Poor Image: Sequel Escalation

In the previous thread, I mentioned that the suggested Rambo kills pic may need a removal if Rambo: Last Blood has fewer kills than Rambo IV. I was correct, as according to comments here, there are 39-49 on-screen kills in comparison to IV's 254. I've decided to post a differently-themed suggestion: how many characters are playable in the SSB series. Now, this pic may become outdated as well because DLC is being released for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (it's accurate as of 2020's Fighters Pass), but I can update it after all DLC is out, with a possible note in the caption. I also understand that if a hypothetical game 6 makes its roster smaller I'll have to think of a different pic idea, but as Willbyr said in the previous thread, "We can cross that bridge when it’s built."

I believe Word of God has said that Ultimate will probably be the last game with all characters from previous games, so we'll probably run into the same problem. I say keep the current, as it still works.

I mean, why would the new works invalidate the images? They still illustrate the concept perfectly well.

Agreed. The current is still an illustrative example.

We could add a caption to the current to mention Last Blood's decreased kill count with a link to Averted Trope. If we use Smash bros., a caption could point out that it doesn't even include all DLC

rjd1922 mentioned that Ultimate will probably be the last game featuring all characters from previous games, which could make us run into the same problem. That doesn't stop the possible Game 6 from having more characters anyway, they can always add more than was removed. Brawl removed a few Melee characters and was still bigger, Game 6 could remove a few Ultimate characters and still be bigger. Now, assuming Game 6 actually has fewer fighters, I could try finding yet another idea. If Game 6 was somehow a reboot with 30 fighters or so (doubtful, but I've heard about the idea) we could mark current pic as "Pre-Reboot". But that's like 3-6 years (or maybe even more) from now, unlike the previous thread which went with the Rambo pic even though Last Blood released less than a year later.

No matter what happens, Wiki Wanderer's caption ideas work for both possibilities. It could make the Rambo image work, but I still vouch for my SSB suggestion.

The image is still illustrative. It hasn't magically become a bad image just because of the future work in the franchise. If an image is illustrative, it's illustrative, and nobody has given me any reason to think the current image should be pulled.

To be honest, the why here is kind of tough. I guess my why was simply because it is outdated. And I guess I was kind of bitter that people couldn't simply wait for a movie's release even though they knew it was in production before discussing a pic. I admit that my reason may be flimsy. Maybe the Rambo pic with the caption "Rambo: Last Blood only had about 40 kills, but they were more brutal than ever." or something similar would be the best.

There's nothing wrong with the current.

Keep the current but mention in the caption somehow that Last Blood had less kills.

Eh, I don't even think that's necessary. It's kinda irrelevant.

Also, if anything the numerical Rambo sequel titles are clearer that they're sequels compared to the word salad Smash titles.

What comes up must come down, if we have to be honest. And the same can be said for Sequel Escalation.

After all, what could possibly top Endgame in future Avengers movies? Doesn't change the fact that each Avenger movie gradually amps up the crossover aspect movie by movie. So why would Rambo be any different?

Rambo is not only clearer about it being sequels, but it's also funnier since it starts with 1 and then rockets all the way to the hundreds.
