The Snowy regions were very copy paste and got dull quickly. Gerudo region was one of the worst in the original game. Music variation there would have been nice.
-Witty line-I feel like Mt. Lanayru being covered in giant ice crystals and an ancient road leading to the sacred spring at its peak, and Gerudo Highlands being made up of flat mesas made them feel pretty distinct from each other and from the larger snowy area of Hebra.
I don't know what y'all are talking about, the jungle in BOTW was where you found the most important things in the game: the hearty durians.
1. They had already developed the concept for the region before attaching the name Tabantha.
2. Since its name was just "Tabantha Wildness", not "Tabantha Swamp" they see the concept as flexible, certainly mountains, lakes, coniferous forests, and dry canyons do fit the criteria of wilderness.
3. The nearby Ludfo's Bog was originally part of Tabantha Frontier before they changed their minds and made "Hyrule Ridge" its own subregion of Central Hyrule.
Evidently Link already performed the shield-surfing technique decades before "Breath of the Wild".
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.Wait, Castor Wilds in MC is called Tabantha in Japanese?
is the first I'm hearing of this
Heart of StoneYep! Makes me wonder if there's some sort of hat called a tabantha that I just haven't heard of...
The Hebra region is an interesting synthesis of different game references, the first game to give Hyrule a snowcapped mountain range in its northwest was Twilight Princess, but the name of the mountain range is instead taken from A Link to the Past's Death Mountain (in the Japanese version of ALTTP the term "Death Mountain" was almost exclusively used to refer to the Dark World mountain), and the name Tabantha (plus the concept of it being inhabited by a wind-associated group) comes from The Minish Cap, but the inhabitants are the Rito, from Wind Waker.
You know, divorcing the Rito from the Zora was one of the game's best ideas. The Rito are too cool to be locked into the adult timeline, and being descended from Zoras never made a lick of sense anyway.
They also got a massive glow-up, even if the Feather Fingers look a little silly.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?It also removes the illogic of the rito from WW. Why the hell would the evolutionary response of fish people to a flooded world be to become birds?
I can understand the Sea Zora evolving into the River Zora but I never understood how the Rito would be related to the Zoras.
"May your heart be your guiding key"I've come to the headcanon conclusion that the Rito of Dragonroost Island are a Nonhuman Humanoid Hybrid tribe. Medli's Earth Sage bloodline comes from the Zora side of her family but that doesn't mean all of her ancestors are Zora.
Clearly, the three goddesses forced the Zora to evolve into Rito so they'd stop snooping around old Hyrule. Unnatural selection at work.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Reminds me of how in earlier Zelda games the Zora were hostile enemies, and Ocarina of time was the first game where they were friendly
New theme music also a boxI just believed that the rito where force to evolved from the zora so they can find Hyrule.

After 10 year plus years I have the confidence to be here. Let's give it EVERYTHING we've got! It's...PUNISHMENT TIMEWell, the species split does give a tribe to better represent Wind.
-Witty line-X5 That's really only a headcanon though, one that was made as a way to explain the aforementioned illogic. There's no indication in-game that this is what happened.
There's a few references in WW to the Great Sea being strangely devoid of sea life that isn't monsters. Ganondorf also mentions it along with saying you can't swim in the sea, implying the swimming meter you have in the game isn't just Link's stamina but that there's something about the Great Sea that saps your strength when you're in it. I think this is supposed to be why the Zora aren't around, they couldn't live in the Great Sea because the water is magically unhealthy, so they were forced to stay on land where Valoo gave them some of his scales and turned them into the Rito.
So then what are the Fishmen...?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! It would've been cool if there were, like, manta rays and sea turtles and hammerhead sharks swimming around in the "sky" of Hyrule.
At least the Big Catch flag suggests there's some fishing in the Great Sea.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?I mean, Hyrule isn't the only place where Zora are found. Yonah is from another Zora's Domain beyond Hyrule's borders. If the Hylian Zora were transformed into the Rito as a survival measure, another group could have moved in after the Great Sea disappeared.

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Zoras are found in Labrynna. They even have their own Jabu-Jabu whose belly serves as a dungeon.

Well, the snow mountains can feel too samey, though.
