[up]Man, what does it say when the walking Deus Ex Machina that is Clio and her Laptop is probably one of the LESS infuriating things that could happen in this plot?

Y'know, I was thinking. You know who would be a great person to talk with Absinthe right now? Sapphire. Seriously, just imagine how that would go.

"Look kid, I know you think you've got it bad. You don't like having to shimmy about and convincing people to sell their souls, I know you're freaking out over the thought of getting demoted back to the bar, but as someone who actually works there, allow me to say you're kinda being an asshole here.

I put in my eight hours shimmy and shaking for those same disgusting pigs, where a significant portion of the money I make goes right back to the establishment for the high honor of using their poles and making them money. If the Sisterhood decide to hack the bar, they lose busness and profits which I'll admit I enjoy to no small degree, but that also means that I don't work that day which means I'm at risk of having to skip eating for a day or two. The high point of my week is when I buy cigarets from the Grim Reaper Himself.

Meanwhile, here you are in a luxurious mansion with your own rather nice room, where all of your needs are met. All you have to do is show some leg and cleavage and convince stupid assholes to sell their souls for some insignificant something or other. Heck, you don't even need to indulge in lesbian actions like Blue and Fuchsia did. Yet here you are, following the lead of some dumbass who claims to be your friend, but has nearly gotten you into some serious shit on at least three separate occasions now, and is currently trying to get you to help her break into the boss' private vault out of what is either some righteous indignation or thrill seeking where all the risk is on YOU or Baby Blue.

Actually, now that I think on it, how the hell is that twit your friend anyway? Every time you and her do anything together, she always seems to drag you along on things that put you and your job at risk, but if things ever went south would most likely leave her smelling like roses.

Know what? Never mind. Go through with this. At least with you demoted there's a chance I'll get sent up to take your place. It'd be nice to have a roof that doesn't leak."

On the brightside despite another dull comic. Something magical occured. For the first time ever in a long time, a female character was wrong about something in sinfest.

You know what's really stupid? Monique KNOWS what the Devil's voice sounds like. She used to be one of the people hanging by his "soul stand". Both she and Slick know PERFECTLY that big D's voice sounds like (I'd imagine that he sounds more like a distinguished british gentleman rather than the deranged Kratos lookalike Monique is trying to mimic).

And yet...

Okay, Mercy, Tess, and Nana look happy, but how the hell can you tell with the others? They've got that same expressionless stare that they always do.

Honestly, someone get Keanu Reeves in here to coach them on facial expressions or something. Even a corpse will smile after awhile.

I know Tat's not big on subtlety... but you know, there is being blatant and then there is driving a tank through your house with a giant sign that says "YOU ARE NOW FEELING SAD OR I SHOOT YOU"

Don't you get it guys? This is to show us that Maverick is capable of other things than rage! Soon it will show an attempt at comforting Mr. Crybaby and then he will have shown all his detractors that even if Maverick's vagina is artificial, it is still a force of good dammit!

[up] You know what the sad part is? Had the whole previous story not happened yet I'd be a lot happier with that development. Have some time for Maverick to hang out with Lil'E and Tangy. Have her calm down a little bit, perhaps learn that not all men are evil. Basically let the now sentient machine try and discover what she wanted to be.

But no. Tats had her pick up a shotgun and almost go Sarah Connor on a bunch of people.

What a goddamn waste.

[up]But Metalix! The gun wasn't loaded! That's what makes it all OK, you'll see! They'll all see and they will RUE the day they tried to doubt Tatsuya Ishida, CHAMPION OF FEMINISM! BWAHAHAHAHA!

In all seriousness, learning that not all men are evil straight from Manhater HQ Incorporated? Not going to happen. It's like learning to appreciate all races and colours while hiding away at KKK HQ.

Right now, somewhere on Tumblr, there is an SJW using this comic as an example of trigger words. Of how Lil'E is so emotionally unstable that anyone around him uttering the words "Family, happy, parents, joy, or Tuesday" in any context will cause him to break down into tears.

Why? Why is Lil'E still like this? This isn't sympathetic. This is just pathetic.

Where's the kid who would be completely anti-everything nice to a comical extreme? Where's the kid who would call people derogatory slurs for no reason? Where's the kid who actually made us laugh?

Is this supposed to be development? He got his mind wiped. That's not development. Give him his memory back and let him decide which path is better. THAT is development.

Sorry, humor is an oppressive tool of the pariarchy and has been expunged from the comic. Have some radfem parables instead.

[up][up][up]Y'know that's something I could never quite figure out. I mean, I can understand and agree with wanting to be sympathetic and help people who have been through traumatic events, and I can understand wanting to keep them from having to revisit those horrific memories, but literally ANYTHING can be a trigger when you go through a horrific event. It just depends on the details.

I mean, take Ellen from I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream. She was raped by a guy in a yellow janitor jumpsuit in an elevator in an office where she just applied for a job. It was a horrific experience for her to the point she couldn't even testify against the guy out of sheer terror. Her trigger afterward was the color yellow with a bit of enclosed spaces, but there could've been more or others there such as office buildings in general (She would never had been there to begin with if she didn't apply for that job.) High Places, (Again, elevator.) Janitors in general, or even elevator music.

If you're gonna try to make people stop using potential trigger phrases, you might as well make people stop communicating altogether. Except even silence could be a trigger for people forced into VERY quiet solitude so even that's not gonna work.

I dunno, am I missing something here about what all they're trying to do?

@Metalix: Without derailing things too much, I can say this about trigger warnings. Its a theoretically noble cause that falls apart in both theory and application.

I can send you a PM with the long version, but the short version is that its actually detrimental to try to just completely avoid certain things for the rest of your life after a traumatic event. It reinforces the idea that you are a victim and your experience has changed you, and that you're now so broken by said trauma that even mentioning (Insert something related to traumatic event here) can set you off, or "trigger" you.

The most important thing to remember is that those who go around advocating (read: demanding) the use of trigger words do not understand how PTSD works.

Through the eyes I have known you.

New Sunday up. http://www.sinfest.net/view.php?date=2014-09-07

So, Fuchsia is terrified of being found by her old boss and The Devil knows about Lord Peckerhead's art expo, but opted not to destroy anything.

Also, Good Samaritan Sapphire. Nice to see someone do something decent sensibly. If Failnique had been there she likely would've tried to make Fuchsia spit on The Devil or something.

Do have to admit, I love that fifth panel.

But, yeah, Devil should have blown that place to the ground.

Maybe it's because it's funny and reminds you of better times for this comic?

Anyway, tell me again why should we hate and fear the Sinfest!Devil? I mean, here he is, walking around an art expo of a person who is planning to overthrow him. He has all the power he needs, both physical, magical and social, to utterly destroy the place and not suffer from it.

And... he doesn't. Tell me again how this guy is supposed to be horribly oppressive and controlling? I mean, back when he was pro-war, consumerist and all that jizz he was a lot more active and actually did stuff, instead of just "I should do something... I guess... nah...."

Another fourteen panels of no development whatsoever. It's like Tats is afraid of having his characters DO something.

Mandemo Since: Apr, 2010
#8400: Sep 7th 2014 at 4:25:57 AM

I think Tat's want to do more, but since he is restricting himself to 4 panel format, he can't do much. Because he doesn't have the space to actually show anything more.

He should just start doing "normal" comic pages if he actually wants to tell a deep story.
