Per Ask The Tropers, this thread will be used to reduce the number of old, poorly written drafts on the Trope Launch Pad. We don't want to discuss on the drafts themselves because that will bump them and mix them with active proposals.
Sandbox for the project: Trope Launch Pad Discard Project
Sandbox for discarded drafts but viable ideas: Trope Idea Salvage Yard
The first sandbox page above contains drafts proposed in the thread that are still pending and drafts that we've decided to leave alone, either with no action or a bump.
The second sandbox page is for awful drafts but viable ideas. According to moderators, badly written but interesting/tropeworthy drafts should remain on the TLP. Rather than allow low-effort drafts to clog TLP, though, the salvage yard was opened to keep just the ideas behind them, in one place.
On this thread, we will mention which drafts we think are unworkable, add enough bombs, and discard (nuke) them. Discarding requires at least 5 bombs. Among the features of "unworkable" drafts:
- There have been no edits for a very long time, or at all
- The draft is low-effort, containing atrocious spelling and grammar and/or little to no examples, e.g. NEVER saw THAT coming (!), Nut-Chuks
- The draft was seemingly created so the sponsor could complain
- The topic is People Sit on Chairs, Too Rare to Trope, a search query created by mistake, etc. and therefore not tropeworthy
- The topic is already sufficiently covered by one or more tropes or is a duplicate of a better-written TLP draft
- The draft is problematic in other ways, such being closely tied to a page that has been historically problematic, e.g. Fetish Fuel, Complete Monster
- There's no discussion currently occurring in the comments to improve the proposal
If we decide to discard a draft after discussion via this thread, whoever does so must provide the discard reason in the comment section of the draft, for transparency's sake. Those looking at the discards section won't think it was nuked for no reason.
Also, check out the sister project, Trope Adoption Drive, where good drafts put Up for Grabs or abandoned can be grabbed, given a bit more improvement, and launched.

Sweet. I'll start digging.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessTo get the ball rolling:
-
Useless Human Syndrome: no examples, no edits, no comments -
Phantom of Heroes: Year One: no examples, bad grammar, appears to be an unpublished work. 2 hats for some reasonDone. - Normal food always tastes great: no examples, no edits, no comments
Edited by Tabs on Mar 6th 2019 at 11:44:14 AM
Don't know about two of them, but I'm tossing a bomb on the middle one, since it's...not good. And has hats regardless, which is my biggest Pet Peeve regarding TLP drafts.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe first might be Humans Are Average, or some Muggle trope, or just plain Muggle focusing on how they're not plot relevant except as a Other to be shielded.
Not sure if Humans Are Average is Sci-Fi only, and needs aliens.
Discard the second. If someone wants to make a work page, they gotta put in the work?
Last is a round-about way of saying that Editorial Synaesthesia or something is the only way to convey smell and taste.

