Also, @Fighteer: When you say you glanced through the first chapter, can you clarify if mean the first story arc, or just the first chapter of that arc? Because there is precisely zero sex in the first chapter of the first arc.

Given Erik's statement...Fighteer, did you literally mean that the first chapter was smut? Because if what Erik's saying is true, it sounds like that's disingenuous.

I'm not particularly interested in reading this fic, but it sounds like I may need to look for myself.

EDIT: The first chapter has no sex in it, I have confirmed this. I am changing my vote back to Keep and requesting that we hold until more data is apparent. @Fighteer, can you please explain why you said that?

I see what you mean, but given that you used AI for some of the porn, how much of the writing is original, Erik? I'm much more stricter when judging works that use AI.

That literally doesn't matter. Right now there's no clear rule against works that incorporate AI, and it certainly isn't related to content policy.

Not voting just yet, but if we eventually keep there is probably a The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours conversation that should happen as well.

So I've read through "Escape From The Lost World". It's a fair fan-story set in Star Wars: Roleplaying Game.

The protagonist being an exhibitionist is only addressed a couple of times. The first porn scene occurs at about half-way point with some "masturbation makes Force stronger" excuse for a few lines, which can be ignored. The second porn scene is some "dark side-controlled vine tentacles", which is defeated by turning the tables. Aside to those two, everything else is effectively PG.

The story ratio is approximately 90-95%, with the same structure as Yoda training Luke in the The Empire Strikes Back, Sarza learning force to repair her ship and confronting a phantom in the forest.

For the first out of four stories, it's definitely a keeper.

@Mrph: I do understand that policy, and if there are edits that need to be made, I will not fight them.

Ok, thanks. Having the first of the four stories being not entirely porn is a fair start, though I prefer to be on the safe side and have a through examination of the rest of the books just to be sure.

Yeah, I'm going to withdraw my cut vote until a more thorough review is made.

I feel like I've contributed all I can to the review process, anything more would just be tooting my own horn (not like that!) I'll remain on-hand if anyone has any questions for me.

From what I read, I found the story to largely be an excuse to justify the characters' nudity. If we look at the "what is the purpose of this" test, that's the point. It's about them being naked and sexy. Whether there is sufficient plot in general to support a keep verdict is open to discussion.

In other words, fetish appeal is the primary reason for this fic's existence, regardless of what other storytelling may occur and how rich it is. If it were in an animated or live-action medium, it would be obvious porn. The characters spend most if not all of their time naked, and that fact is a primary subject of exposition. The appeal of the setting is literally "the characters are naked".

Whether the amount of plot rises to a sufficient level to justify keeping it anyway is a matter I leave up to consensus, but at the very least the images need to go (cropped nudity is still nudity) and references to sexual content should be sanitized.

I want to reiterate that we are not passing moral judgment on pornographic material, merely determining whether it is suitable for a TV Tropes article. Would a reasonable person, looking at our article and then at its source material, conclude that it's inappropriate given our standards?

There are cases where we've decided in the past, or would decide, that whether the intent is to support the fetish or not, the story is enough to stand on its own and be tropeworthy despite the porn. I am currently fairly sure that this fic qualifies for that. If it's Porn with Plot, then it's not an Excuse Plot.

Cutting the page image is definitely something we can do, though.

Yeah, I would agree with cutting the page image. As for the rest, AO3 does have account-wide content warnings for fics marked Mature or Explicit, so it's not like someone who clicks on it won't be warned ahead of time what they're clicking on.

Cut the page image, both because of the nudity concerns and because AI art is a weird legal gray area IDK if we should be getting involved with.

I thought the page image would be okay, but if it's not, that's my mistake. If it needs to be cut, I understand.

I personally consider the page image to be fine. While racy it isn't showing any actual nude bits, and I feel like generative images should probably be okay if they're for a work page from the work.

Honestly, I'm not even seeing any issues with Auto-Erotic Troping or The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours here. It's not against the rules to make a trope page for your own work, and the page was made for a work that may well prove keepable.

I don't think we actually have a policy regarding AI images. That may need to be handled by the mods if they want to make one.

It's not a policy, I just find it a bit potentially bad. I'm not gonna get into an argument about it because the legality issues are my only concern there and it's more of a possibility than anything.

I think we have (or had) a policy against them as trope images, but I'm assuming the situation would be different for a direct work image.
