Trope Launch Pad Adoption Drive

What's involved in adopting a draft? I just remembered this one that was apparently abandoned a year ago (exactly one year today, by sheer coincidence).

It's in pretty good condition, just needs a little cleaning up and adding in the rest of the suggested examples. I'm willing to take it over.

You basically just declare your adoption, then get to work cleaning up anything the previous sponsor left behind.

I do feel compelled to warn you that the most serious rule you need to follow is don't launch it without at least twenty-four hours' advance notice (preferably longer) or you'll get reported to the premature launch thread.

People have been known to "adopt" a draft only to launch it without editing it at all, which also gets them reported to the premature launch thread. I don't think you'll make that mistake, so I'll spare you the lecture.

I'm considering putting a decent number of my older drafts up for grabs, because I simply have no motivation or time to work on them...though it saddens me since for some of them, I did as much as I could and got little feedback, killing my interest.

I've officially released "Bonding At The Bar", "Energetic Editing", "Friendship Struggle", and "Phishing" into the shelter. I have others I'm not sure what to do with but I have more ideas for how to salvage them, so I didn't throw those into the drive yet, but maybe I'll have to.

So the list of drafts is getting huge. Can we split it into two folders, like A-M and N-Z? Maybe split the "High Maintenance" ones into their own folder?

I'm thinking of adopting the Aliens Speak One Language LTP, but updating it to Single Language Planet so it can also cover more Fantasy-like planets that only exhibit onelanguage, like in Avatar the Last Airbender, the Dragon Prince or RWBY.

if I'm not mistaken there's already this trope. I could be wrong though. But if that's not the case, sounds a good idea.

if you refer to Common Tongue, I thought it was the same at first as well, but after re-reading the description, that trope is about settings where (practically) everybody knows the common language, but it has been confirmed there are actually different languages spoken by the different nations/species.

I'd like to adopt Imposed Handicap Training however I'm worried I might accidentally launch it prematurely. Can someone direct me to a set of conditions that a trope should meet prior to launch?

I can't recall if there's a specified set of conditions somewhere, but it needs at least 12 potential wicks (crosswicked examples, indices, "see also" in other trope descriptions), enough examples to show that it's a trope and not a coincidence like Middle Child Loves Disco And Hates Tomato Sauce, and a clear enough description to determine what is or isn't an example.

Oh, you also need:

• 5 more hats than bombs
• A completed discussion and nobody pointing out issues before you launch

Also, try to make a public announcement that you're planning to launch at least twenty-four hours before you launch, e.g. editing "Launching Soon" into the draft's laconic.

I just put my "Friendless Insult" draft Up For Grabs due to lack of motivation. I'll throw it on the pile; anyone who wants it can feel free.

Sorry for the bump but now that I'm looking it over we may need to clean out some of the list. I think some of these things got adopted and maybe even launched.

Since the sponsor of Unconventional Food Usage has not worked on the draft in just a little over 2 months, I have taken the liberty of adding it to the adoption drive sandbox. Same with Weak Hero, Strong Sidekick, which needs proper capitalization before launching.

I adopted Bait-And-Switch Time Skip, added a ton of suggested examples, and I think it's in good enough shape to be launched. Can someone check and make sure that it's ready to be launched in this state?

What do you mean by "re-make"?

Just put in the TLP again. While fixing the flaws and rewriting it.

Oh, you don't have to do that. If you're adopting it, you're just taking over the original draft and fixing that.

I'm looking into adopting a TLP draft for Shooter Games. Can anyone help me?

I'm considering making all of my abandoned drafts (Booing Crowd, Mundane Made Scary, New Friend As Mentor, New School Friend, Prized Possession Giveaway, Reinventing Themselves, Secret-Based Sitcom and Sharing Tropes) up for grabs, if not nuked for being too much of a headache. Does that sound good or bad? I've been wanting to clear out my backlog for a while but with several of these tropes I've either lost interest or can't figure out how to work with them. They're floating around aimlessly right now anyway, so, might as well officially abandon them I guess?

Yeah, give me your thoughts if this is a good idea or not. Or if you think any of them is better off just sent to the discard project instead.
