Gears of War 3

Beta is open to all Gold members.

So anyone up on the Gears 3 beta yet?

I too want to hear how the multiplayer after the huge Gameplay Derailment happening in the first two games. It probably still won't be how I want it, but nonetheless...

The gameplay changes were the least of the problems with Gears 2, the biggest one was the lack of dedicated servers, the processor power needed for it made lag an absolute nightmare.

My younger brother preordered and played the beta yesterday, but I didn't really get much of a chance to try it since he played it all day and I was busy with other stuff.

But he did play it all day, so I guess that's a good sign. Also changed the weapons he used rather often so that's another good sign on what worried me about the game.

Anyone else think it would be depressing if Dom dies in GOW 3?

If they do it right, yes.

Personally, I think they should kill him off. It would be such an emotional sucker punch to a lot of people who played the first two games.

Clay Carmine is actually a 50/50

More dynamic fights, less scripted missions.

I actually bought the "Save Carmine" shirt. He had better survive, I am a cheap bastard who spent good money to keep him alive.

Even if he dies, you'll have "Carmine Lives!" T-shirts (much like the "Frodo Lives!" meme from the 70's.)

Wanna bet he has a Never Found the Body moment so it doesn't matter if you voted live or die?

I can approve of that. It would be unexpected.

I guess I am one of the few who can handle Traviss' writing, but it seems like a good plus in my book.

One of the big problems in the second game was the pacing. Full scale conflict, then get eaten by a worm. After that, the big underground war is forgotten for a random side trip to a science base, before suddenly realizing that they need to get their shit together and finish fighting underground.

Say what you will about KT's content, but pacing she is good at.
