On news network pages

Over at the ROCEJ violation cleanup thread, I raised a point that I think would be worth discussing here regarding news network pages.

I'm talking specifically about MSNBC, Fox News Channel, Russia Today, etc. These networks aren't exactly tropable, are complaining and ROCEJ violation magnets (so much so that the former two are locked), and I question whether they are worth having around in their current state.

As for what specifically to do here, at the ROCEJ thread, nrjxll advocated for them being merged into a single Useful Notes page on American news networks, and there may be merit to that idea. Alternatively, I suggested turning Fox News's page into a Useful Notes page itself due to how often it is parodied in media, though I dropped that idea after mightymewtron pointed out that several tropes already cover that idea (such as Strawman News Media and Blonde Republican Sex Kitten). As is, however, I think the pages should be cut for not being tropable.

What should we do?

Cut the tropes and merge to a news networks (edited for better terminology) useful notes page. Not only are these not exactly tropable, it doesn't seem like the pages are popular enough with readers to try salvaging otherwise.

Wandering over from ATT. Yeah, I think they would better serve as a Useful Notes page. Fox News in particular gets alot of mentions in media, so having a UN page seems like a good idea.

Having works pages for news networks seems like a bad idea, the site's focus isn't real life or politics, and that is exactly what these networks are.

I'm on board with the change.

Also here from ATT. I agree all the news shows need a general Useful Notes page.

A general page would be good. I second this idea.

Should we make a crowner?

I've been thinking about this offhandedly for a while, and I agree that having these articles is antithetical to our stance of avoiding the appearance of promoting any specific real-life political views and also of not troping real people and events. I support transplanting them to Useful Notes because they are frequently referenced in creative media.

That's odd. Are the admins aware of this?

The option text is in the description. I added a dummy “merge” option just now.

And yes, regular users can add options to a crowner.
