NPC:

Name: Angela Howe

Gender: Female

Species: Human

Age: 23

Appearance: A fair-skinned woman with reddish-brown hair done up in a ponytail. Usually wears fairly-tight clothing without many extending parts, to (kinda) adhere to science safety. See also, this image:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/angelahowemonsterrpg.png

Backstory: Having fairly hands-off parents gave Angela the time and opportunities to grow in interest in the strange, supernatural, and monstrous. However, this also means that her relationship with her parents is fairly distant, due to becoming independent early.

Personality: Angela is a very curious and free-spirited woman, with an endless fascination with the strange. This has led Angela to pursue a hobby of scientific-for-the-times experimentation and research. She regards monsters like how someone would regard a new species of animal, and thus tends to react with excitement and constant questions instead of fear.

Strengths:

  • Ecto-Goggles: Angela has developed a pair of goggles that allows her to see creatures that are not visible to the average human eye, such as ghosts and other spiritual creatures.
  • Ray of Sunshine: Angela is very sociable, and will often try to pursue a friendship with anything capable of communication. While sometimes a bit awkward, this can calm down a lot of conflicts.

Weaknesses:

  • Average Human: Being a normal person physics-wise means that Angela can't match the strength of many monsters. While she tries to avoid conflict, it can be a problem with something that refuses to negotiate.
  • Sweater-Weather: Angela does not like cold weather. This isn't normally a problem, but sometimes it is.

Misc:

  • Voiceclaim: Dr. Molly Schumer, but near constantly exited. If you're wondering, I did just look up "female scientist" and clicked through related videos until I found a voice that fit with what was in my head.

  • Name: Kevan

  • Gender: Male

  • Species: A flying lizard/bipedal dragon

  • Age: Exact age unknown, but he's in his twenties for his species.

  • Appearance: An around 6 feet tall bipedal green lizard with draconic wings and horns. Usually wears a metallic helmet with a large red feather at the top, silver bracelets on his arms, a tribal loincloth, a primitive necklace with a human skull attached to it, as well as a Middle-Age-like sword and shield. (Appearance mainly based on Aeralfos)

  • Backstory: Kevan grew up in fiery mountains, isolated from the rest of the world. His parents told him many bad stories about humans. Once they died in an avalanche of rocks, Kevan has been living on his own, wandering around Grimmloch to do as he pleases. He also earned a rather bad reputation amongst humans, being responsible for several village raids and is considered a "human hunter" in his own right.

  • Personality': Kevan is a fearless loner, first and foremost as well as a proud warrior. At first glance, he's a cold, arrogant, outgoing, sarcastic, and selfish monster that only likes duels and hunts, and can prove to be awkward in conversations and is easy to anger. However, the very few people that could befriend him will earn his loyalty and could discover a more compassionate side of him. Kevan also completely loathes humans, considering them either as weaklings and morons, or cunning and cruel abominations. He has been known for saving some monsters from bad humans or helping them when he felt like it, but more concerningly kidnapping, torturing, and sadistically killing humans, monster hunters, evil, and innocents alike. He's not above fighting sapient monsters for fun too, even though he's less hostile toward them and rarely kills them unless they're jerks according to him.

  • Strenghts: Kevan has great warrior/hunter reflexes, having survived in the wild for a long time. He is also an incredible warrior, with his sword and shield. He can also nimbly fly, use his wings to create strong gusts of wind, can fight bare-handed, and of course, breathe balls or lasers of fire.

  • Weakness: Cold. Kevan absolutely hates cold, his main weakness. Living in isolation for a very long time, he is also a complete stranger to any kind of technology and considers it "disgusting human sorcery". As such, he's not bright at all in that domain. He doesn't know a thing about magic too. Lastly, when angered or irritated, he becomes stubborn, which causes him to not think straight.

  • Misc: Often than not, Kevan's way of sleeping is similar to bats. He also tends to laugh or scream in a high-pitched voice.
    • Since he detests humans, Kevan also has very bad opinions of man-made monsters or anything remotely similar to humans.
    • Though he kills humans for sports and "justice", Kevan doesn't eat them. He tried, once, but found their flesh's taste horrible.

