Man, the bit with the Entity. I'd never thought I'd feel sorry for it. Both times, it was defeated because it realized how pointless its existence was, but here its played for tragedy instead of a triumphant defeat.
Vyce's betrayal wasn't too surprising, but it fits well with his character. After all he's gone through, I don't think he can accept the Entity's defeat at anyone's hand but his own.

I feel that Vyce is right that the Entitiy isn't dead, but he can't accept that the big evil force that he justified everything to defeat is a living creature with similar emotions and questions that he has. Vyce has real issues with emphasizing with creatures unlike himself, that was apparent in his treatment of Nimue.
I think the time is rife for some Vyce backstory. As someone who refused to acknowledge that the Entity was defeated, did he ever go back home? I'm assuming that his crusade began when the Entity took his world. Does that mean he's from the Pokemon world?

Vyce would have to be from the Pokemon world, since the Entity is Missingno. Or maybe not-it's possible that Missingno is merely the Pokemon universe's approximation of the entity, and wasn't actually born there. It makes you wonder how the Entity came into existence in the first place

It's nice that we see the Hologram come into play again. Vyce's defeat was satisfying, but at I'll admit that I wished we got to see more insight into his past. Still, if this truly is the end of Vyce, then it was great to see his own pride turned against him.
Overall, I really enjoyed this storyline. It definitely took longer than it needed to, but I felt it had some really strong moments. It was very interesting to see Linkara, Vyce, and the Entity all struggling with the same issue of what to do when you realize how insignificant you are compared to the universe.

The next storyline seems to be a tournament arc. Never thought I'd see that in a review show.

Vyce is a classic He Who Fights Monsters situation. He is the Captain Ahab to the Entity's Moby Dick. I feel that he's what Linkara would be if he was consumed by his paranoia, a man who's desire to stop the Entity has caused him to forget just what he started protecting.

And thus begins the Contest of Champions story-arc. A Tournament Arc is an interesting direction to take, although you know things are looking too good to be true. But it looks like Jaeris is going to play a larger role again, so that'll be fun.
Not as angry as the name would suggest.
Either these guys aren't on the up and up, or there's going to be some unexpected complications. Still tournament arcs are fun, so I look forward to seeing where this goes.

I'm just wondering how this'll play out considering that with the arc being restricted to October he only has two episodes to devote to the arc if next episode is the preliminaries.

I assume the preliminaries will take up October, and the tournament itself will start next year. I remember at first thinking that the Sleepwalker arc was just going to comprise of the Freddy Krueger stuff, before realizing that that the story wasn't finished yet. It's probably a similar case here.
