Funny, that's the same thing I would say about Rin's route. And Shizune's route.
I just would recommend to take the one, that seems more interesting. Me, I took Hanako and certainly don't regret it.

People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.Granted, Shizune's route also feels different from any other...
Rin's route, I thought felt kinda similar to Hanako's, which is also somewhat similar to Lilly's to an extent... *shrugs*
But yeah, again: For the first time, you should just make your decisions as you feel like.
I think Rin's route was pretty different from other routes. You can't communicate with Rin and unlike other routes, you interact less with other people. But I agree that you should play as you feel like.
My hatoful Monster Girlfriend is the President Ecstasy: Higurashi After in Summer (All ages memorial edition)Just play the game. Enjoy it as it comes.
There's no right or wrong way to enjoy Katawa Shoujo, honestly. :)
How do you get the scene that's listed between Home Field Advantage and No Recovery?
Its the only one in Act 1 that I have left to unlock.

I'm enjoying this game, but I seriously don't understand the point of transferring somewhere new at the very end of your last year of school. Whatever Yamaku Academy is doing for Hisao that he so desperately needs and couldn't get at his regular school, they don't seem to be telling us.
It's not that Yamaku is doing anything specific, I believe, it's just that it's more equipped to deal with him than a "normal" school.
The Nurse at his old school may not know anything about his condition, or other students may not understand, or what have you.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Constant medical surveillance because of Hisao's unstable heart. His heart could easily give out at any time under unfavorable circumstances.
I thought the game made that clear in the intro.

Full Battle ModeIt becomes fairly obvious in Emi's route as he makes frequent visits with the Nurse due to his running. Basically, with an arrhythmia one is at an incredible risk for mild to serious heart attacks quite frequently. His normal school would not have the facilities or staff to respond to such a situation nearly as well as Yamaku.
"The marvel is not that the Bear posts well, but that the Bear posts at all."I could say what they did, or I could say that now that Hisao is ill, he's become an embarrassment to the family, so they quietly sent him away. I'll go with that.
@doineedaname: Do the things that make Shizune like you, then exercise with Emi and push yourself.
It's not like his family ever shows up after they dump him and his luggage at Yamaku.
Or even call.
Or write.
Or anything.
Seriously, fuck Hisao's parents.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."^ Exactly! He embarrasses/shames them so they sent him away.

Kenji's parents sent him his hooch, didn't they? That means that Kenji has more contact with his parents than Hisao ever does after moving in.
Rin's parents aren't any better, now I think about it. They don't even show for her big important art show thing. Lilly and Emi are actually lucky to have one decent, involved parental figure apiece.
Just cause it's a cultural thing doesn't make it less messed up.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."You know, that trope is awfully vague.
It is? How so?
Eh, never mind.

I think his parents are calling him regularly but since it's not an interesting detail, we don't see that. Also he was planning to return home in summer break but that didn't happen due the circumstances in every girl's route. Also in animes, it's rare to see parents regularly so I don't think it's suspicious.
My hatoful Monster Girlfriend is the President Ecstasy: Higurashi After in Summer (All ages memorial edition)It's common alright, Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Xamd Lost Memories are among the few I know where the parents have an active role (and in the former, several of the other girls are orphans). I guess it's because the focus is on young and growing children, and if you include the parents that more or less triples the cast with a lot of characters who cannot be given much attention.
Actually, it accurately reflects teenagers' way of seeing things in normal circumstances, when the parents are just not that important to them socially. But when a major crisis comes like in Rin's route, I would think parents would be the first people to turn to. Their absence is indeed odd, looking back on it.
On that note, Rin's parents have become a running gag in the fandom. Take a look: http://shimmie.katawa-shoujo.com/post/list/rin%27s_parents/1
A blog that gets updated on a geological timescale. You know, for all that I'd run out of room in the tvtropes review function just discussing all the things I thought were problematic about Fate/Stay Night, and I'd heard in advance that the sex scenes were going to be ridiculous, I honestly didn't have a problem with them. Not that they were well written, but I've read plenty that were so much worse, my standards have been lowered to the point that Fate/Stay Night was able to meet them. I've just fallen into the habit of assuming that the viewpoint character has gone stupid with lust and can't be expected to narrate properly until they get it out of their system.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.Wrong thread, but I personally found the first sex scene in FSN to be so funny it hurt. It was that bad.
I wouldn't call Emi's route a good starting point because its tone is completely and utterly different from the rest of the game.
