Ambiguous Name: Fun In The Funeral

The "Fun" in "Funeral" and Fun In The Funeral have near-identical names. The first is when, by accident, hilarious and wacky things happen at someone's funeral, the second is when a funeral is intentionally upbeat. Fun In The Funeral only has 12 wicks, whereas The "Fun" in "Funeral" has 467. I suggest that we rename Fun In The Funeral to something else, 12 wicks are easy to fix.

Sorry for the wait, ~Snicka

Opening as I do see how the two can be confused.

Yeah, this is a good time for a rename; it may also be worth skimming through The "Fun" in "Funeral" to see if any of them belong on Fun In The Funeral; it might be underused if people confused it for a redirect title or something.

Wow. Those names are way too close. Too easy to confuse just by looking at them. I also advocate a name change to one of them.

I think The "Fun" in "Funeral" should keep its name while Fun In The Funeral should be renamed to something like Happy Funeral which is kinda bland but describes the trope a lot better without confusion

If we make Fun In The Funeral into a redirect, we may not need to move those wicks to The "Fun" in "Funeral". That is, if there are wicks meant for the latter on the former.

[tup]To rename Fun In The Funeral.

Irish Wake is another term used for a happy funeral, as mentioned in the description. Not sure if this is too obscure but just thought I would toss it out there.

I'm glad you agree with renaming Fun In The Funeral. Happy Funeral is not a bad suggestion, but I like Cheerful Funeral even more. Irish Wake is a little too obscure but maybe the chorus of the Irish song "Finnegan's Wake" is a good replacement for the current (very long) quote.

Whack fol the da, now, dance to your partner
Welt the floor your trotters shake
Wasn't it the truth I tell you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake

If we still want the pun, could we strip it down to Fun Funeral?

I like Cheerful Funeral or Irish Wake as names. I'll suggest Wake The Dead as a potential redirect at least, since part of the tradition behind having a raucous celebration (instead of a quiet, respectful meeting) was to "awaken" the person assumed to be dead.

It may not be particularly witty, but I'm in favor of Cheerful Funeral due to it being so concise. Pleasant Funeral may also be similarly concise.

If others prefer alliteration, maybe Friendly Funeral or Fair Tempered Funeral?

What about Funerary Celebration Of Life? I could also go with just Celebration Of Life but apparently that's generally held after a funeral.

I like Funerary Celebration Of Life. Might be pushback on it's lack of brevity, but not from me.

I prefer Cheerful Funeral and Celebratory Funeral. While the name Fun Funeral is amusing, it has the same problem as Fun In The Funeral in that it looks like an alternate name for The "Fun" in "Funeral".

Despite that we're all in favor of a name change, we do need to have a "no change" option just for the sake of it.

It seems there's massive consensus for Cheerful Funeral. Shall the Crowner be closed and the trope renamed?

[up]I hollered your post to see if the crowner's safe to call, since the low amount of wicks means this thread wouldn't take long to get out of the backlog.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
