Does Not Illustrate: Good Costume Switch

it's not even showing the evil costume he switched from. We could just add an image of regular vader to the left but that would still be JAFAAC without an indication of goodness.

IIRC Darth Vader's on the short list of characters that are so culturally well-known that any visual reference to them will be instantly clear, so I'm inclined to say leave it be, or go with something else that makes the costume change more visually interesting.

Keep Until Better Image Suggested; Darth Vader is one of the few characters where we can rely on recognizably.

I mean, granted, Darth Wiki is named in reference to Darth Vader's sheer popularity in the west, where we all live, but I imagine that on procedural grounds, it might be worth putting a link in the caption to either SelfDemonstrating.Darth Vader or Characters.Star Wars Darth Vader And Servants.

I could've sworn there was an Administrivia page or mod statement that said we can rely on recognizability for very well-known characters, like the original Star Wars trilogy and The Bible. Though I wouldn't mind that caption suggestion or pairing it with a normal Vader image.

My bigger concern is that there's nothing that tells me this is a "good" version of Darth Vader. Besides that it's pure white (which we've been recently discussing lately as a color villains do like to wear), it doesn't scream "good". Is it just me?

I mean badguys wear all white just as often as all black. I'm not sure this is the best example of a Good Costume Switch. The suit still looks villainous for the most part.

My problem with this picture is that even if Vader is one of the most recognizable villains in fiction, simply turning his costume white doesn't really show that he's somehow become "good", especially since he still looks menacing and, well, evil. The current image depicts Palette Swap, and nothing more.

The main character of Final Fantasy IV goes from dark full-body armor to light and more exposing armor. Maybe something with him?◊

Can this be pulled off without spoilers?

Pull current. Megamind still feels uncomfortably JAFAAC-pushing for my looking. I'd rather get a picture showing a character doing different acts with different costumes.

Pull. I would say Darth Vader's recognizability as a villain hurts the current because it doesn't show him doing anything good, hence it just looks like Light Is Not Good or something.

The costume switch aspect is not obvious in that one.

And the costume switch happened long after Peridot's Heel–Face Turn, so it's not very illustrative in context.

Yeah, Peridot's not the best example. I think the Cecil suggestion from Final Fantasy IV is the best so far: it helps that it happens at the beginning of the game, so it's not a spoiler.

I like the idea of using Cecil, but given that his face is completely concealed as the dark knight, will it be obvious that they're actually be the same person?

The problem with Cecil is that he was never actually evil.
