Is TwoFirstNames tropeworthy?

So I was trying to finally get around removing the unnecessary soft-split on Two First Names, and looking through the examples, I'm beginning to question if this is even a trope to begin with. Aside from the fact that virtually all the examples are ZCE that violate the sinkhole policy, a lot of them seem to be pretty common surnames, which makes listing them People Sit on Chairs.

Any thoughts?

Probably not. In the description, there isn't much reasoning about the trope's existence, and no example I've encountered has tied the use to the first paragraph.

This is an odd fish. It has an eight-year-old TRS that resolved to redirect it to a new trope for Redneck Name instead. That never came to fruition, but that TRS was noted in the draft of what would eventually become Hayseed Name.

I doubt it's tropeworthy, too. In English (especially American English) it's very common for names originally starting out as surnames to also double as given names, although this tendency seems to be unique to English and not other languages, which tend to have stricter separations.

[up][up]In that case, would the decision of that TRS be enough to make Two First Names into a redirect for Hayseed Name?

I don’t think so. It’s best to make a new TRS thread.

Also, Hayseed Name is specifically about people who have names that denote that they are from a rural area. Two First Names is broader than that so I don’t think it would work as a redirect.

[up]I mean, the suggested Redneck Name, which the TRS thread agreed to turn TFN a redirect into, is also a lot narrower than what the current trope is. It seems that after the thread is closed, no one got around making Redneck Name (that's an issue with old TRS practice, I suppose — the thread is closed once a consensus is reached, even though the proposed fix hasn't actually been implemented), and Hayseed Name was created independently, but has functionally the same definition as the proposed Redneck Name.

Bump. Any other thoughts? I really don't think it's necessary to open a new TRS since there was already a consensus from the previous discussion, and I doubt it'd change much if we open another thread. It's just that the proposed action never got implemented, so doing that will simply be doing what should have been done 8 years ago.

I think a new TRS should be reopened just to cover all bases. It's one thing to enact a decision from 2019 in 2022, another from 2014 in 2022. The standards are different now, and someone might have other ideas on what to do with Two First Names.
