Gilgamesh is always getting his ass handed to him like a chump, so that's nothing really new though.

Holy Grail, huh? Cool story, bro.

Heh the idea Rama is a Saber just cause he thinks its cool reminds me of how I believe when designing these characters historical accuracy comes second to rule of cool & rule of sexy, especially the latter when it comes to the women. I mean what was the design plan for Rama exactly, red-head pretty boy who looks exactly like his lover? I can understand taking liberties & I admit I don't mind some of them but they sometimes go to far, at least for me.

Imagine Archer being a thousand times more petty with his dislike of his past self. That's how the fight between the two Wavers felt.

So when the protagonists first meet Young Waver and Iskander, Adult Waver's first instinct is to start insulting him for being so dumb. Then they hurl lots of insults at each other with El-Melloi II calling Young Waver a piece of shit a few times and then says that his past self should just go choke on some rice and die. While they're arguing, Iskander knocks out his master with a forehead flick to stop the argument and leaves with the unconscious Young Waver.

Also lol at Kayneth crushing Diarmuid's hopes to get out of the Holy Grail War.

Saiga: He is overpowered, though. He's a match for Karna.

In his legend or in FGO? Because I just mean FGO, where he's a 4-star (compared to Karna and Arjuna's 5, and there is some connection to stars and power) and I don't recall him being portrayed as OP in America's story.

Someone notes that he's as strong as Karna. I don't remember who. Da Vinci maybe? I mean, I know I've joked that stars always equal power but that's not what I mean.

In terms of actual mythology I'm pretty sure he's one of their greatest heroes, if not the greatest.

Note that stars doesn't actually equal their worth beyond gameplay, with the typical exception of 5-stars who tend to actually be that powerful. Arash is extremely powerful in Prototype and without him and Bryn Arthur wouldn't have stand a chance against Ramses.

Yet he is 1 star.

Okita is five stars, despite having mediocre stats, weak Noble Phantasms, and a skill that, story wise, makes her even weaker.

Florence is also five stars, despite being a nurse with little-to-none combat experience.

That's why I said the typical exception of 5-stars. I know not all of them fit there.

How are Jack's stats cause is the reason why a lot of pretty girls 5-Stars is cause of pandering waifu bait & all that shit?

Also funny thing happened today related to Rama. I have a classmate who actually is Indian & near the end of the class as it just came to mind I told her bout Fate's version of Rama. I couldn't show her a picture of him though I accurately described him & while she may not be pariculary relgious or into the Hindu mythos she still knows who Rama is & upon hearing my description went like "I have no idea who your talking bout, that doesn't sound like Rama". Heh its just funny hearing an actual Indian's opinion bout this shit.

[down] Yeesh what abysmal stats.

Stats don't mean nearly as much as skills and powers but in Jack's case those kinda suck too. The effects of her skills and N Ps are pretty awesome but have some mightily niche requirements like having to attack women on foggy nights.

Then again, Assassin. They all suck in non-AGI stats and have to rely on stealth, it's kinda the point of the class.

[up][up][up] That depends on how you describe him. There are things that people usually missed because of cultural osmosis. For example, what people know about Vlad is that he's Dracula, which missed the point of his legend. In Rama's case, everyone with slightest hint of Ramayana knows the epic is about Rama rescuing Sita from the demon king Ravana and kicking a lot of asses with his wingman Hanuman, but they don't know the story doesn't end happily and just stop after the entire 'rescuing princess' business is done.

[up] Wha?

[up][up] Well if the story is accurate then that's a good thing but i'm talking more about his actual design, Rama's look in general. Like when I was talking to my friend I made no mention of Rama's story or role in the game I just told her his look in-game as a red-head who looks like a women & almost exactly like his lover. That's what got the negative reaction from her, his appearance not the story. '

Hey come on, unless there are multiple endings to that (probably are given legends and such) that's only how it looked to outsiders because both of them knew she wouldn't burn.

[up][up] And King Arthur, Frankenstein, and Nero are women, Gilgamesh is a blond Sumerian, Andersen has a body of a blue-haired kid, and Hassan Sabbah are multiple people with literal black skin and shaved off faces. Describing physical appearances of the Servants to be accurate to the real life or the myth is a test of futility. If you want to see whether Nasu has a Servant right, better use the lore to describe them. Orion and Artemis, even with the entire backlash for their design and personalities, are pretty accurate most of the time.

[up] Eh yeah I know i'm complaining bout something futile & basically commonplace at this point but hey its one of those things that nag you no mater what.

I mean I like Attila now but a apart of me at the back of my head will always go "The fuck?! She's supposed to be Attila the Hun?! Seriously, the fuck?!" Its just an odd feeling that is just omnipresent at this point.

[up][up]Anderson's actually like that because it's representative of his child-like mind that could come up with all the fairy tales that he wrote in his lifetime, despite being an adult. It's explicitly not meant to be how he actually looked.

slimcoder: From what I can remember, Ravanna kidnapped Sita and tried to make her his bride for whatever reason. He couldn't just rape her because he was already on thin ice with the gods, so instead he tried to trick her into believing Rama was dead. Actually being seduced or whatever would be a huge disgrace and so forth so she kept saying no. Eventually, Rama gets her back and they go home together. She goes through some elaborate ritual that proves she was faithful, but the people still keep talking about it and eventually Rama asks her to prove her virtue by immolating herself because yeah. So she does. What a happy ending.

Or at least that's how I remember the story going. PS: Rama was pretty much the only person to ever achieve perfect... dharma? I think that's the word. Meaning he was actually doing the right thing here. Whee!

Saiga: I have heard of endings where she went 'fuck you' or whatever but I think the most generally accepted version is that she does burn herself to death for his reputation.

I've never heard of either of those versions. The only two I've heard:

1) The immolation is the ritual to purify her. She doesn't burn, because the fire of Agni won't touch the pure. Rama says he never doubted she was pure, but this just proved it to everyone else.

2) Same as above, except the Sita who enters the pyre is a shadow of the real Sita who was created to protect her from Ravana. Once she burns the real Sita comes back or something.
