Victoria Cleanup

Hello! I just made a Fanfic Recs page for Victoria! It's for a single fic, a forum roleplay where Victoria gets obliterated. I just wanted to let y'all know, since apparently there was an issue with the Fanfic Recs before? So, just FYI, the single fic on the page is definitely not supportive of Victoria.

As ~youngstormlord has been discussing cleanup on the Discussion page and started pruning some wicks, is it worth kicking this thread back into life?

If we're going to be deleting a significant number of examples as part of cleanup ("still far too many wicks towards Victoria"), there should be some consensus wrapped around that and an acknowledgement that they are definitely misuse.

I started it and immediately got suspended. Wonderful.

This sandboxed page was cleaned up, is now online as the main page for a year, it should have 35 wicks per the wicks you can read on the actual page (I wasn't the one doing the cleanup of the sandbox page). It has 409 wicks towards the page, most of which are actually wicks towards old Literature/Victoria page. Attempt to dewick it lead to suspension. I appealed it but we'll see how this goes.

I promised I won't be touching Victoria or anything related to it (lesson learned: do not remove wicks despite them not pointing to the correct page any more and deleted from the main page) but it seems that Axe 23 has been adding Victoria entries without going through the cleanup thread first.

Some of them have been deleted in this very thread for very good reasons (shoehorned, not showing up in work as written, too much "from certain point of view" gushing).

I was rereading the Troping Bigotry thread and remembered there was a consensus that Moments/ pages inherently constituted endorsement, and I see that Victoria's NightmareFuel/ page remains a good example of why, mostly celebrating the setting as portrayed with occasional clumsy disavowals. (Such as: "Colonel William Hocking Kraft. He's on the good side (if you can call it that), but you don't want to get on his bad side..." followed by Mook Horror Show-esque gushing about how much of a terrifying badass he is.)

Did that get overruled in this thread, or is the page okay to cutlist?

They aren't meant to be endorsements, but they are often used that way, admittedly.

The work page itself doesn't have to be, but Moments/ pages are for gushing about how intensely the work made you feel an emotion.

Axe 23 is still adding long deleted examples from this very thread. I messaged them but no reply.

Why those tropes were deleted in the first place?

When will suspension be lifted?

They were deleted because they were misuse, shoehorns left by a troper who whitewashed the book and pimped it across the wiki

~Axe23 rule of thumb for this work is that if you ever find a reference towards Literature/Victoria on some other trope page, you shouldn't add it to this page but clean it up and delete it there instead. If you want to add a trope again, ask in this thread, because it is very likely it was already on the page but deleted for a good reason. There was extensive cleanup effort involved in cleaning Victoria page, but wick cleaning was never finished after getting the page out of the sandbox.

You also shouldn't delete things on Victoria page without providing a reason, especially not deleting links towards Victoria fanfics.
