This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.

If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

The Forum Rules apply here.

Don'ts

  • Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
  • Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
  • Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
  • Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
  • Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Not entirely sure what I did to warrant being suspended, I assume it was because I called the guy who kept making the Fan (dis)service revisions regarding example indentation on the Tomodachi Life page stupid in the edit reasons. Guess I might've been somewhat overreacting, but it did seem needlessly picky although if those're the rules, I guess they can't be helped.

To the moderators:

I was suspended from writing back in March of this year due to what I believe was for Zero Context Examples (I can't really remember) and I had apologized and asked for my suspension to be lifted. However, for reasons not made known to me, I never got the suspension lifted and I didn't want to pester you guys, so I pretty much gave up. Now I'm back and would really like to edit again. I've looked through the What To Do If You Are Suspended thread many times and I'm wondering if there is something else I should do?

Hi,

I've been away for a week or so and I came back to find I was suspended. While I'm not sure why it happened, I'll happily fix anything related to the suspension right away once editing privileges are reinstated.

I got suspended, with no reason given to me as to why.

Quantum: Please index the pages you create.

immortalfrieza: Looks like we can't get you to go with the consensus on Unfortunate Implications citations.

Another Gamer: Yep. Too rude for us. Nobody has to put up with it here, so we won't.

Sara: Please pay attention to ZCE's and Handling Spoilers.

Fair enough, I suppose I was too harsh and will try not to do it again in the future. Can I have some sort of an estimate on when I can edit again?

I'm really sorry about any and all problems I've caused. I was really tired and kinda took the easy way... I'll fix I if that's what you want. Again, I'm really sorry.

I was going with the consensus as far as I knew at the time. I didn't see anything on the discussion page of that trope that said work pages examples weren't valid without citations, in fact I saw the opposite, so I changed things to reflect that. Then somebody informed me that a mod had came along and changed things a bit, and that was that. I was uninformed, sorry.

Hello Moderators:

I added my post here several days ago; I'm not sure if you were able to see it. I believe it was post 6250. Once again, I would like to apologize for my behavior that got me suspended in the first place. Talking part in an Edit War is childish and I should have acted more maturely. I have read the rules more thoroughly and will strive to be more careful. Please grant me editing privileges again. I love contributing to this website. Thank you for your time.

Ok, gonna try and clean up anybody who got missed:

bubblesishot46853: Looks like you were forum blocked in Jun of last year for being overly hostile in the Pokemon thread. The block was lifted 10 days later, and you were warned that it would be reinstated permanently if you did it again, About two weeks later, you did it again. I'm not seeing any new reason to lift it now. So, yeah, you're right, it's not going to be lifted.

Kirara19: Comparing your last posts with the edits that got you suspended, your grammar appears to have improved quite a bit. [tup]I do see a couple things that are still problematic, most noticeably, the way you use "on", like in these sentences: "I want to make it clear that I take full responsibility on what happened before and I promise that this is not going to happen again. I will always verify my own grammar and on how I write my examples, and would post some future edits in the English grammar thread when I'm in doubt. " The first one should be "for", not "on", and the second one shouldn't be there at all. I know the 'Help with English' thread is backed up and slow, but if you'll use it, I'll lift your suspension, but I'll be keeping an eye on your edits for a while. If there are grammar problems again, your editing privileges will be re-suspended.

rocker1992: "A little overboard"? That's one way of putting itsmile. Don't be in such a hurry to add examples that you don't take the time to explain them. Please read Zero Context Example and How To Write An Example, and explain to me in your own words what you were doing wrong.

Offensive Handle: We need a bit more to work with than "That's fair." although that's a good start. Your forum posting will only be turned back on if we believe that you understand why it was turned off, and will be following the rules from here on out.

mangalover: In general, your edits to appear sound. I'll hold to you your promise to take more time and follow the rules more carefully. If you can dial back your dedication to editing about Giselle, that would help, to. Suspension lifted; but this is your last chance.

Another Gamer: Eddie said No. That means it's permanent.

Lazy-tan: It's good that you recognize you were taking the lazy way. It's better that you're willing to clean up the mess you made. Please read Zero Context Example and How To Write An Example, and then I'll lift the suspension.

immortalfrieza: That reasoning strikes me as valid, since I didn't find the discussion that established the change regarding Unfortunate Implications on works pages, and @Fighteers edit changing the definition was several months and nearly fifty edits prior to you changing it back, which means it was no longer showing on the first page of the edit history. However, regardless of whether you think Unfortunate Implications should require citations or not, the wiki policy is now that they do, on both the main page and if the trope is listed on a works page. Can you live with that?

