A new day has dawned. When night fell on Easton, New York, on the first day of 2014, everything was still ordinary. Over the space of a few months, everything gradually became a hell of a lot more hectic for the harried residents of the city.

By now, 2020, the landscape of Easton looks familiar, but greatly different.

Empowered individuals became more common by the day. Some decided to use their powers for good—as the old, respected traditions of heroism dictated. Some, in contrast, decided to use their powers for evil.

Then supernatural creatures and not-so-supernatural ones practically came pouring out of the woodwork. That was extremely jarring. The public vaguely knew that empowered individuals and other such things existed, though never in such numbers—incidents were mostly concentrated in other places (and therefore of little concern).

But why did that happen?

The answer is simple—Easton is a paranormal singularity, and pulls everything odd towards itself. That discovery is still causing political conniptions.

Join the residents of Easton, and pave the way to tomorrow with your actions—good or evil!

Welcome to the fourth installment of ''The Good, The Bad and The Spandex, a reasonably freeform Superhero based RP taking place in the fictitious setting of Easton, America. I will be ONE of your GM's - this time, the RP will be run by a Triumvirate of GM's - myself, Jumping Fruit and Kage Scorpionakki.

Feel free to make your Eastonite as you see fit, and we will approve your characters following overview.

The RP will entail a pattern of one GM run "arc" or storyline, followed by two or three player run arcs / storylines, then another GM run arc.

The rules are simple;

  • Do not ghost or teleport your characters around. You have to describe how they got from point A to point B. Don't just drop them into something.
  • Do not autohit or engage godmode.
  • Do not try and get creepy with other peoples' characters. Shipping is fine, but if someone is not good with something being done quit it.
  • If your arc as a player would greatly reshape the world or cause by necessity a large shift in the landscape, clear doing that with the Triumvirate before going right ahead.
  • Create as many characters as you feel comfortable playing, no more no less.
  • Dark storylines are fine, but if you're going anywhere particularly nasty, leave a bit of a warning beforehand.
  • Make sure if you're gonna be gone or absent that you let people involved in a storyline know beforehand and try and get things cleared up involving your character leading up to that.
  • No bigotry or other unsavory behaviors directed at your fellow player. You cannot make someone deliberately and meanly feel unwelcome here.
  • Observe proper grammar and spelling, I don't want to get complaints that people can't understand your posts.
  • No Script Format. Just...no.

  • Identity:
    • Name: Raymond Reynolds
    • Secret Identity: N/A
    • Status: Hero
  • Abilities:
  • Powers: Raymond is a being of pure energy, first and foremost. He’s able to appear human, but it doesn’t change what he is. As such, he’s able to punch through walls made of concrete, as well as shoot laser beams or waves of pure energy. He can also generate forcefields or simple constructs, though due to being unaware of his true nature, that's all he can do. (Once he learns of his true nature, he'll be able to turn into energy or constructs himself, but not until then.) Being made of energy, he's also hard to hurt, but he's not unbeatable.
  • Weaknesses: While Raymond is hard to hurt being made out of pure energy, he can be contained given the proper methods. If trapped in a sufficient shield or barrier, it can be nigh-impossible for him to break out without some help. He can also be damaged if hit by a sufficient physical force, but nothing short of a superhuman assault (AKA super-strength) or high-grade weaponry could phase him.
  • Skills: Aside from his natural abilities, Raymond has also dabbled in a variety of other subjects. Gunplay, poker, lockpicking, acting, cooking, and low level engineering are just some of the talents he possesses. He’s also read up on various subjects such as philosophy or history out of efforts to find some grander purpose in life, though he’s come up short so far.
  • Equipment: Carries a laser-blaster in his shirt pockets, along with lockpicks, a lighter, a small wrench, a deck of playing cards, and various other tools and doodads. One never knows when something could come in handy.
  • Appearance: Humphrey Bogart called, he wants his wardrobe back. Additionally, Raymond dresses in all white and also has an eyepatch over his left eye. Which is also white. Go figure.
  • Personality: Raymond is very polite, calm, well spoken, and suave. He treats nearly everything like a party or a show, trying to find the fun in everything and always enjoy himself. That said, he still knows when to get serious, and places the protection of innocents above all else. Protecting others gives him something to live for especially since he’s a man without a past, and will do whatever it takes to do so. He’s also very clever and cunning, known to almost always have some sort of trick up his sleeve. He prefers using his wits as opposed to a straight up brawl, but is willing to duke it out if necessary.
    • He also has a sadder side that pops up from time to time, mostly stemming from the fact that he still doesn’t know what he is. As though he has no past to speak of prior to becoming who he is now. At times it pops back up, and whenever it does, he has to give everything he has not to go for a drink. Seeing as she’s sworn off the stuff. He tries to hide it, even pretends it doesn’t exist, but he can’t always keep it covered up.
  • Background: Raymond Reynolds was not born. Rather, Raymond Renolds was made. Raymond was created years ago by a mad scientist as a means to create his very own all powerful super soldier. A being made out of pure energy that would obey their every whim. And at first, it seemed to be going well. Unfortunately for him, such projects don’t always work out like one would hope. While he was able to create Reynolds without incident, the being itself proved to be uncontrollable. In a near mindless panic, it overwhelmed his creator and escaped its’ confines. It wandered Supercity aimlessly before being found by a powerful sorcerer called Dr.Bozo who took him in.
    • Bozo knew what the creature was, but also knew that it wasn’t inherently evil. He first cast a spell of concealment to hide its’ presence from Jason and anyone else who wanted to use it for their own ends. It taught the creature just about everything it knew short of advanced magic while also steadily altering it so that it had greater self-awareness, and taught it enough control to form itself in the shape of a man. The creature expressed an interest in the outside world and learning its’ origins, but Bozo warned caution. While he understood the creature’s wants and needs, he also knew that there might be those searching for it. He taught the creature how to use his abilities to defend himself, while also making sure it never used as lethal force unless absolutely necessary.
    • Eventually the creature formed a fully sapient personality and even took a name: Raymond Reynolds. However, in the process of becoming who he is, he forgot the earliest moments of his life. All Raymond remembers is being at Bozo’s, a fully formed human man with superpowers. He doesn’t know what he really is or where he came from, and Bozo doesn’t bother to tell him on account of wanting him to fully find himself before being confronted with something that shatter him. In the meantime, Bozo continued to help him as best he could until he was ready to go out into the world.
    • Eventually Raymond decided he wanted to do something more with his life, but felt that becoming an out and out Superhero just wasn't him. Plus he needed to make a living somehow. Instead he became a PI, still stopping criminals and helping the helpless, but in his own way. And getting some compensation for his troubles didn't hurt.

