Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

6 NES? I hope you dropped a letter there by accident.
Not Three Laws compliant..... yes. I did.
On the topic that's actually fun to discuss, I've been meaning for ages to restart a proper runthrough of Final Fantasy II. I have the PSP version, but haven't cracked it open yet, so I think that's the version to try next. I just kind of have to psych myself up for it - I sometimes think that the worst part of FFII is the beginning, because getting to the point where you can leave the opening area (especially in versions where they took out some of the Game-Breaker mechanics) is such a chore.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.FFII is basically Stat Grinding : The Game. Prepare to bash your own head in several times in a row as a group of hapless Goblins stares at you.
The Emperor's a pretty great baddie for how primitive storytelling techniques were at the time of the game's first release, though.
I sure said that!Yeahh, 2 and 4's opening hours are brutal. 2 is just a grindy slogfest, and 4 would have been the same if it wasn't for the fact that healing items were as rare as the pheonix that spawned them.
I wanna introduce my friend to Final Fantasy and RPG's in general but I cannot find one with a good paced opening.
Well met Friends! I say well met!V gets going pretty fast, but the job system isn't introduced until a bit of the way in. 9 isn't bad about it either.
Now that I think about it, Final Fantasy 9 actually has some of the most horrifying stuff in the series. What happened to Lindblum and Cleyra terrified me as a kid.

Not Three Laws compliant.Final Fantasy VII has a fantastic opening. Perfect, really.
unfortunately vii's visuals have aged extremely poorly, but outside of that it's a good an introduction as any.
New RPG from SE for console to be revealed next month. It's not a remake of another game.
Oooh, nice.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I am gonna see what it is before concluding anything about it.
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!That's quite vague. And no word on whether it's a new IP or perhaps rekindling an old one.
I want a new Valkyrie Profile, but Square only hires Tri Ace for low-budget sequels these days. :/
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerMy guess? FFX-3, DQXI, TWEWY 2 or a new IP by Toriyama.
I may be the only person alive who doesn't want TWEWY 2. And I REALLY hope it is not X-3.
Weirdly enough, I want a new IP. Not from Toriyama, though.

Is this a Jo Jo reference?I mentioned him because he started work on a new game(which we know nothing about) while also working on LR.
If I could choose the new game it would be Cry On.

One problem with Final Fantasy III is that Xande is one of the most sympathetic villains in the series (from what little development he gets), but he's ultimately replaced with a motiveless force of nature.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"I'm expecting the reveal to be a new Dragon Quest or a new sub-franchise within the Final Fantasy franchise (ala Crystal Chronicles). I'm also hoping that it's some news on Rise of Mana. >_>
After looking at Square's Jump Festa page, I doubt it is another Final Fantasy. They already have six in development at the moment.
A fool can hope its a new Parasite Eve game, yes?
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyRight, forgot about Jump Festa. This is the current line-up:
- Dragon Quest Heroes – Demo, trailer, stage.
- Dragon Quest X Online – Stage.
- Final Fantasy Explorers – Demo, trailer, stage.
- Final Fantasy VII G-Bike – Trailer.
- Final Fantasy XV – Trailer.
- Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius – Trailer.
- Final Fantasy Type-0 HD – Demo, trailer, stage.
- Final Fantasy Legends: Space-Time Crystal – Trailer.
- Bravely Second – Demo, trailer, stage.
Could still be a FF game. Three of them are mobile games.

Oh you and your Taro madness. I don't think it was a Square IP though. Access Games is independent from them.
I'm interested in Explorers and Bravely Second. And wow, has Agito HD completely disappeared from the radars after the announcement that it would be pushed back?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - Fighteerthis would be lovely, though i think it'd be too good to be true.
Sakaguchi promised a game that makes you cry every 5 minutes. I want to see what he and Yoko Taro actually came up with someday.
My enjoyment from depressing JRP Gs is too strong!

I still hadn't gotten past Mom Bomb yet, so in the grand scheme of things, it could've been worse.... I also am going to have to replay 5 Advance, 6 SNES (which I was gonna do anyway, admittedly), 7, and what little progress I had on Tactics.
