I don't think BOTW's production was troubled at all. Yes, they ran into a lot of roadblocks with all the new things they were trying, but there doesn't seem to have been any interpersonal conflict during development.

It took longer than anticipated but this wasn't an ordeal like the shit that's happened to the last three FF games or anything.

I sure said that!

[up]What happened with the last three FF games? I know some people think the later FF games are forgettable, but what happened there?

XIII's development was hampered significantly with the problems inherent to Crystal Tools, SE's fancy new engine that actually had lots of holes, XIV had an a unbelievably poor launch and eventually had a really extensive reboot-launch, and XV was supposed to be a XIII spinoff but was trapped in Development Hell and had to be commandeered by a new director to ever be finished.

I sure said that!

Respectively:

- Final Fantasy XII is a good game (honestly better written and more to my tastes than pretty much any of the mainline FF games I've played because it's much less melodramatic), but its director left mid-development for various reasons (I heard it was because the pressure of developing a big-budget game got to him, and he probably wasn't happy with all the constraints placed on his vision as well). The game honestly isn't forgettable by any means and is in no way comparable to what happened with the next two games.

- Final Fantasy XIII suffered because the White Engine, SE's engine for PS 3-era games, turned out to be complete ass to work with, and even when they updated it as Crystal Tools it still wasn't very good. This on top of Motoru Toriyama's game design philosophy and writing (which many people dislike) meant it ended up as a divisive entry. They also reused the assets to create 2 sequels to make some more money, presumably becaused they needed to do so.

- Final Fantasy XIV was an MMO and on release it was apparently quite bad, though I haven't personally played it. They basically had to retool the game from the ground up and IIRC people were pulled away from XIII and Versus to help as well which probably didn't do that game any favors either. The new version of the game is apparently an excellent MMO and a very good game so this is probably the one that turned out to be the best in the end.

- Final Fantasy XV was Final Fantasy Versus initially and was basically spent most of its lifetime in pre-production for various reasons, including the pre-production team being mostly called to help in with other stuff, the engine being terrible, etc. Hajime Tabata was called in to get the game shipped in a reasonable amount of time, but they didn't really have as much as they needed from what I understand, they had to cut a lot of stuff, the story was very choppy, etc.

If you have any more questions about it's best to take it to the FF thread.

@Waxing Name: A work doesn't need interpersonal conflict for its development to be considered "troubled". I mean, Jaws is considered a movie with a Troubled Production because the shark thing they used barely functioned at all.

I can't go into the BOTW thread because spoilers, so I'm here for an answer to a question.

What's the recipe to the food you need to make to get the warm clothes from the old man?

While I can't answer your question because I don't own the game, you can always just throw what food you have together to find out. Even if you don't find the right thing right away, you should stumble across helpful recipes for future use.

I have been experimenting, but the problem with that is one of the ingredients is raw meat (which you can only get by hunting boats and is huge pain to do).

I didn't know you could find boats on the Great Plateau, or that you can use parts of them for cooking

About the recipe question, if I remember correctly the ingredients are: Random Type of Meat, Chili Peppers, and Random Type of Fish

Yeah, I found the fish and figured it out shortly after my post.

I skipped figuring out the recipe and just used other cold resist foods to climb the mountain. Got the Warm Doublet anyways at the top.

Light spoilers, but GameXplain found out BotW's edge is full of invisible walls, even before you hit the natural ones.

Sorry, wrong link.

I, on the other hand, decided against it, at least until I have a stable source of income. I may end up getting it on Switch after all.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

So... is there a suggested order to go to each of the four main objectives in? Or are they all about equal in difficulty?

Edit: Speaking of difficulty, man this game doesn't pull any punches. I just fought Lynel up near Zora's Domain. Was I supposed to be getting OHKO'd or nearly OHKO'd by all his attacks, and nearly break every sword in my inventory trying to whittle his health down?

I'm not gonna say anything story-spoilerish, yeah. Just discussing some gameplay.

Speaking of which, heads up for anyone who regrets their choices of goddess statue rewards; there's a Chet Rippo-esque service in Hateno Village who will turn your Heart Containers into Stamina Bars or vice-versa for a fee.

See, that's what I thought, but that statue throws it into question. Or maybe it lets you put them above normal maximum (in exchange for reducing the other, of course).

I'd also like an answer on "which objective are we supposed to go to first" thing. I'm getting my ass handed to me in Gerudo Highlands, and I can't tell if it's because I'm underleveled or just terrible at this game.