  • Identity:
    • Name: Beatrix F. Dragon
    • Secret Identity: Blüdlass
    • Status: Anti-Hero
  • Abilities:
    • Powers:
      • Cambion Physiology: As a half-demon, Beatrix possesses enhanced strength enough to shatter jaws with a single punch and crush concrete to the point of her being able to scale vertical surfaces by creating her own handholds. Her internal physiology differs quite substantially from a regular human's, and her organs are positioned in alternate places—this along with her ability to rapidly regenerate from wounds (and her irritatingly dual hearts) means she is notoriously difficult to kill without sufficient knowledge and deliberation regarding her weak points. Even then her healing factor only kicks in properly after a battle rather than during, and while completely relaxed surface-level wounds can vanish within the hour while broken bones (if set properly) can heal in days. Interestingly, she cannot be harmed from high velocity impacts if she just lands feet-first—her sarcastic claim is that she has ‘powerful ankles’.
      • Improbable Aim: Due to what she claims to be a mixture of training and enhanced reflexes brought about by her demonic origins, Beatrix is able to fire off frighteningly accurate shots at her enemies despite the fact that she wields dual pistols and is usually performing ridiculous feats of agility while she's shooting—to the point where she's rarely even looking at her target. While certainly not at Deadshot levels, it is more than enough for her to instinctively know where her guns are in relation to her body and her target's location. Weirdly enough, her self-proclaimed ‘skill’ is at such a level where she can fire even with her booted feet. Understandably this has brought to question how much of her aiming is natural and not through some sort of demonic enchantment, but her effectiveness is undeniable nonetheless.
      • Blüdraige: A tired, stereotypical edgelord transformation An entirely original state that Beatrix may slip into in situations of extreme duress and/or heightened adrenaline. In this state, her skin pales to an abnormal white and becomes coated in burning crimson markings of a seemingly demonic design, and her physical abilities are amplified so that she is faster, stronger, and even more endurable than ever. She is capable in this state of lifting cars (although not throwing them) and sprinting at a maximum speed of about 50 mph, though the more she exerts herself the more strain she ends up putting on her body. The amount of time she has in this state varies from around ten minutes to two, all dependent on how much pressure she puts on herself while in this state. When it finally fades, it is not uncommon for her to be overcome with exhaustion, and she may even pass out if she's pushed herself particularly hard. Interestingly, if she's in this state for its maximum allotted time she appears to begin growing small horns, stubs of wings, scales, and other demonic features across her body.
    • Weaknesses: Beatrix is limited severely by the array of suppression seals that have been placed across her, and though she can push them to their limits while in her Blüdraige she has so far been unsuccessful in breaking them. As such she lacks many abilities that her fellow demons share, and the ones she does are significantly lessened in potency. Her altered biology may be a handy advantage to have in a firefight—as her organs are positioned differently as to what one would expect—but they are still weak points, and if she's hit in a heart or lung (the latter of which are closest to their human counterparts) she won't take long to go down. Beatrix is also rendered particularly susceptible to demonic curses and effects, and substances/atmospheres that would be perfectly processable to full demons may not be to her.
    • Skills: Beatrix is excellent at gunplay and general weapon usage, even if it ultimately boils down to just ‘hit it with a stick/shoot it in the everything’. Despite her obsessive lifestyle and busywork she hasn't neglected her more day to day skills, but combat is her most extensively practiced capability—closely followed by being able to cook a risotto into a state between ‘rocks in water’ and ‘inedible building material’ (which is probably the ability to be most proud of).
  • Equipment:
    • Judge & Jury: A set of twin pistols that have been painted over with demonic sigils. When Beatrix is in her Blüdraige, these sigils begin to glow in order to match those on her skin, and the bullets within her gun manifest explosive properties. The guns produce more ammunition for themselves when they're not being actively used, and can be called to her person at will with a flex of her wrist muscles. Despite the fact they resemble a pair of old-fashioned revolvers, they fire at a rate akin to Glocks, and have a shot count around 30 bullets before they have to pause and regenerate their ‘clips’. These traits are in no doubt due to overlapping demonic enchantments, and they may possess a degree of influence over Beatrix's aim.
    • Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R: A totally not stolen motorcycle that Beatrix takes great pride in. It is painted entirely black and—much like her guns—is coated in an array of demonic sigils in order to give it abnormal properties. Such properties include its habit of parking itself just where Beatrix needs it, slowly regenerating itself from any sustained damage while its engine is turned off, and being able to be called remotely through Beatrix's own demonic sigils in a manner akin to Judge & Jury. Beatrix pummels, explodes, and abuses this bike in many ways while she's in action, but it always manages to limp away unbeaten—even when she's leaping off of it into oncoming traffic, smashing it into her foes or outright throwing it at obstacles living or inanimate that are blocking her way.
  • Appearance: 5'10". Sour expression that only rarely gives way to a sardonic smirk when amused. Has a habit of being absolutely drenched in blood one second only to be completely immaculate the next. Skin pales to an off white and becomes coated in glowing red hieroglyphs whenever she's in a Blüdraige.
  • Personality: Beatrix is unyielding and cocky in regards to her job, and since it basically rules her entire lifestyle this means she is unyielding and cocky most if not all of the time. While certainly not lacking the ability to think, Beatrix certainly lacks patience and prefers to take action rather than meticulously plan around any given situation—claiming she works best under pressure and can adapt to almost any circumstance. She is callous in regards to those she has mentally designated as her ‘enemies’ but is otherwise respectable towards others, if not a tad antisocial—her home being notably set outside the city is testament to how little she cares about human (or demon) interaction. Though efficient and focused on her job, she does seem to have a degree of morality to her; doing only as she deems necessary and being easily swayed into not taking lethal action if she's convinced it's not worth it. Beatrix also never involves civilians in her activities if she can help it, and consciously tries to guide her enemies away from the public—barring the occasional accident that she'll most likely drink herself into unconsciousness later over, she seems to enforce her ethics remarkably well for someone who has no clue what she's doing half the time. Beatrix is embittered towards her demonic side and usually takes out this hatred on Hell's lesser creatures, and she seems to have a sadistic pleasure in brutally exterminating whatever monster she can if it has an especially demonic resemblance. Beatrix is also aiming to rid herself of her seals, but rarely has the patience to follow through—in her eyes it'd end a chapter in her life that she's enjoying. Despite her attempts to take herself and her job way to seriously, Beatrix has a wry sense of humour and a somewhat dorkish side to her that manifests in practically everything else she does; her extreme self-confidence often backfiring in her face in regards to activities that aren't related to gunplay or jumping off of speeding motorcycles.
  • Background: Beatrix was born as a cambion to what she has reason to believe was a notably significant Demon Lord (the few lesser denizens of Hell she has encountered in her time seem to scream it at her in recognition) and who she has no reason to believe (but has fun fantasizing about) was a demon-slaying human mother just as awesome as she is. Regardless of her origin, Beatrix was unceremoniously dropped into the lap of an Easton orphanage at a young age and soon developed an infamous reputation as an impish troublemaker—one particularly violent incident involving a pencil and a ‘golden opportunity’ effectively condemned Beatrix to having her slowly emerging demonic side to be suppressed under a variety of also demonic seals (which while infuriating at the time she later admits was also a really stupid idea considering she is already demonic by nature). Eventually moving out once she came of age to pursue a lifestyle of her own, Beatrix found a means of satiating her demonic impulses for violence in the form of mercenary work—taking jobs from both up-and-coming gangs and established mob bosses alike and gaining a somewhat tongue-in-cheek reputation as one of the most stereotypically 90s figures ever to crash her way through the metaphorical window of Easton's criminal underworld. Eventually earning the mocking moniker of ‘Blüdlass’ (which she has accepted wholeheartedly), Beatrix has dialed back somewhat in extensive involvement with kingpins and crime lords and has purchased herself a mansion just outside of the Easton outskirts—though she has by no means retired, and still graces the city with her particularly ridiculous presence.

