I always thought that linking character pages to video examples was unnecessary but there were no rules about it. I am fine with disallowing the practice altogether.

Macron's notesIt'd give me one less thing to worry about on this site, where I already have too many other concerns.
For what it's worth, I proposed deleting VideoExamples.Temuera Morrison, but instead of permanently disappearing, the page just grew longer.
I think it's fine if particular uploaders want to include these (I admit I often do), but I agree that it's undue burden to ask Trope moderators to do it if the original uploader didn't include it.
I'm less committed to adding videos to Character pages, but I think it's good for Creator pages, as videos are as representative of the Creator's work/skill as the Work itself.
Yeah, it seems pretty pointless to me.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI feel like it would be fine for Creator pages in specific contexts. Like clips of comedians doing their standup. But it's definitely superfluous for Character pages.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? The reason I wanted to get rid of VideoExamples.Temuera Morrison might sound petty: It upset me that the first Mandalorian cast member (as far as I knew) to gain Mando clips on their Video Examples page (or maybe even such a page at all) wasn't even the show's lead.
It’s pretty petty.
^^As with regular examples on a creator page I think it would make sense to link a creator page if there was no more specific work page to put it on.
Video examples must always have their main link be to a trope. That's long-standing policy. If they secondarily link to work or creator articles, I don't see a problem with it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I think if an actor has a significant speaking role in the video, linking to their Creator page is okay. Linking to a character sheet seems a little silly to me.
That criteria still makes Morrison's video page seem unnecessary, since he doesn't talk in those clips.

Considering this thread resulted from me pointing out that VideoExamples.Star Wars Luke Skywalker lacks any clips from the movies (indeed, I don't even know if that Mandalorian clip shows his face), and no mod has still added any, could I request a deletion of that page?

Video examples pages cannot be deleted; they simply stop existing if there are no linked videos. I have removed that link.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Can't they just be set to rejected? That's what the other mods do.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI think he just removed Characters.Star Wars Luke Skywalker as a source for the video. I don't remember what the video or its trope were, but presumably it was a regular video example aside from having a characters page as one of its sources.
Ah, my bad, he said pages can't be deleted, not the videos themselves.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIt was the clip on VideoExamples. One Man Army titled, "One X-Wing, We're Saved" (from The Mandalorian Chapter 16).
Like other Sources, I think videos need only tell what's it showing and where it's from, preferably a specific episodes. Really don't think character pages should be treated as sources.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI think it might make sense to allow character sheets to be listed as sources for character trope videos. That is, tropes that could be listed on that character's page (as opposed to plot tropes that go on the work's main page).
Granted, that would be more complicated to enforce than "no sourcing character sheets ever" especially given that most people have trouble telling the difference between the two.
But given the metric of "would this be appropriate to list here as a text example?", I suppose it wouldn't be too different from the cleanup of that type we already have to do for character pages. Heck, it might even be easier, since video examples appear in their own section, making them more convenient to check compared to a wall of text examples.
See I maybe be more supportive of it if anyone could edit video examples, in which case it'd not be a big deal, but the fact that it all falls on the mods to add all these extra sources is part of why I think we should just... not...
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness
Some character sheets (eg. VideoExamples.MCU Black Widow) and some creator pages (eg. VideoExamples.Mark Hamill) have video examples linked as secondary sources for videos the character/actor appeared in. I personally think this is unnecessary, since we only want to track the work/s from where the video is from. However, as this is inconsistently done (not all the videos starring Black Widow/Mark Hamill/other such characters and creators are linked to their respective pages), we should discuss what to do with these.
