So basically just people with huge nostalgia boners for the original game.
Which, y'know, fair enough, if you're a fan of the original you may not like the fact that the series has retained so few of that game's mechanics.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Egoraptor doesn't say puzzles suck. He says that "Find an eye and shoot it" puzzles suck.
OMFG, reading that is just urrrrgh.
Soooo much overly dramatic flowery language...And beyond that, and the fact that it's so whiny, it's irritating how he presents his opinion as absolute objective fact.
Anywho...Is it confirmed if Hyrule Warrior has online co-op, or is it only offline?

so...
im just gonna avoid the subject for the most part except to say that im a little wary of people who claim to be fans of a series while at the same time declaring that the entire series has been a downhill slope since the first game. also in light of his statements regarding the series as a whole, i find his snide "we longtime Zelda players (the actual fan base)" to be ridiculous.

Which really grinds my gears. Why are people still sticking with the series, knowing that the puzzles have become the core of Zelda?
And people have been cheering that open-world is THE big change the series needs, ignoring that a bigger overworld will just drain development time from the dungeons.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Yeaaaaaaah, I don't really agree with Egoraptor about much, but he didn't say puzzles suck, he said that pointless stuff like "Look around the room to see one eye right above door to shoot it" puzzles are pointless
People like puzzles?
Not sure what is so hard to get at this point. :/
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol. There's the fact that Skyward Sword almost completely cut the overworld to put more time into dungeon puzzles.
And it's only right now that people are realizing why that was the problem with that game.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I thought the problems was the shitty, unresponsive motion controls.
I had zero issue with the lack of a real overworld.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."So, basically, a very vocal (and possibly nostalgia-driven) minority hates the puzzles. Okay then.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.i thought the problem was more with the shitty, intrusive, demeaning and hand-holding companion with a fixed text speed and a helluva lot to say with absolutely no personality to make it tolerable.
but then thats just me. i cant complain about the motion controls after all; they worked for me.
Fi was pretty annoying, but she still had a few humorous moments to make up for it. I hated the motion controls from start to finish.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."... What happened to your Wii to make it so unresponsive?
Seriously, SS was a wonderfully fluid experience for me.

I sure said that!I had absolutely no problems with SS's motion controls, and I'm usually pretty finnicky with motion/gyro controls.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Skyward's motion controls are part of the reason I'm still having trouble playing it. Though it's mostly because of how it starts to hurt if I play for more than 30-45 minutes.
@Cassidy: I don't think anything's been said about online multiplayer, but I'm certain that Hyrule Warriors will have it, considering many other Warriors titles have online play.
Yeah, the swordplay was great. Everything worked the way I wanted it to.
But I guess I agree that the main problem was the bare-minimum overworld of Skyward Sword. It needs more than that.
But they shouldn't go to the level that the Wii U game is going to. It's just going to drain development time from the dungeons and puzzles.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I found the SS controls to be great. Except thrusting. I couldn't get that to work consistently.
I personally can't tell how people want Zelda to change. Artstyle? Happens all the time. Setting? Wind Waker. Structure? ALBW. Core gameplay? Phantom Hourglass and Skyward Sword. People say Zelda has barely changed even though it changes constantly with each installment. It may not be the changes they wanted, but it changed.
SS focused on density over exploration. Zelda U looks like it'll do the opposite of that. I'm sure the world will be big, but I'm positive anyone looking forward to a big open world like Skyrim is going to be disappointed. No way are we going to get that much freedom.

Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.I don't know. Maybe it wasn't unresponsive... but I had a hell of an unfun time even getting one hit on every generic Bokoblin, and thrusting and Skyward Strikes never happened for me.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."to be honest, i dont really care what direction a new installment goes, what itchanges or what it doesnt.
im probably going to enjoy it to some degree and theres no point judging before its out.
...something a lot of zelda fans seem to disagree with going by the reactions to pretty much every console game from announcement.
but anyway, so eh. the new wii u might focus a lot on the overworld. okay. even if it wasnt my cup of tea i'd still be willing to see where they go with it. zelda devs can consistantly pull good stuff outta something or another. i dont see why this one aspect that isnt usually the focus would be any different.
i mean come on, ive never tuned into zelda for a single solitary element in any of their games. its a package deal, and they experiment often enough that i can give them the benefit of the doubt.

@Sterok: It's because Zelda is always like this:
- First set of dungeons
- Master Sword
- Second set of dungeons
- Final dungeon + final boss
Believe me, I've tried to argue, but there's no other series as formulaic as Zelda is in that respect. You can change anything else like the gameplay or setting, but Zelda always follows that.
And for some reason, people think that an open world will change that formula, when it will change ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it in reality.
Nintendo needs to focus on changing that formula, changing anything else is not enough to be considered significant.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. What really needs to change in that regard? The only real thing to move is when you get the Master Sword, and that isn't even in every game anyway.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!skyward sword sorta switched that formula up by having it go:
- first set of dungeons
- spiky chicken
- groose
- more overworld stuff
- 2nd set of dungeons, preceeded by a stealth/run the fuck around segment
- master sword upgrades after every 2nd set dungeon
- arise, chicken arise
- FILLER
- groose saves the day
- final dungeon
- ghirahim dances
- all the unimportant stuff that happens after that.
Honestly, I see no problem with that formula. To me, it's no different than the sense of familiarity I get whenever I notice certain tropes in play and it's that very sense of familiarity that I like about the series.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! That formula never really bothered me either. It works well enough. Slightly making it so you can do some of those Dungeons in another order is good enough, honestly.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.
- Egoraptor says puzzles suck
- This guy says puzzles are what are making Zelda stale
- A lot of people here wants Zelda to get rid of puzzles.