  • Identity:
    • Name: Valerie Vale
    • Secret Identity: None
    • Status: Hero
  • Abilities:
    • Powers:
      • Naga Physiology: As a naga, Valerie has various snakelike abilities and attributes, including a muscular tail, venomous fangs, an extremely sensitive forked tongue that allows her to "taste" scents, and the ability to unhinge her jaw.
      • Mistress of Serpents: For some unknown reason, likely related to her condition, serpents of all varieties are completely loyal to Valerie, obeying her every command.
    • Weaknesses:
      • Cold-blooded: Like a regular snake, Valerie is cold-blooded, with no way to regulate her own body heat. As a result, she dresses lightly to avoid overheating and will spent a lot of time basking in the sun or under a heat lamp. This also means temperature-based attacks are far more dangerous to her than others.
    • Skills: Valerie is a powerful swimmer, easily able to attain high speeds in the water. In addition, she's a drummer for her and her friends' garage band.
  • Equipment: Valerie keeps several "pet" snakes wrapped around her neck and arms, ready to be called upon when the need arises. Her two favorites are her rattlesnake, Billy, and her cobra, Sultan.
  • Appearance: Valerie is a naga, meaning that from the waist up she's a relatively normal teenage girl with long brown hair falling down her back and green eyes. Normal if one ignores the fangs and forked tongue, anyway. From the waist down, she is a large brown serpent with a tail about 2 meters in length. She favors crop tops and other light clothing so that she doesn’t boil in the Florida heat.
  • Personality: Valerie has always been a cheerful and enthusiastic girl, and what happened to her ultimately did little to change that, at least once she got back on her metaphorical feet. She's also a bit of a hopeless romantic, known to bemoan the lack of options available for a gay snake.
  • Background: Valerie was a pretty normal teenage girl with a pretty normal life. However, she had the misfortune of living in Easton. After staying late at school one day to help decorate for one event or another, she was kidnapped on her way home after dark. She never saw her kidnapper's face, but they used her as a test subject for a combination of genetic and magical experiments. Before she even regained consciousness, she wasn't human anymore. Ultimately, the facility was raided by heroes within the week, and Valerie was set free without much more damage than a new body she had to get used to.
  • Misc: Currently enrolled at West Easton High. Part of the garage band "The Flycatchers."