I can, though I still hope that needing citations on that page will be overturned at some point. In fact, I'll probably just avoid the Unfortunate Implications page entirely.

@Madrugada

Thank you for lifting the suspension. However, I've tried clicking on the "edit page" button and I'm still receiving the editing suspension warning. I just wanted to let you know.

"No" as in "No, you're never editing any article ever again"? That seems excessively harsh, I know I overreacted but giving me a permanent edit ban just because I mocked one person about sticking too close to the rules is taking it a bit too far, even if it was with needlessly harsh words. For what it's worth, I did apologize to the person in question and explained the reasoning for my sudden outburst.

Again, I'm sorry about being needlessly rash and would like to still contribute to the site, especially in regards of obscure titles few other people seem to add info on. I would really like you to reconsider this decision.

[up][up][up][up] How about the fact that I've learned many a lesson in not being hostile on the internet, and that I know for a fact that it won't happen again? Besides, I was only suspended because of cussing the second time. I know you won't believe me, and I don't blame you for thinking I'm full of it, but I have matured a lot from then and now. I hope you'll make the right decision.

Sorry for the double post. I left the posting box open for like 6 hours, and I can no longer edit my posts.

I understand why I got my posting privileges revoked, and I also won't do it again.

I figured three variation posts, and a fourth in spanish, with other users posting between them wasn't really spam, but in hindsight that was a kinda stupid thing to think.

Ok, I'm back.

Another Gamer: Looks like I completely misread the meaning of Eddie's postsad. He has already lifted your editing block.

bubblesishot46853: Ok, see, "I've learned my lesson, I've matured and I promise I won't do it again." is a reason to lift it. "It's been a year" is a statement of fact, but as an appeal it's kind of weak. Lifted. You're on your last chance.

Offensive Handle. Ok, sounds like you get it. Lifted. Welcome back.

So, I can no longer post. I have no idea why.

Did I do anything wrong? I'm certain I didn't.

Aldo930: You were thumped repeatedly and told to get your rage at The Mysterious Mr Enter under control back in May, when you were splashing it all over in the "Your own "Dude Not Funny" moments" thread in Western Animation. You then dumped it in the "Are people too sensitive?" thread, which got you thumped some more, and was a contributing factor in that thread being locked.

And now you decided to use the dedicated The Mysterious Mr Enter thread as your little ranting ground, which was, again a major factor in making that thread so toxic that it was locked.

You can't seem to keep from spitting bile on the subject. I don't know what the hell the feud between you two is, or who pissed in whose Cheerios first, but These forums are not the place to carry it on.

The fact that you are saying "I'm certain I didn't do anything wrong" despite having been warned about the exact same behavior twice before within the last three months makes me believe that you simply don't understand two of the very basic rules of this site: 'We aren't about complaining', and 'Don't bring your pissy little wars here. We don't want them.'

You can still edit the wiki, but your forum ban stands, for at least a month. Check back here in the middle of August. Not before.

[up] If I can make an argument in my favor...

The thing is, he's a controversial person because his fans are currently harassing an innocent person. It's my Berserk Button, I know this, but it's an utterly horrible thing. Casey might even be able to sue for slander.

And the "Are people too sensitive" thread was actually in February, well before the whole issue with Casey Alexander came up.

Yes, he's controversial. That does not excuse your behavior in the forums. It does not justify you continuing to do something that you've been told twice before to quit doing. It does not mean that you don't have to be civil if you want to post here. In short, it does not trump the forum rules.

[up] I would like to mention that I tried to be civil. Much more than Jinbo's posts in that thread; as much as I try to be his friend, he was being a little too hateful towards the guy.

And it was in a topic about the man.

I'd suggest that there never be another thread about the guy again. He's an incredibly controversial topic and for good reason.

Jinbo is another topic, to be settled between Jinbo and the staff. And "I wasn't as bad as him" is not a defense that has ever, or will ever, work.

OK; I'll take it like a man. I'll accept my banishment.

The problem is - I'd at least like the privilege of being able to view the posts so I can keep up with stuff and not have to log in and log out every time.

And how about PM privileges?
