If the reaction for the 2016 reboot had a major backlash, this will exceed that.
Huh this is interesting.....
Wonder how mojo and Him would look in live action
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Apparently they’re just making a pilot. It hasn’t been optioned yet.
And I swear this “Old hero becomes disillusioned jerk” plot has been used in so many CW one season wonders or pilots that never got off the ground. Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, Birds of Prey, etc.
Oh, this show was doomed from the moment they said the words "live-action".
The Powerpuff Girls are canonically deformed caricatures of humanity with flipper arms and bulbous gigantic eyes. That's not an art style thing. It's literally acknowledged in-universe.
That puts adapters into a sticky position. I can't imagine the CW is going to spring for the CGI and/or effects necessary to make its lead actresses into deformed caricatures of humanity. Which means it will already very decisively not be the Powerpuff Girls that people want to see from the moment the actresses walk onscreen.
And if they did actually try to go that route, it would be intensely horrifying. It's only cute because it exists in a cartoon.
But it's not just the flipper arms and bulbous eyes. Who remembers Smallville and the great lengths they had to go to in order to not actually show half of Clark's power usages onscreen for budgetary reasons? The Powerpuff Girls are characters who live in their powers. They don't have secret identities, they don't turn that shit off for anything, and their battles are high-intensity super-fights that demolish half of Townsville - an absolute nightmare to try and depict on a CW budget.
Not only are these not characters that can be adapted well to live-action, but the general concept adapts just as poorly. This show was screwed from the moment it became an idea in someone's mind.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I'm sorry but this sounds all manners of godawful.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."I doubt the franchise is in that good standing after the 2016 reboot, and this seems like the kind of stuff that'd seriously repel audiences. What in god's name would make them think this was a good idea?
Wake me up at your own risk.I cannot think of a single villain in the entire show that would work in live action.
Also, I am fairly sure that at least one of the girls will hate her powers for turning off guys, though I pray I am wrong.
I mean morbucks and the rowdy ruff boys (teens here i guess ?) could just be played by normal people.
But everyone else in the main Rogues Gallery. Mojo, Him, Fuzzy Lumpkins, the gangreen gang. thats just going to look weird.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Why, though?
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.What?... Why?... How could anyone think this is a good idea?
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadHonestly off al the carton network cartoons they could have picked for a live action series. This is easily the one that makes zero sense? Like I cant really think of anythingthat would work in live action (the designs, the awsome and epic battles, the goofy plots sometimes) without serious changes that would make it In Name Only.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Seriously, who let the suits out of their cocaine closet again - this is exactly the kinda stupid idea they come up with if you let them.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. You know that's not at all how it works, right?
If this is only a pilot and it isn't actually going to be produced in full yet, it has got to be dead on arrival. I mean, there's so many things working against it. There's no way that this idea, starring these characters, would not go horribly, horribly wrong.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."That's entirely possible.
It is also possible the pilot gets picked up and becomes a success.
Its really far too early to do anything more than complain and speculate wildly. If you're into that kind of thing.
If you know what the show is like, then (as described further upwards) you know this ain't gonna end well.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."So should I get a mod then? Since this entire thread seems to be nothing but a complaint-fest?
Wasn't this a joke in season six? About them giving up being superheroes and becoming normal girls and stuff?
Yes:
Hilarious in Hindsight I guess....
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."...
You know what, let them go ahead and make this. Let them make this as dark as they want. I want the result to be stupid, but hilariously so.
I already hate this.
Let it exist, as said. Let's watch this self destruct.