PC

  • Name: Silas Ensha

  • Gender: Male

  • Species: Weaponborn. These creatures are born when a soul is slain with their weapon in hand, but feels a calling, to return. Becoming one with their weapon, they turn into a wood/steel monstrosity with different powers based on the weapon. Weaponborn can also fuse with different kinds of weapons to gain more powers.

  • Age: 23

  • Appearance: I am the bone of my sword.

  • Backstory: Silas always wanted to be a hero. It was his one dream in life. That was why he trained all day and night to become a warrior. However, during his first battle, he had the misfortune of facing someone much, much stronger than he was, and he fell, without making his name known. Understandably unsatisfied, he pulled himself together, cursing himself to become undead and made of swords, to achieve his dream.

  • Personality: Silas is a pretty nice dude, if a bit of an Extreme Doormat. He always wants to help others, even if it would be to his detriment, and is extremely determined to be a hero. He’s not sure what that entails exactly, but he’ll achieve it anyway.

  • Strengths: As a weaponborn, Silas can summon swords and telekinetically hurl them. As an undead construct, he has no need to eat, sleep, drink, or breathe. He can’t see, exactly, but has a sense of his surroundings, which is extended when he throws his weapons.

  • Weaknesses: If he overextends his ability, he becomes brittle, and easily fractured. Without access to weapons to refuel, he will die by starvation.

  • Misc:

Voiceclaim - Shirou Emiya (Mr. I am the bone of my sword.)

NPC

  • Name: Aes Bellator (The Black Knight)

  • Gender: Female

  • Species: Revenant

  • Age: In her hundreds. She can’t remember her own age.

  • Appearance: Aes looks like a woman in her late teens, with pale hair and skin and a wiry but muscular frame. Her armor, however, is made of obsidian, and makes her look bigger and much more threatening.

  • Backstory: Aes was once a knight in the service of a long-forgotten king. When that king was deposed through trial-by-combat, Aes became obsessed with proving she was the strongest, so much so that she died and rose just to keep killing and training.

  • Personality: Aes is, on the outside, a cold-hearted killer who doesn’t like posturing and people acting bigger than they are. However, if you beat her, she becomes much friendlier, though still cold and predisposed to murder. She likes strength and skill, and respects worthy opponents.

  • Strengths: Aes is one of the strongest swordsmasters, and it shows with hundreds of years of skill. Being a revenant only made her stronger, as she can heal off injuries and can imbue her sword with rot to destroy her opponents’ weapons and bodies, and even let out a blast of rot to annihilate.

  • Weaknesses: Aes’ healing factor is pretty strong, but if you overwhelm it with enough damage, it stops for a few minutes. You can also go for her heart, as ripping it out will stop her permanently. She’s not immune to her own rot, as well.

  • Misc: Aes is skilled with any weapon, not just swords.

Voiceclaim - Artoria Alter!

[up]Both characters approved.

You can join when you're ready, but just so you know, it would be best if you could work your character's/characters' entrance into what we're currently doing.

We're currently on the second to last floor of the Tower of Trials, a tower full of puzzles in the middle of a creepy swamp. On the current floor, we're in a long hallway, running from a giant spider. Maybe your character(s) could be at the end of the hallway, or maybe they wandered into the tower after us? I don't want to control how you play the game, but if you want to join the game now, it would be great if you could work them into the current scenario. Thanks!

Villainous NPC:

  • Name: Unknown, may not have one.
  • Gender: None

  • Species: Plant Spirit gone very wrong.

  • Age: Specific age is unknown, but ancient.

  • Appearance: Effectively one with it's forest-realm. Within, usually takes the form of a large pile of plant matter with two glowing eyes seen through a small wooden mask with two stubby horns. Artist's depiction here:
    https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vinemonster.jpg

  • Backstory: Once, in the land of hunters and gatherers, there was a spirit who wanted to expand and grow. It was envious of how the strange new species was able to grow without much expenditure to itself, while the plant spirit had to feast on the measly essences of dying plants. This jealousy grew, turning into an intense hatred of humanity and anything associated with them. As its emotions twisted, its form twisted, until it was able to sustain itself indefinitely. Of course, the primal desire to grow was still within it, and it soon started to prey on larger beings...
  • Personality: Over the thousands of years of its existence, the spirit has become something both vastly intelligent, yet very primal. When communicated to, it will attempt to lure any humans into its realm to be consumed, and convince any non-humans to join its side. However, at its core, its hatred of humanity is based in a childlike jealously towards something that has achieved more than it in their existence.