  • Identity:
    • Name: Mikael Freisch
    • Secret Identity: Hellhunter
    • Status: Anti-Hero
  • Abilities:
    • Powers:
      • Demon Form: Mikael is a half-demon, and inherited hellish power from his father. He can shift between human and demon forms at will, or shift only parts of his body as needed. Even in human form, his demonic heritage grants him increased strength and toughness, amplified further in his demon form. His wings allow him to fly, his claws and teeth are sharp as knives, and his tail is prehensile.
      • Fire and Brimstone: As a demon of fire, Mikael is effectively fireproof. His body is perpetually hot, allowing him to greatly resist cold attacks, and he can even coat himself in flames or breathe fire.
      • Armory of Zamiel: The power of the Black Huntsman. Best described as 'weapon creation', Mikael can essentially create and manipulate weapons using his own demonic energy. He can forge any kind of blade, firearm, or explosive. The weapons are fashioned from black iron, and all are more powerful than their mundane counterparts. He need not directly hold and fire them; his summoned weapons hover in the air behind him before firing. Additionally, he can create ammo for any weapon, even if he didn't create it.
    • Weaknesses: As a demon, he is vulnerable to 'divine' or 'purifying' abilities, as well as things associated with 'light'. Additionally, he is weakened while on holy ground (churches, temples, shrines, and the like). Mikael's fire and weapons draw their power directly from his internal energy supply, and so extensive use of them will drain his stamina.
    • Skills: Despite summoning weapons, Mikael's power offers him no superhuman ability to aim - his skills at marksmanship are entirely his own. In addition to being an excellent shot, he is a natural outdoorsman and hunter, able to track animals, sneak around brush, and make various traps.
  • Equipment:
    • Hunter's Coat: Mikael's favorite fur coat, which he made himself. Empowered by his demonic energies, it now offers much more protection than one would expect, and repairs itself if damaged. It's fireproof, and can even block some hostile magics. Like Mikael himself, it's not effective against light-based or 'holy' weapons.
  • Appearance:
    • Human: A tall, blonde-haired young man, usually rugged and unshaven, with a penchant for furs. Scars cover his arms and chest. His blue eyes turn red and his teeth sharpen when he draws on his demonic power.
    • Demon: Eight feet of red-skinned muscles, with blackened claws for hands, great dark wings, twisted horns, and a long, spiked tail. From the waist down his body is covered in black fur, ending in a horse's hooves. His veins glow like fire under his skin. His eyes are still crimson, but his sclera turn black, and his teeth are like knives.
  • Personality: Mikael believes strongly in the greater good, and in doing what is right regardless of what others think. He generally tries to be polite, but can let his anger slip out, especially when others face injustice. While he doesn't want to harm the innocent, he derives satisfaction from hunting and fighting, and will more than willingly fight anyone who challenges him. He generally avoids lethal force, but is not averse to matching those who would try to use lethal force against him, or against the innocent.
  • Background: Born in a small town and raised by a single mother, Amadea, and stern but kindly grandfather, Josef, Mikael's childhood was simple. He spent his days camping in the woods, learning to identify animals and plants, how to tan furs, and even how to handle firearms. But from time to time, Mikael noticed something... off, about himself. He'd almost trip over a root, only for the root to be torn in half by his foot. He'd have more bullets or crossbow bolts than he remembered having, and his gun would be loaded even when he was sure he'd used up the cartridge. When he was twelve, a bear mauled his arm, breaking a bone, but he recovered within a week. He realized, slowly, that he was not normal.
  • And then, at the age of eleven, his father visited him for the first time in his life. The man introduced himself as 'Samuel', but this, Mikael knew, was a lie. Behind his father's eyes was the glow of hell itself. He confronted his parents and demanded the truth. His father, in response, revealed his true form. The demon Zamiel, Master of Hunts and one of the Greater Archdemons known as the Kings of Hell. He had fallen in love with Amadea, and they had had a child. Not wanting her son to be raised in the cruel and unforgiving Abyss, the realm from which Demons originate, Amadea had raised him as a human. She had intended to tell him when he came of age. Mikael, however, felt betrayed that his mother would keep this from him. It didn't help that Josef had regaled his grandson with tales of his days as a hunter of all things demonic and undead.
  • But Zamiel turned out to be quite agreeable, and offered to instruct Mikael in the use of his powers. Mikael began to learn of the true strength he possessed, and came to understand why his mother hid his heritage. In time, Mikael accepted his demonic half, but refused to let it change who he was. With his powers, he resolved to be a hero. To that end, he wound up moving into his father's summer manor, on the outskirts of a town called Easton - a city which was apparently a 'supernatural hotspot' - and began attending Easton Community College by day, while fighting crime by night.

