Odd TV Tropes confessions

Oh that sucks a lot. Hope you can get rid of all that junk.

I only joined the tv tropes forums so I could play GET THAT PIZZA!, waiting every day for (few and far between) updates.

Every time I played the "Wrong answers only" game with a Leela avatar people would either use a Simpsons or Family Guy joke. The other games I'm not as invested in cuz they often rely more on knowing the work and/or roleplaying, or they're just not interesting after you get one answer.

Some forum games are best played if you switch avatar characters a lot, but since I stick to one character for all my used avatars I can't really play them day-by-day without feeling repetitive.

You ever just read a work page and think "wow, this page needs serious cleanup" before leaving because you just don't have the mental energy?

Something like that. I think I've mentioned this before, but if a page I'm doing TRS cleanup for has problems unrelated to the TRS cleanup, I often don't have the energy to handle that in addition to the TRS cleanup.

I really want to get rid of all the whining on Lip Lock.

I accidentally linked to a Phineas and Ferb episode when I had meant to link Unique Enemy on an entry I added to the video game section of Ascended Extra, and I didn't notice that I had done so for more than a month. 😅

I leave tabs open on my phone indefinitely to remind myself to clean them up on desktop, and then I don't.

As someone with ADHD, I relate to this heavily lmao; a decent chunk of those tabs tend to be TVT as well!

I usually save them on my to-do list and then never actually go back "to do" it.

While cleaning Obvious Beta, I found Pollardos Feos Y Mazmorros, which is quite probably the worst work page I've ever come across. Poor grammar, an absurd number of ZCEs (just go into Edit Mode and look at the example list!), misused tropes, and so on. The now-cut Funny/ subpage was entirely ZCEs as well, and the (uncleaned) Characters/ page is possibly even worse, with more poor grammar, empty folders, misplaced tropes, a broken image, and no alphabetizing.

It's from 2019?! I expect every bad work page to be made in 2013 at the latest, lol.

I have about 110 tabs on the phone most of the time because I keep pushing things to do for another day

I keep thinking the page image of Noisy Duck has a three-eyed duck.

Since that work page is for a Spanish work, the troper may be ESL, so while they'd need grammar help, I don't like mocking that.

I think obscure works (like fanfic) get a lot of ZCE because they have smaller fandoms and thus fewer people to keep each other in check, so it could be one person makes an account just to make a page for this obscure work and thus doesn't know the rules. But on the contrary, bigger fandoms can attract Fan Myopia-based ZCE. So maybe there's a golden middle ground.

So the amount of context in a work's examples is a unimodal function of the work's obscurity?

It frustrates me to no end that, on this site, the series is officially named Skibidi Toilet Series instead of just Skibidi Toilet.

Why doesn't it?

Ever since I clicked on the veido examples for Wrong Song Gag I've had Waterloo stuck in my head.

I kinda regret that there's a character I didn't mention at all in the first work page I ever made: Oliver Twisted. I was borrowing it from my school's library years ago.

In the Afterlife Antechamber is a scary man with an axe that pursues Oliver and his mom, but I don't trust my memory on what happened to him. I think Oliver chucked his axe to the distance, which dismays the man greatly because he must walk to it while his doom is in the way. His death may have allowed Oliver's mother's spirit to pass on.

I've used the random trope button to find candidates for featured tropes since I decided to start working on that section a month or two ago, and since the random trope button is broken now, well... I decided that Have You Tried Rebooting? will be a featured trope in late April (I got the featured trope list filled up to April 30 just now after getting up to about a week before that last night or so, but this trope will be featured a bit before that; the tropes other than that one were mostly ones that came from TRS projects, and the ones I chose before the button broke were often ones with double-digit wick counts).

Edit: And in case anyone's wondering, I did account for the fact that this year is a leap year; most of the tropes I chose don't have anything to do with the day they're for (I mainly reserved theming for holidays, as previously seen earlier this month with And Show It to You on Valentine's Day, though that one was suggested to me by a different mod when I discussed working on the list), but the one I chose for that day does.

On a lot of crowners I simply don't vote because even if I get involved in the discussion, I'm usually not that concerned over the actual outcome. It's whatever the majority decides. I'll usually vote in TRS, but elsewhere...

For the quote on Paradox Person, I read it in the voice of Disney's Hades. I misread the work name as Hercules, and I was trying to remember where in the movie there was someone named Zagreus.
