Greetings. This is the thread for requesting assistance with recovering a TV Tropes account for which you have forgotten the password.
Before posting here, please note that Get Known has a comprehensive set of instructions for managing your account. To summarize, password resets are limited as follows:
- If you have an associated email address, use the Lost Password link on the login screen to request a reset email. If that doesn't work, post here.
- If you do not have an associated email address but you are still logged in, you can register an email address and use it for recovering your password.
- If you do not have an associated email address, and have not used your previous account since September 18, 2013, we cannot verify your ownership for technical reasons.
- To verify ownership without an email address, and if you have used your previous account recently, you should be logged in on the same computer and/or Internet connection that you most recently edited or posted from.
- It is not currently possible for moderators to reset your password or change your registered email address. As a last resort, you may use our contact form
to send a message to "The Staff".

Uh...odd request, but for some reason, a while ago, I got turned from Idler2.0 into Idler 20. That's not really much of a problem and of itself, it's just that all my old Idler2.0 posts have an old signature and my old avatar (or lack thereof). Is there any way that I can switch back temporarily so that I can bring my old profile up to speed with my current one?

A fair while. I'm mostly a lurker, but I set a password on my account when I found out it was needed to edit pages—and then promptly forgot to write it down. 
It's only now that I've found a reason to use it again. I also used to comment occasionally over on YKTTW, back when that didn't need a password either.