  • Identity:
    • Name: Ryan Brady
    • Secret Identity: Collateral
    • Status: Anti-Hero
  • Age: 23
  • Abilities:
    • Powers: Nuclear Physiology: Ryan has a truly tremendous amount of nuclear energy inside of him, able to be harnessed, channeled and directed - and it is growing every day. By the present, he has the same amount of nuclear force as a Hydrogen Bomb. He can make use of this energy to enhance his physical abilities, shoot devastating blasts and directional explosions, and even emit a full force explosion from his person with all his energy at once.
    • Energy Absorption: Ryan can absorb energy and force and then add it to his own stockpile, though absorbing too much can result in him letting off an explosion.
    • Nuclear Aptitude: Due in part to his intrinsic link to his powers, he is immune to the effects of atomic and nuclear weapons, and in fact can actually absorb the fallout and destructive energies involved, potentially giving him some interesting options.
    • Nuclear Synthesis: By exerting his power in a certain way, he is capable of generating elements owing to his familiarity with his powers.
    • Weaknesses: Ryan's emotions influence his powers, and getting particularly downcast can limit his ability to access his nuclear energy. There is also the risk of him exploding at certain emotional thresholds. He is also unable to properly absorb energy types he is not familiar with, and while he's far from dumb, he's not exactly book smart.
    • Skills: He's a pretty experienced hero, though a little rusty by the modern day. He's capable at hand to hand combat, and he's physically very strong even without physical reinforcement.
    • Equipment: His Collateral Armor, which functions to keep him from emitting nuclear energy without his knowledge. It is contained in a Caulder Tech capsule.
  • Appearance: Ryan has gone from a bright and chipper teenage hero to a visibly darker anti-hero; he is easily 6 foot 4 inches tall, 260 lbs of muscle, and it is very visible that he most definitely didn't get there naturally. His black hair is kept in a mullet (surprisingly well kept though), he has blue eyes, and his face usually has a certain amount of stubble. His civilian outfit usually involves a cutoff tank top, a black leather jacket with a hood, black jeans, boots, and a belt at the waist. His Collateral look includes everything you might expect from a '90s Anti-Hero - cybernetic looking armor, metallic pieces on the head (used to monitor his nuclear output), black and blue color scheme, a nuclear hazard symbol on the chest piece, and two pouches at the waist (containing medicine for people in case he accidentally irradiates them).
  • Personality: Ryan is by now much like a typical darker and edgier hero; temperamental, prone to run in and fight without much care, sex-hungry, brooding, crude and dangerous...but despite all this, he tries very, very hard to avoid actually killing people rampantly. While he's willing to do so if more people would die otherwise, it's not something he enjoys. He tries to keep a rather snarky sense of comedy about himself and others, to avoid fully drowning in his darker emotional moods. While he denies being a true hero, he still tries very hard to live up to the idea of being a hero. He's actually quite empathic when vulnerable people need his help or are under attack, despising bigotry to a violent extent. He prefers not having many connections by now, viewing lasting relationships as a definite risk to the other party.
  • Background:
    • Ryan Brady started off as a young man who had a sense of adventure; he roamed around his grandfather's grandiose property, and this led to the incident that empowered him; he wound up inside a testing area that bound a strange energy to him. This resulted in him gaining his nuclear powers, though he just thought they were energy related at the time. With the heroes becoming more public and fully showing up in 2014, Ryan joined a group called New Justice, composed of teenage heroes like him.
    • New Justice went on a number of adventures, fighting quite a wide variety of villains. The group grew closer, with Ryan in particular growing closer to Night Hawk, the team leader, and Starbright, who'd liked Ryan from almost day 1. It did not take long for Ryan and Starbright to make a relationship. Owing to a view of some heroes as celebrity-like, New Justice's young couple ended up a topic of conversation.
    • Ryan was never very comfortable with the spotlight on him, and threw himself into his work. He and Starbright became known best among New Justice, though, and this translated into the media gossiping and trying to get info from the two.
    • However this focus and the strain it put Ryan under combined with a new and dangerous foe, Dr. Twister, had the result of the tragedy that unfolded in the team's mission to Kansas to track down Dr. Twister and stop a scheme of his to ransom all the water in Kansas via his Oxygen Manipulation ability. Dr. Twister engaged the team in a high stakes battle near a city, and during the course of it, Twister seemed to deliver a deadly and serious blow to Starbright.
    • Ryan, emotionally tumultuous and poorly understanding his powers, fought harder, getting angrier and angrier as Twister taunted him...and then he exploded. The tremendous explosion killed or mutilated his team mates badly, and Dr. Twister seemed to be reduced to a streak of dust on the ground. Also reduced to dust was a huge portion of the surroundings, leaving an irradiated crater that still exists to this day.
    • Ryan took the blame for the incident, and Starbright's mother even launched a social media campaign trying to pin him as deliberately doing all of this (#Ryan Brady Killed Them). The older heroes conducted a trial on Ryan, and despite one of their own dissenting heavily, Ryan was convicted and banned from heroism for three years, and even when he could return to active duty, he was given the new code name "Collateral", and an extensive file about his "nature".
    • Over the five years from 2015 to 2020, Ryan toiled away, growing more self destructive and withdrawn. He accrued a steroid habit, drank a lot (and due to his powers, he can't get drunk ever), and due to the above his issues worsened. Despite all of this, he's still inclined to try and become a hero again just because he believes his calling is to fight and help people. "Not like I'm good at much else."
    • However he has recently gotten some good news; Noble Tech's CEO, Isaac Noble, has started working with Ryan to try and smooth over his reintegration into superhero society.
  • Etc / Misc:
    • Ryan's grandfather is an aged supervillain who has by now retired.
    • Ryan basically goes from mundane job to mundane job trying to work up money while trying to find a super team that will have him. None have thus far.

