I dunno if this is good, I got bored with TTGL after a few episodes, but I LOVE FLCL more than anything in this world.

I found what appears to be a picture of it.

Though I was distracted by the Engrish in that first paragraph.

So the main characters are called Stocking and Panty. Who is Garterbelt then? Their rival maybe?

And this comment, taken on its own, is nonsense.

Wait... They actually wield their stockings and panties as swords and guns respectively??

This is the most anisome thing I ever saw since... since... Well, actually since last week's drill-breathing dragon in 'Daimaou, but anyways!

Who says Garterbelt's even a "who?"

I want to watch this. Right now.

Honestly, the premise and title seem silly enough that I'd probably at least want to watch the first episode or so even if it wasn't Gainax. Since it is, however, I have no doubt that this will be awesome.

Is it just me, or does it seem like theres some sort of western vibe to that picture?

Not that I'm complaining or anything, it's still nice.

Holy crap it does look like the Powerpuff Girls! So I guess this will be Gainax's take on the Magical Girl genre?

They already made a Cutey Honey anime, and a movie.

Looks just like PPG etc...

But it's really funny how they tried to put a pun in that engrish description

I like that they're taking a page from Powerpuff Girls with the artwork. It's a nice blend of styles. waii

They look like Tezuka characters, not the PPG.

Oh, thanks.

Looks too angular for Tezuka. More like My Life As A Teenage Robot or something.

There seems to be a general assumption here that Gainax are a top tier studio and any errors can be regarded as minor mistakes. I would personally think the opposite is a more sensible presumption.

Ahem, Gainax recently did an anime about Kindergartens and a student who falls in love with her teacher. Whose pilot episode very closely resembles that of Kn J's beginning (but without the fanservice)...and they totally made it work.

I think its fair to have some faith in them after seeing them pull something like that off.

Neon Genesis Evangelion, FLCL, and Gurren Lagann are pretty awesome, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of a doubt because their hype is justified.

I...I can't be as optimistic as you guys. I mean, I've seen two Gainax shows that were totally awesome, and two more that were pretty good, but...I just can't imagine a show with a character named Panty being good in any way.

I guess it is.