  • Strengths:
    • Genius Loci: The boundaries between a single body and the land around are blurred with this spirit. It takes the form of an overgrown forest, often with a constant drizzle of rain despite the fact that the trees seem to grow so big that the sky can't be seen at all. Its domain is located in an indistinct location within the dark forests, and seems to distort the land around it. As one comes towards what can loosely be called the "center" of the realm, the spirit's control over the surroundings becomes increasingly prevalent.
    • Corruption: Being close to the spirit can cause very dreadful effects. It fuses the bodies of humans to it's plant architecture, with theme being used as fairly weak, but plentiful guards. Monsters who succumb to its manipulative words find themselves corrupted in both mind and body, becoming plantlike in nature and being consumed in hatred as their master is.
    • Communication: The spirit communicates through the mind, with those who it wants to talk to hearing a deep, distorted voice among the sounds of creaking plants. As one gets closer to the center of its realm, this voice becomes louder and louder.
  • Weaknesses:
    • It Burns!: Being a creature made out of supernatural plant-life, fire is a big problem for it. A significant amount of fire could cause an intense amount of damage to the realm. However, taking advantage this can be hard, as the constant rain means that there has to be a large amount of fire to not be put out, and the spirit is likely to concentrate it's attention onto anyone trying to use this strategy.
    • Core: Within the centermost area of the spirit, there's a glowing, indistinct shape of glowing green energy. This forms the core of the spirit's being, and if destroyed will cause the spirit to dissipate back into a basal form, destroying its power and giving hope that the renewed spirit won't continue on its hateful path.
    • Opposing Natures: Normally, navigating within the spirit's realm is as hard as you would expect from a forest that actively hates you. However, rumors say that nature of something that has an intense love for others different than itself can push back on the hateful spirit, making navigation towards the center of it much easier.
  • Misc:
    • The villain for whenever I take my turn at D Ming.

Am I allowed to play an Invisible Man inspired character? I ask because that'd mean they're technically a human but they're my favorite flavor of Universal Monster.

Cool cool cool

  • Name: Claude Griffith

  • Gender: Male

  • Species: Invisible man, formerly visible man

  • Age: 35

  • Appearance: Claude is an interesting case. He used to be a fairly decent looking guy, with long-ish blonde hair often put back in a pony tail, green eyes and a well-trimmed mustache. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, Claude does not have a physical appearance, at least not of his flesh. Any part of his body visible underneath his clothes is wrapped in bandages, with either a thinner bandage or a set of goggles covering his eyes.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/claude_2.PNG

  • Backstory: Claude was a talented scientist who specialized in researching the properties of reptiles, particularly the chameleon. While working on a serum that could replicate the camouflaging abilities of the chameleon, he consumed the serum without testing it. This led to his entire body turning invisible, driving him a tad batty. Now with his incorporeal appearance, he cast himself away from society. He continues his work as a potion maker for hire, but rarely ever speaks with his clients in person, preferring to talk with them by letter while he festers in his reclusive home. However, he has been forced out of his lab and back into society by a mysterious letter, promising to free him of his affliction.

  • Personality: Claude is an odd, neurotic man, a description that was accurate of him before and after his accident. He prefers to be alone, but if he has to be with others, he likes the company of those as monstrous as him.

  • Strengths: Claude's body is completely invisible from head to toe. He leaves no shadow and lacks fingerprints as well. He's also a skilled chemist and has taught himself how to handle a revolver.

  • Weaknesses: Claude is invisible, not intangible. He can only become completely undetectable if he isn't wearing clothes and even then, he can be detected if covered in a powder or liquid. His mental state is also not great after the accident. He cannot bear to see himself without some kind of covering over his body and if he doesn't have wrappings around his head while talking to others, he get's anxious and even violent at times.

  • Misc: My headcanon voice for him is Jeffery Combs, particularly him as Scarecrow in The New Batman Adventures.