AKA Nixer
#9: Feb 13th 2020 at 9:34:52 AM

  • Identity:
    • Name: Aileana (of the Isle of Arran)
    • Secret Identity: Ouroboros
    • Status: Neutral
  • Abilities:
    • Powers:
      • Abnormal Physiology: Aileana possesses a boneless structure and a painless response to attack—regardless of how chopped up she is, no amount of physical trauma can garner much of a reaction barring perhaps an uncomfortable grimace in response to an especially powerful assault. She can contort, twist, and stretch her body in mimicry of a serpent's—most often her limbs or neck to amplify her naturally unsettling appearance—and can even slither on her belly along the ground without any external assistance despite the impossibility of the whole process. While able to hide superficial wounds by momentarily blocking any line of sight to them (in a way restoring her glamour) and also able to reconnect severed limbs using her snakes if she's quick enough, Aileana also has the ability to shed her own skin in order to rejuvenate herself from more severe injuries—a process only activating when she's on her last legs and renders her vulnerable to attack while in the process. Even so, afterward she may be disoriented just as much as she is refreshed—sometimes coming across as if in a dreamlike daze and oftentimes bursting into hysterical giggles for seemingly no reason until she's fully settled into her new skin. Aileana also has the ability to stand upright on any surface, no matter the angle.
      • Schrödinger's Serpents: Aileana possesses the ability to summon the snakes making up her very form out into the open; albeit only in places out of sight from anyone nearby. Her range in this is limited only to her own body, however—she wears baggy clothing (usually robes) for the express purpose of maximizing the amount of unseen space for her usage. In her upper limits she can summon what can only be described as a dense "carpet" of serpents—venomous and constrictors alike—and even when idle she is usually seen with smaller snakes flitting across her form or coiling around her limbs as they pop in and out of existence. Interestingly, Aileana's snakes can also do this to her—summoning her humanoid form from the depths of their gullet to allow for easy transportation. Plus the ability to keep tabs on anyone she seems fit to follow. Most of Aileana's snakes are mindless drones, but a select few have retained their intelligence—some of them even have absorbed her own from when she momentarily overrides their minds. Aileana can also end up involuntarily releasing her snakes whenever she's cut open, but whether that's a good thing or not for the one on the other end is another matter entirely.
      • Consumption: Aileana and her snakes all share a connected appetite, and as such it isn't unusual to seem them feasting on the odd rodent or even devouring a whole deer if the opportunity arises. The method of ingesting prey is as expected for her snakes, but Aileana's method herself also reflects her inhuman nature—dislocating her jaw to a sickening degree and gulping down her meal (with or without prior poisoning from her venom glands, depending on how much they've personally offended her). Since the prey goes directly to the endless mass making up her form, Aileana is never seen fattened from a meal—even if the snake that has done the deed seems a little plumper than usual. Consuming prey either directly or indirectly balances out her internal masses, increasing her perpetual snake production and energizing her for a short amount of time.
    • Weaknesses: Aileana's husk is fragile despite her lack of pain, and her emaciated state means she lacks any real physical strength to fight back st close range. While her masses of serpents are indeed many they are all packed together in a tangled and easy to destroy pile, and if every one of them manages to be destroyed then she will simply cease in her entirety (across all planes, it should be noted—her existence is a fickle thing that technically should not be a thing). She's in her most vulnerable state immediately after having shed her skin, as she's rendered drunken and hysterical during the process until she adjusts to her body correctly (and even then she cannot create another until a month afterwards). Aileana is also callous in regards to her own existence and appears resigned to whatever fate comes her way—if she assumes herself to be about to die, she'll most likely do nothing to stop it.
    • Skills: Aileana, surprisingly, is a skilled cook and exceptional planner—and in terms of practical skills that's pretty much all she has. Since her early death she has been unsurprisingly lacking in many areas, and the skills she does have are limited due to the fact that her form remains that of an emaciated corpse. Even her fighting style is clumsy and uncoordinated—she appears to run almost entirely on instinct rather than any genuine experience.
  • Equipment:
    • Sword of Daileass: A rather bland, though strangely reflective shortsword that Aileana keeps stowed away within her internal serpentine masses. It has the capability of being summoned and unsummoned while out of sight like her snakes (and herself), and its blade can be duplicated among said snakes so as to manifest out of their open mouths to be used as an overwhelming sea of sharp weapons whenever she summons a large number of them. Aileana is protective of the blade and only uses it when necessary—it remains stationed at the centre of her form for a reason.
  • Appearance: 6'3". Of a thin and long-limbed disposition—and by no means in an attractive way. Uncanny appearance; possesses a greyish skin with a smooth and scaly texture and with visible ribs beneath her clothes. Lacks any form of musculature to the point where it would be downright impossible for her to stand up if not for her nature. Possesses foldaway fangs with included venom glands, bright green serpentine eyes with a mildly hypnotic pattern, and a long forked tongue. Skin peels away as it begins to moult every few months or so—or if she's especially damaged. Covered in a variety of surgical scars and incision marks—these are constant and are never rejuvenated whenever she sheds her skin. Intriguingly, the extent of her true form is visible only by indirect means—both her reflection and shadow showcases the coiling masses of writhing snakes making up her so-called "body." Wears loose, flowing black robes, and walks barefoot. Has the overall likeness of a partially decayed corpse.
  • Personality: A soft spoken, deceptively serene, and distinctly menacing serpent with a silver tongue and a slight hint of sadism for good measure. Aileana likes to unsettle others and be the general centre of attention, rarely without a smarmy comment or a mindbending opinion to express regardless of the local social norms. Initially she may come across as someone more sociopathic and difficult to read, but given enough time she'll eventually start to open up—becoming more outwardly empathetic and sometimes displaying her more hurt and vulnerable side (albeit only with ones she particularly enjoys the company of). An intellectual and philosopher by nature, Aileana likes to argue for the sake of an interesting squabble more than anything, though she oftentimes finds herself offended anyway if her own personal opinions on the grand scheme of things are threatened (sometimes unintentionally on the part of the other in question). In truth, Aileana is deeply depressed and self-loathing; desiring satisfaction through her own validation and in desperate need of companionship to the point where she'll do anything to seek attention. Fearing her own extinguishment despite her claims to the contrary, Aileana is a heavily layered mass of hatred, mischievousness, despair, kindness, determination and weakness that even she herself can't fully figure out—but if her ultimate destiny is to be little more than a creepy snake monster then she truly has no reason to argue. Fate made her this way, of course—and it beats wasting away in a hospital bed. In theory, anyway.
  • Background:
    • Aileana was born on the Scottish Isle of Arran before moving inland as her parents pursued a career in fashion-designing. Despite this, she has kept her regional accent and hails from her birthplace anyway—even after she herself moved abroad to America in order to become a lawyer. Whatever plans she had were unfortunately cut short as she was suddenly caught up with by a genetically-passed wasting disease that had plagued her family for generations, and spent her 21st birthday bedridden in a hospital with little more than a celebratory bottle of alcohol to keep her company; the muscles in her limbs having slowly but surely decayed away into uselessness. Despite this—and her shortened life-expectancy making it unlikely she would reach her 25th birthday—Aileana seemed distinctly unperturbed, the trauma of all her hopes and dreams being so suddenly swept away from her grasp apparently having caused an existential crisis in the young woman (although she prefers to call it an 'epiphany'). Whether it was a coping mechanism or not, her fanaticism and insistence in the truthfulness of her developing philosophy about eternal return did next to nothing but disturb the doctors caring for her, but her conviction and newfound serenity was undoubtedly keeping her mental state stable at the very least ('sane' had gone out the window at this point). Still, her curiosity had kept her going strong, and at the very least she was as active as someone bedridden could possibly be (and incredibly chatty in bursts as well). Yet it seemed at the end of the day, her regained mental fortitude meant nothing when her body was steadily shutting down. Aileana's heart finally stopped beating three days after her 22nd birthday. For all intents and purposes, all should've stopped for her then and there.
    • Except she continued on. Awakening in a clearing near Loch Lomond—several thousand miles away from the hospital in which she had perished—Aileana quickly discovered that she wasn't quite resurrected in full; her body had the likeness of a slightly aged corpse and she was seemingly haunted by the flickering visages of snakes beneath her very skin. Disoriented and frightened, she slowly began to explore the extent of her new form and the odd snake aspects that came with it, eventually realising that her current state of existence was an effective parody of her own developing philosophies—which themselves had been based on the image of an ouroboros. Almost finding the whole situation humorous, Aileana eventually left this clearing with a newfound sense of purpose and curiosity, and began to travel the world in order to make up for the life she had lost—even if most of the people she encountered found her unnatural and repulsive by her mere presence. Eventually making it back to America, Aileana has now settled herself into Easton due to its attraction of the paranormal, with the goal of discovering other anomalous creatures like herself—for as much as she likes her own voice, there are still questions to be answered and points of view to discover that she herself would never even think of.

