This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

~ANT Muddle: That's exactly why you were suspended. And frankly, "I'm tired of it" is a crappy reason to go against the procedures we have in place. Discarding a someone else's TLP that was months old since the last reply might — might — be acceptable. Discarding one that is actively under discussion is not, even if it was first proposed years ago.

~Mdjj1996: Okay, so explain how trying to custom title Obfuscating Stupidity to "Dumbass Facade" is in any way a correction of an error. Same with potholing tropes with "jerk" in the title to "bitch" when referring to female characters. "Jerk" is a gender-neutral noun.

And that is not how you use the Custom Title tool. If you want an alternate name for a trope, you request a redirect in the Locked Pages thread.

That doesn't explain why you thought it was a good idea to ask for a custom title to that; considering that 1) the custom title would override every use of the proper name on the wiki, and 2) the page you use to request custom titles specifically says not to do crap like that with it; that' it's for adding punctuation and special characters, not changing how a trope title reads completely.

Hi, I just logged in to fix a page I've created and have been working on, and would like to know why I was suspended? I reviewed the "What To Do If You Are Suspended" Administrivia page and I'm still not quite entirely sure what I did to merit a suspension, though I think I can narrow it down to one of two things:
Either A) it was from having the summary of When We Were Animals as the synopsis from the book jacket (which I had been leaving as a placeholder, since I'm not exactly the best with descriptions) or
B) I probably (unintentionally) sounded a bit abrasive in my editing reason on the Trivia tab for Ju-on.
If it's another reason, I'd like to know so I can prevent that in the future. And I apologize if I caused any issues!

You can request help writing a description if you aren't confident, but do not, under any circumstances, copy from someone else.

Totally understood, I actually followed the prompts on the Needs A Better Description page and noted it needed a better description in the hopes that it could be changed. If it's okay, I can change it to where it's a new description while still keeping the Wiki Magic request?

Hi. I got suspended for deleting Designated Villain for Gaston on the YMMV page for Beauty and the Beast just because I don't agree with it. Its not that I don't agree with it. It's just that I feel like someone who put it there is judging him based on his first impression he lays on Belle, which is not what the film is about. Its about seeing something different on the inside. Can you unsuspend me please?

~Edward Davies: The issue, as we discussed with the other troper, is not the difference of opinion, but the Edit War that was conducted in the article over it. In cases like these, when two tropers have an apparently irreconcilable disagreement, the proper action is to bring it to Ask The Tropers and/or the forums to seek input. Based on what I've seen in the "Is this an example?" topic, both of you are making erroneous arguments. If we release your suspension, I need to know that you will not go and try to shove your opinion on the article again.
~Piquant Reeve: I find these kinds of non-apologies completely unimpressive. At least you could state what you think you did so we can establish if we're even talking about the same thing.
To spare you the suspense, it's plagiarism, specifically on Horrible.Video Game Generations. You were accused of copying from someone else's review when writing an example for Gods and Generals. That is never, ever, acceptable. The wiki could get in serious trouble for it.

I know I'm banned from workshops thread, but can I to be unlocked just for Image Pickin'? I contributed several times and is not rare for me find a good suggestion for a Trope Image without the possibility of use it.

OK, I think I know why I was locked out. I nuked someone else. Fine (but it already had enough bombs to qualify and no one else wanted it, anyway). I promise not to do it again, except with my own entries.
But don't forget about those items in the Trope Launch Pad that have been hanging around months or years with (a difference of) four or fewer bombs. I can't be the only one getting tired of it.