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Here's one I just bombed. No hats, no examples, no nothing except one troper pointing out the concept is covered.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI bombed a handful yesterday before this thread opened that were poorly developed, repeats, or had a lot of downvotes — they are probably still on the list of recent discards.
Some of them have a hat:bomb ratio approaching 1:1 that also have a high number of hats and bombs. Not sure what do to with those, especially if they haven't been claimed by anyone of late.
Car Chase Truck Crunch: Good concept. Only has one example that's a subversion and one actual example in the comments. Definitely needs a better name.
Back To Basics: Pretty alright, aside from the draft needing to be caught up with the comments and the various work pages potholed in main.
Doesn't Understand Sex: Description could use a trim. Each folder only has one example barring literature, though there are a lot examples in the comments. The troper who grabbed it hasn't edited it since June of last year.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢I'm not sure what to do about those near 1:1s, either. If the commenters came to a consensus it might be better to just write a new draft to reset the bomb/hat count.
Those three tropes have potential. I don't have any examples to contribute, but they may be worth TLP-bumping. Let's focus on those that can be safely discarded. For those bare-bones, minimal effort proposals, I'd rather discard them to remove some of the TLP bloat.
Yeah, any drafts that have potential should be bumped (with a contributing post, not just "bump") instead of taken here.
Dunno about the 1:1 ones either. I've known about them for a while, but I'm skittish about tossing anything that has hats as well as bombs and had actual discussion going on.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessDiscarded "unintentional translation funny".
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!^^ If the bumper doesn't intend to take it over, they should probably put [UP FOR GRABS] in the title to encourage someone to shepherd it.
Phantom of Heroes Year One has my bomb. That makes six bombs. Should I press the discard button now?
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.Discard.
Nuked.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!Mixed Race Marriage: Majority of comments saying it's People Sit on Chairs among other problems, which I agree with. The last comment is a bump for bombs. Done.
Edited by Tabs on Mar 6th 2019 at 11:54:58 AM
^^ - Should we have left a comment on why we nuked it?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Wouldn't hurt.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI'll handle the discard on Mixed Race Marriage.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportNefarious, yet indistinct, plans: Has 2 bombs, no hats, and practically every comment is someone questioning whether or not this is already covered by another trope.
Hotel Selling Threat: One bomb, comments questioning why the restriction to hotels is necessary, no explanation on how it isn't covered by "Scooby-Doo" Hoax.
Crouching Stoic, Hidden Ham: No comments, only two examples, and yet two hats.
Reluctant Participant Becomes Victim: One hat, no examples, comment asking if it's covered.
This God is a Loser: 2 bombs, 1 hat, and now covered by Loser Deity.

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAgree that "Nefarious, yet indistinct, plans" is covered by other tropes. Added my bomb.
A few more:
No Really He's Okay: The last edit was in 2011, no distinction from Horrible Judge of Character and/or My Master, Right or Wrong.
Big collar equals badass: Low-effort proposal with no edits after creation. IMO, it's a pointless appearance trope.
life saving flight: Low-effort proposal with no edits after creation. Already covered by Die or Fly and Suicidal "Gotcha!".
Friends With Prey: Duplicate of Predator-Prey Friendship.
3-Page Book: Describes Pamphlet Shelf.
Everyone Is A Pervert: Can this be nuked already?
ComicStrip/AngusOg: Angus Og exists. What should be done about TLP drafts of works and other non-Main pages? Do they typically get nuked or left on TLP?
TroperWall: Same as above (and still puzzled over the page that was launched).
Please Do Not Feed The Monster: This is Feed It a Bomb exactly.
Sexual Ignorance: The last few comments ask if this is any different from Miss Conception. I swear there are multiple drafts in the TLP about this right now.

^ Nice finds.
I also edited my post, so please look at the ones I added.
Added bombs to No Really He's Okay, Sexual Ignorance, Big Collar Equals Badass, Life Saving Flight, Friends With Prey, 3-Page Book, Everyone Is A Pervert and Please Do Not Feed The Monster. Unsure about the non-trope pages linked.

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI recommend the song "Geronimo" by Sheppard for this thread.
"Bombs away, bombs away..."
Anyway, I bombed all those into the stone age...
Edited by DracMonster on Mar 6th 2019 at 2:33:09 PM
Nice.
Discarded "Everyone is a Pervert" and "Nefarious, yet indistinct plans" with discard reasonings left.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness- Nefarious, yet indistinct plans has my bomb. I think it's already covered by tropes already mentioned, Missing Steps Plan, and And Then What?.
- This God is a Loser; No Really He's Okay; life-saving flight; Friends With Prey; 3-PageBook: all have my bomb for Yes, We DO Have This One.
- Sexual Ignorance has my bomb because it's too indistinct from Miss Conception and I'm pretty sure I saw all the examples on the draft already on Miss Conception anyway.
- Big collar equals badass is an appearance-based trope, which if I recall correctly, those kinds of tropes have started getting a lot of flak from the moderators for being magnets for zero context examples. In addition, the name and description are vague enough to where I thought it was referring to dog collars. Bombing.
