I took an IQ quiz on the internet, at any rate). I'm intelligent in that I'm good at math - not much else. I like to imagine my life as a TV show, with season finales declared at the conclusion of long-term story arcs that I arbitrarily decide. I guess if I had to summarize my "character arc", it would be the transition from an irrational, selfish, child to a stable, emotionally mature adult. I probably still have a ways to go, but I've definitely come a ways from where I started. In person, I'm not a particularly talkative person, but I'm told I have a "savage" sense of humor when I apply it. Just going off my observations of how people react to me, I'd guess I'm an alright person.

Also, I'd like to apologize for some shitpost edits I made back in 2011. I was kind of a dipshit back then, and I am sincerely sorry for my actions.

I run the greatest blog of all time, MovieReviewsWithPeterChang.
Season Summaries:
  • Season One being the first year of high school. An immediate clash between eight years' worth of catholic school indoctrination and the public school environment ensued. I handled that poorly. I met a nice girl at the beginning of the year but that didn't pan out. In general, I was a very edgy individual, acting like I had it tough (classic 14-year-old nonsense). Grew my hair out and was all-around not a pleasant person to be around. By the end of the year, I decided I would dedicate the next year to making up for it.
  • Season Two being the second year of high school. I set about making good on my pledge to make up for my misdeeds, and largely succeeded. For the first half of the year, I was still pretty unpleasant because I was still really edgy, but I managed to shake that off and became a happy person. I met lots of new people and got into some wacky adventures. All-in-all, a very fun year.
  • Season Three being the third year of high school. I decided to become edgy again, and became angry at everything for reasons I'm still not 100% clear on. As it turns out, anger is not a sustainable source of energy, so eventually I had to let it go. The wackiness really started ramping up around this time. I made a few new friends and finally started getting it into my head that edginess is not a path to happiness. By the end of it, I was on a good path.
  • Season Four being the fourth year of high school. I decided it was about time to start seriously taking a look at myself, as I had taken some weird detours over the last three years and could not honestly be considered a good person. I still got into wacky escapades and it was all-around a light-hearted year, but it was also an important learning year for me, as I decided it was time to start acting like a decent human being.
  • Season Five was the final year of high school. Putting the final touches on my polished, new "good person" personality was the goal. It followed a pretty classical story arc - I started with momentum, it dissipated, I declined, it looked like all hope was lost, and in the end I overcame and I'd say I successfully put myself on the right path, albeit with still quite a bit of work to do before I'm a functional adult.
  • Season Six being the next 5, 10 years. I don't know at this point. I really didn't want to continue with the "TV Show" thing but I couldn't really make it go away. Over the course of this season I guess I'll move towards greater independence and start systemically correcting my flaws. It's an exciting time full of opportunity.

Tropes associated with me and the world as I view it
  • Acquired Situational Narcissism:
    • Whenever I'm on a roll at any game I become substantially more confident. It takes until I lose at a game for the effect to wear off.
  • Anti-Hero: Classical.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking:
    • "...Whose crimes against Scotland include High Treason, Rebellion, Embezzlement, Grand Theft Auto, Jaywalking, and Shoving a Moose out of a Moving Aeroplane."
  • Badass Boast:
    • "The game is over when I say it's over."
  • Character Development: As most people go through.
  • Development Hell:
    • I promised a review of High School Musical 3 for my blog. It was a few months before I bothered.
      • I finally did get it done, only to promise a review of Zombie Land that will likely never come.
    • The New Calvin Comics
  • Does Not Understand Sarcasm: Inverted. People often say they can't tell if I'm being serious or not.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin:
    • "Scientist Cow" a character I created during french class, season one.
    • Calvin Comics
  • Hypocritical Humor:
    • (Watching Breaking Bad) "Dumbass." *Lifts water glass to drink and spills on himself
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: I love a good pun on occasion.
  • Large Ham:
    • Then she does this high-kick, jutterbug sort of dance, LIKE A CRAZED STORK IN HEAT!
    • I SHOT! I SHOT!
    • Write that. WRITE THAT! (throws pencil)
    • MOVE!
    • NO! NO!
    • JUMP!
    • YEAH!
    • CALVIN!
  • Never Live It Down: I made my character run away during ONE game of Diablo III. I've been accused of "running away during every game we play."
  • No Indoor Voice: I alternate between this and "the quiet one". I was considered for "loudest" in my final yearbook.
  • Not So Above It All: I'm really no different from any other person. Neither are you.
  • Running Gag:
    • "LORAX!" - Season One
    • "War Cry!" - Season Three
    • Whenever I lose at a game, I immediately call the other person out for cheating, no matter how much of a stretch my accusations are.
    • "Meme."
      • "lime"
      • "pucker"
      • "suck it in"
      • "smooth."
  • The Anti-Nihilist: My forum quote is from Elon Musk: "Well, first of all, why go anywhere?". I take that as inspirational - the goal of life is to craft one's own meaning.

Quotes from Me and Those Around Me
"Pessimism is a waste of energy."
"That [nihilism] is the worst possible philosophy. You would be happier following literally any other philosophy."
My brother
"The metaphor I used was that I was scanning a small part of a couch, saying 'I know there's a couch here somewhere' while failing to realize that the only way to find a couch to relax on was to step back, stop trying to find the couch, and recognize that it was always there."
My approximation of the concept of the ego and the process of reaching enlightenment.
A celebratory exclamation used primarily by me, but borrowed by lots of other people.
