I started playing Squaredle on Monday after seeing Fernando's post here. According to the site, "Monday puzzles are the easiest; Fridays are the hardest. Saturday and Sunday puzzles tend to have fun twists." Today was the first one I had to use hints for (letter reveals).

When copy-pasting your scores, you can get the line breaks to work by putting \\ at the end of the lines. For example, here's what the markup for the above looks like:

Played Kayfable for the first time in a while and I failed like usual.

It's not unusual for the daily Squaredle to have one or two words I'm unfamiliar with, but today's puzzle had three: LATS, ZITI and TZAR (though that last one is because I use the spelling CZAR).

I was quick to find the first one because it comes up a lot in Wordscapes (although I first learned it in school, in physical education class).

Huh, you've got black squares, too... maybe it's a browser thing?

ETA: Ohhh, it's a dark mode thing! If you're in light mode, it uses white squares for your results, and if you're in dark mode, it uses black squares. Neat!

ETA 2: And if you're in high contrast mode, it uses blue and orange instead of yellow and green.

we can chat Wordle strategy! i usually use "arise" or "arose" as my opener because they have three vowels and two other common letters. think Wheel of Fortune bonus round stuff.

I like to try and pick a different starting word each time.

I play on self-imposed hard mode to get the most out of hints. Not actual hard mode — that way, if there's one or two letters left, I can switch everything to different letters and cover more ground with each guess.

I pick a random starting word each time. Today my word happened to be so close to the actual word that I just needed to figure out the first and last letter.

Today was also the first day I tried Squaredle. I'm afraid to show my result since it's not good but as I practice it more I'll probably do better.

Also, there's a Pokemon version called Squirdle where you have to guess a specific pokemon from hints based on the pokemon you already guessed (like if the generation is higher or lower, if it has the right type combo, etc).

Today was my first Squaredle too, and I got 23% accuracy. No sweat.

For first words, I usually do something ending in -east.
