This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I'm suspended? I assume I've been suspended over the quotes issue from last week (though it could be any number of things). I've been going over my previous edits and removing them - this may be construed as ignoring Septimus but that wasn't the case.

I've only read the last two complaints (one was about duplicate images), but my quotes were too long, too negative and sometimes went on tangents unconnected with the trope.

Hello. I'm sorry I'm posting this so late; I believe I was suspended last November, and took it as a sign I needed to step back. Now I'm just wondering what I did wrong. I know I've probably bent or broken a lot of rules because I'm not very good at keeping up with them, but if you can tell me something I'm consistently doing wrong I can fix my behavior.
I would like to be able to edit again though first I would like an explanation for what I did wrong. I presume formatting/structure issue because I did not insult the staff or anything like that as far as I'm aware.
~Scalenex: Aye, insulting the staff or such weren't the ban reasons. You made three articles upon making that account, all inappropriate in some way:
- Analysis.Johnny Bravo: Not an analysis, and first person doesn't belong on wiki articles either.
- YMMV.Taking You With Me: YMMV pages are only for works. That, and you don't list examples of objective tropes there. And you need to link to the work pages.
- YMMV.Tragic Keepsake: Same.
~Fools Edit Account: You need to start indexing and crosswicking your pages without prompting, please. You also have problems with Example Indentation and referring to other parts of a page too.

Wait, "crusade to remove all the Order of the Stick images"? What?
First off, what "crusade"? I made some threads that had Order of the Stick images. And? They were bad images. It's not like those were the only threads I made; I've made tons of threads within the past month or two. Some of them involved Oot S, some didn't. If anything, it was a "crusade" on trying to get better images overall, not against any particular image source.
Second, how is making a handful of threads that happen to share the same image source a bannable offense? And probably weeks since the last time I opened a thread involving Oot S?
I think I understand why I got suspended. I was just tired of having to update and constantly tell fix the Derpy Hooves situation in the MLP Why We Can't Have Nice Things part and I erased more than I should have.
I promise If I can get a second chance I'll stop that and be a more civil and respectable editor. I actually love the site and even got recommended by Gordon Schumway for my Payback for a Pipe story, so I have a lot of respect for this place.
So may I please have my editing privileges back?

To be honest, I'm a bit unclear on what exactly those things are and how to do them. I do index the works pages I create, is there something else I have to do?
(And... "without prompting"? I've never received a prompt to do either of those things. This is the first time it's come up as an issue.)
I do know I've been inconsistent with Example Indentation, I'll try to be better about that.

~Fools Edit Account: Do you check your private messages? There are five notifications on your account for crosswicking and indexing. When you get one of those, it's both a reminder and a warning. The notifications themselves don't cause a suspension, but if someone reports your activity, we check them to see if you were given notice.

~Darthrai: Against my better judgment, I'm going to give you one more chance, but I'd like you to stay away from editing anything that has to do with fan interpretations of characters in the Pokemon franchise. At the very least, any change must be made only after an attempt to use the Discussion pages or Ask The Tropers.
~johnnyfog: Correct. I'd like to stress that we are not IMDB; we do not need to catalog every quote associated with every work and trope. I'd like you to leave those articles alone for a while.

~catmuto: Good wiki writing must follow style rules. We didn't just make these up; they are pretty standard.
Each example must be self-contained and at a single indentation level. If you want to expand on, correct, or otherwise modify an example, edit your changes into the example; do not add new text as a sub-bullet. If your changes make the example no longer applicable, delete it.
Corollary to this is the Justifying Edit. Tropes do not require justification. Justified Trope is a very specific concept, and does not apply to most examples.
All entries in a list or sublist must be at the same indentation level. There should never be a lone example at any given level. All examples for a trope are part of the same sublist and must always be indented the same.
