I've heard of Inside The Magic. They're well known for making stuff up. Not quite We Got This Covered levels, but they're no more reliable than a coin toss.

I think that a big problem with the Star Wars shows lack of success is that they are on Disney Plus and Disney Plus isn't that successful. Like who would join Disney Plus just for Andor.

This is... I cannot wrap my head around this. The whole point of streaming shows is to get people to sign up to them. And D+ is the third most subscribed streaming service out there. Like, the entire streaming business model is basically "have a Killer App to get peoples' feet in the door and then have a back catalogue to keep them."

Going "who would possibly pay $8 to watch critically acclaimed show Andor" is just saying you don't think anyone would want to pay any money for anything.

Yeah, I read that line and was a little confused. I don't keep up with the market stats for streaming services, but if Disney+ was unsuccessful they wouldn't still be releasing new shows one after another. And this has been going on for a while now, so it's not like they're still in the "let's see if this works" stage.

What are the first two most successful streaming services? I would assume Netflix is one, but I can't think of an obvious other one. Crunchyroll, maybe?

Amazon Prime.

Being bundled with Amazon Prime, that thing most households have anyway will do that.

Ah, should have known. Just like Amazon to find a way to cheat their stats. Because the point of going by number of subscriptions is to see how popular the service is, but if everyone who already has Prime gets it by default, it tells us basically nothing. Not that I'm complaining about getting the streaming for free, it just sort of screws with the scale.

Wow, we're off-topic. So, red lightsaber, huh? Crazy.

Apparently we're getting a light whip, as well.

I also wont be surprised if one of the many Jedi in the cast turns out to be a darksider who later dies, thus letting the Jedi think the threat ended with them.

[up]Obviously, it's going to be Vernestra using it, since she used it in the books.

Speaking of her, it's apparent that Mirialans can live at least twice as long as humans. But I wonder, did this show set the precedent for that by bringing Vernestra to the show and then the publishing crew followed suit by having General Viess show up in Phase III as a wicked old lady (which would mean this isn't just a case of Wizards Live Longer seeing as Viess isn't Force-sensitive)? Or is it the other way around in regards to who influenced what? Because Viess was only in one story otherwise disconnected from Phase II's main narrative while she went on to become a major villain in Phase III.

Also, it's kinda weird that among the more human-like aliens in Star Wars, Mirialans, Ikkrukians, Sephi and Kirak Infil'a's species seem to be the only ones so far that can explicitly live a lot longer than humans. Meanwhile, the High Republic books are effectively establishing that a lot of the less human-like species can live a lot longer than them (Yarael Poof, Oppo Rancisis, Tera Sinube, Dexter Jettster, Therm Scissorship; not to mention several characters in Phase II lived into Phase I/III despite being 150 years apart). Let's just say the only human from Phase II who's still confirmed to be alive in Phase III has dabbled in the Dark Side to extend his life.

If I had to guess Mirialan age thing came from publishing side. Authors said that most general plot points for initiative were decided before the started writing, though there were some changes like Stellan Gios dying in Fallen Star. Viess being introduced in mostly stand alone comic and coming back in big way in Phase three seems like something that was long planned.

On other hand Acolyte was in production before initiative started and Lieslie hendland did work closely with authors when developing series, so I can see her seeing Vernestra and going “she’s cool, any way she will be able to be used in TV show set 100 years later” and since there is not official age for Mirialans she was given go ahead. And then Charles Soule finalised concept for Viess since now she can be in two time periods set 150 years apart.

I don’t know why, but my gut feeling simply goes to Leslie Hedland learning about Viess and wondering if Vernestra will be available.

Perfection.

I find it absolutely hillarious that after months of having mysterious Sith’s head not shown and people wondering if they are somebody audience would recognise, they turn out to be wearing a mask!

Knowing franchise track record with masked characters, probably not. Or atleast nobody from outside of series itself.

Going on my previous theories, the masked guy could be a young Tenebrous. They could be hiding a Bith and nerds would realize "I see what you did there". They might even have the same reaction if it's a Twi'lek.

Oof...that does not encourage me, because all of the speech consists of two things 'someone is hunting Jedi and we're going to try to stop them,' which is fine as a plot point, and 'totally unrebutted anti-Jedi rhetoric' (probably from the bad guy, but nevertheless, and especially that 'no one is safe from the truth' bit in the text is...worrisome). This is made worse, for me, given all the language hyping up the threat. A big chunk of my interest in the Acolyte was seeing the Order and Republic at its height, dealing with the problems which come with being in charge and having power. Having this be some historical tipping point, or larger evil scheme, or whatever...feels very samey to the other stuff we've had recently.

I mean, the series was always meant to at least lead up towards the end of the High Republic era.

Thats been clear since jump, really.

And yeah, that random voice-over guy was quoting the Sith code, so I don't think the audience is supposed to be agreeing with him.

Book of Boba and Obi-Wan are strangely left outtongue

It really isn’t that out of ordinary. Whenever trailer does that “from studio that brought” thing, they left out many works. Animated works are left out as well.

I liked both Book of Boba Fett (I'm insane, I know) and Obi-Wan, but I'm not immediately assuming this is a dis.

It might be that they're going with the stuff they know is the most popular, or there just wasn't room for everything and those were the ones left out.