  • Identity: Ferro Cinnabar (Neutral)
  • Abilities:
    • Powers:
      • Corrupted Elixir of Immortality: Due to making and ingesting an elixir of immortality (though it was poisoned by a jealous apprentice), Ferro cannot be killed. He returns in a new body whenever his old one gets destroyed, and has a prodigious healing factor. Wounds still hurt, however.
    • Weaknesses:
      • Sunlight: Because the elixir he drank was tainted, Ferro cannot let sunlight touch him lest he starts to go up in flames. It's so severe that he can't even stay out under moonlight for long, as he'll start getting a serious case of "moonburn" because of the reflected sunlight.
      • Blindness: The elixir also blinded him, so Ferro has to make do with his other senses to survive. Though he has mostly accepted his blindness as a fact of life, it still interferes with his alchemical skills, something which causes him exasperation from time to time.
    • Skills:
      • Alchemical Mastery: Ferro was skilled enough to have made an Elixir of Immortality when he still had his sight, and still retains a great deal of mastery over alchemical concepts. He can make decoctions to temporarily (or permanently, if he is so inclined) increase someone's physical/mental attributes, give them certain powers related to change and the elements, transmute elements, and for use as incendiary/acidic projectile weapons.
    • Equipment:
      • Sewer Base: Ferro lives in an abandoned part of the sewers under Easton that were mistakenly built and never connected to the main system. He also uses this system to get around the city. With some time, he's managed to scavenge enough materials to make it semi-livable.
  • Appearance: Ferro looks like a short, almost pitifully skinny man in his late forties with long dark hair (that he ties back) and milky white eyes (that he keeps hidden under bandages). He wears Victorian-style suits under longcoats and such, though they have obviously seen some wear and tear, with many, many patches. His air is that of someone great brought low.
  • Personality: Ferro is mostly docile and shy, and will often run away at the first sign of trouble. He will only return to help if someone he has befriended is the one caught in hot water. However, sometimes lambs roar louder than lions, and the same goes for Ferro. If you push him too far, he will bring the full force of his genius to bear to avenge his pride.
  • Background:
    • Ferro used to be a great alchemist, having started practicing in the 16th century when he was born. He took on various apprentices and instructed them in the intricacies of the Great Work, which, when completed, would be able to turn other elements into gold and grant immortality.
    • He had already shed his old name in favor of a pseudonym to publish his work under, which is the same name he still bears today. When he finally managed to uncover the secrets of the Great Work, he was poisoned by his favorite apprentice, who was jealous of his prowess and who wanted him to teach him darker arts (which Ferro refused, fearing for him). To this day, he doesn't know that he was betrayed and thinks that he failed somehow.
    • Ferro traveled to the Americas and settled there. He dodged a few witch hunts and managed to survive to the modern day. After hearing whisperings on the streets that another powerful alchemist had moved to Easton, he is hopeful that he'll get to meet his apprentice again.

Six years after he had ran away from the orphanage he found an horrible sight on an alleyway, a huge wolf monster showing down on some poor man, the boy ran away in terror but wasn't able to get very far and the wolf bite down his leg when he was in the middle of crossing a street and when the kid fell down he got lucky and a car arrived and hit the werewolf killing him, Charlie crawled away begging for help with his mauled leg but nobody came and so he just passed away from the pain. When he woke up he was surprise to discover he had not only survived but his leg was healed, not only that his body felt better than ever, he was strong enough to jump to the top of a bulding, fast enough to outspeed a car and strong enough to shrug off anyone's punches, in his excitement he transfrom accidently in his wolf form for the first time but turned back fast after freaking out at the sudden bloodlust that form gave him. Now he uses this powers so he can just take whatever he want whenever he wants and if you don't like it then that's your problem.

  • Identity: Public
  • Name: Dr. Zero
  • Secret Identity: Dr. Alfred Miller
  • Status: Villain
  • Abilities:
    • Genius Level intellect - Zero is a prodigy in multiple fields, notably robotics.
  • Powers: None
  • Weaknesses:
    • Average Human - While he's not out of shape, he's not super fit or even at peak human status. He's rather squishy and has to rely on his war machines to do all his work for him.
    • Unstable Personality - Zero insists there is nothing wrong with him, but he's easy to anger, prone to fits of ranting, is easily distracted and doesn't like to think ahead, figuring he'll cross that bridge when he gets there. This means it is easy to undo his plans as he rarely accounts for issues with it.
  • Skills:
    • Ace Pilot - If he's built it, he can fly it. Zero often enters into his own war machines, hoverpods and so on, he's not adverse to fighting on the front lines.
  • Equipment:
    • Tech Fortresses - Secret bunkers that hold resources necessary to building his robot armies.
    • Hovercar - A pod like device that serves as his main form of transportation, it works in a variety of environments and can be sealed up to work in environments without a proper air supply. Also acts as the control center for several of his larger war machines.
  • Appearance: 5'9", slim build, looks about mid 30s, green eyes, pale skin, slicked brownish-black hair that is often wild (presumed gelled), a thick mustache on his face. Green goggles, a stylized black overcoat, a dark green flight/combat suit he wears for piloting his devices, thick boots, a pair of black tech gloves.
  • Personality: Zero is a narcissist through and through, believing that he's destined for great things (and probably would have been had he used his talents for good), he concocts schemes to take over the world as a result. He's easy to anger and prone to ranting if sufficiently angered enough, easily distracted and prone to just winging every idea of his, despite this he tries to keep a handle on himself and weirdly seems to have a "on-the-clock off-the-clock" personality where he's perfectly approachable when not on a big scheme and can be downright friendly and jovial to even his most hated enemies. When on the clock he can even be seen trying to minimize causalities and tends to avoid more power or force than necessary, reasoning that if he destroys the world there's nothing left to rule and build his empire on.
  • Background: Little is actually known of Alfred's childhood, he says even less, and given his unstable nature many presume something went wrong. He graduated from MIT with honors and worked in numerous industries over the years before moving to Easton to prove his worth in robotics. Upon the Empowering event of 2014, Alfred saw a opportunity and took it, adopting the name of Dr. Zero and setting out constructing robotic armies to take over, for the past 6 years he's been working hard on numerous plans to take over the world, every single one has failed. Despite this he keeps at it as hard as he can, aiming to one day be recognized as one of the greatest minds to have ever lived, despite the fact that his technology could be used to make things a lot better for everyone.
