Per Ask The Tropers, this thread will be used to reduce the number of old, poorly written drafts on the Trope Launch Pad. We don't want to discuss on the drafts themselves because that will bump them and mix them with active proposals.
Sandbox for the project: Trope Launch Pad Discard Project
Sandbox for discarded drafts but viable ideas: Trope Idea Salvage Yard
The first sandbox page above contains drafts proposed in the thread that are still pending and drafts that we've decided to leave alone, either with no action or a bump.
The second sandbox page is for awful drafts but viable ideas. According to moderators, badly written but interesting/tropeworthy drafts should remain on the TLP. Rather than allow low-effort drafts to clog TLP, though, the salvage yard was opened to keep just the ideas behind them, in one place.
On this thread, we will mention which drafts we think are unworkable, add enough bombs, and discard (nuke) them. Discarding requires at least 5 bombs. Among the features of "unworkable" drafts:
- There have been no edits for a very long time, or at all
- The draft is low-effort, containing atrocious spelling and grammar and/or little to no examples, e.g. NEVER saw THAT coming (!), Nut-Chuks
- The draft was seemingly created so the sponsor could complain
- The topic is People Sit on Chairs, Too Rare to Trope, a search query created by mistake, etc. and therefore not tropeworthy
- The topic is already sufficiently covered by one or more tropes or is a duplicate of a better-written TLP draft
- The draft is problematic in other ways, such being closely tied to a page that has been historically problematic, e.g. Fetish Fuel, Complete Monster
- There's no discussion currently occurring in the comments to improve the proposal
If we decide to discard a draft after discussion via this thread, whoever does so must provide the discard reason in the comment section of the draft, for transparency's sake. Those looking at the discards section won't think it was nuked for no reason.
Also, check out the sister project, Trope Adoption Drive, where good drafts put Up for Grabs or abandoned can be grabbed, given a bit more improvement, and launched.

Only... 508 pages to go.
Hold my beer.
Oddly Handicapped Heroes — this is covered by more specific tropes like Insurmountable Waist-Height Fence and Super Drowning Skills.
Kill the Big Bad — Seems... chairs-ish? At any rate, no effort put in.
Actually A Good Plan — Probably covered by Dumbass Has a Point.
Backstabbed Comeback — Et Tu, Brute? can comfortably field any of these.
Assimilated Subversion — Covered by other tropes. The OP gave up on it.

Nuked Pitchfork Works and Slogan Spouting Spirit Squad.
Should I mention if and when and why I bomb or hat a draft here? I bombed everything but Doesn't Understand Sex and Back To Basics.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand! You don't really have to. It's more cheering on the effort than anything.
If you want.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI dunno. Miss_Desperado is doing it and I know that WarJay77 supports the idea of hat/bomb reasons (as do I), so I was just checking.
I only intend to note when I find, launch, or nuke a draft.
Other semi-related notes:
- Pugnacious Pugs is a newer draft that was nuked even though WarJay and I wanted the OP to respond to the comments.
- Some drafts I helped throw out before this thread started:
Eh, I support leaving reasons on the TLP itself with an active draft going on. These problem drafts don't really need an explanation, however we've been leaving posts explaining why we nuked them in case people get curious.
Pugnacious Pugs was discarded? Didn't even see that.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness^ - IIRC, standard procedure is to ATT for an un-nuking, if you want it?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576I don't want it, just surprised me.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI'm documenting the bombing and nuking reasons for accountability. If someone accuses us of going overboard, having documentation already in place will either (more likely) disprove it, or (less likely) help us realize if the hypothetical Angry Mob has a point.
Bombed for Yes, We DO Have This One
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.Yes, I try to comment on all drafts I nuke, though they tend to be half-assed if the draft wasn't good to begin with (one or two sentences, no further edits, no activity for 5+ years, that sort of thing).

Decided to dig up one more batch of drafts for the night:
- Why Did You Buy Me That is a stock-phrase title with one bomb and seems to already be covered. No edits since 2012.
- Tantric Nemesis Removal is covered by Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?, and the OP admitted it themselves.
- Contents May Have Shifted is an alignment trope, which I don't think are allowed anymore.
Achilles Foot — Would be confusion with Achilles' Heel. Is probably covered by Agony of the Feet
Creature Eater — Food Chain of Evil has this one.
Launch Window Game Drought — Complaining. Chairs-ish.
Classic Beats Current — Covered by They Don't Make Them Like They Used To and Older Is Better
The Innocent and Vile — Might be a valid idea, but no examples and they never bothered fleshing it out.
Edited by DracMonster on Mar 7th 2019 at 4:13:55 AM
Appeal to Poverty — No effort, could be mentioned in Logical Fallacies if it's even a thing.
Overcompensation — Based on a Troper tale. Was never fleshed out.
Going Hudson — Freak Out with a non-indicative title.
Relative racing — Chairs. It's what's going to happen if they're moving the same speed.
President God — Typecasting of The Omnipotent.

- Brother's Niece: Workable, maybe. I don't think we have this one.
- Subtitle Takeover: We Have This... I Swear...
Information Needs To Be Understood: Redundant?Freight Train Bass: Weblinks as examples, comments express concern over Too Rare to Trope.

Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!I could see Brother's Niece working, but as the comments show, there'd have to be some kind of rule so people don't just list the relation without the simplification.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยขSubtitle Takeover is more-or-less Short Title: Long, Elaborate Subtitle.
Bombed all except Brother's Niece
Edited by DracMonster on Mar 7th 2019 at 9:28:33 AM
I'm happy to bomb anything that is a couple of sentences long and has no examples and no activity from the sponsor. If it reads like "so I was thinking of a trope I've seen and it's about X. Do We Have This One Needs More Examples plz give examples", it's an instant bomb from me.
- Bombed Why Did You Buy Me That for being covered by Gift-Giving Gaffe and My New Gift Is Lame
- Discarded Tantric Nemesis Removal
- Bombed Contents May Have Shifted for I'm-pretty-sure being covered by other tropes about characters changing and for being a complaint magnet
- Bombed Achilles Foot because after reorganization of Agony of the Feet into a trope about foot injuries, it's definitely a duplicate
- Bombed Creature Eater because Yes, We DO Have This One, it's Food Chain of Evil
- Bombed Launch Window Game Drought because it invites nothing but complaints
- Bombed Classic Beats Current for being covered already by other tropes
- Bombed The Innocent and Vile since the sponsor hasn't made any edits since 2011. I see Crossover-Enthusiast has edited today; you wanna give the draft a shot?
- Bombed Appeal To Poverty for low-effort-ness. It's indeed a fallacy and opposite of appeal to wealth, but no edits were made after 2011 so it won't be missed
- Bombed Overcompensation for being low-effort and based on troper tale, no edits after 2011
- Bombed Relative Racing: PSOC and low-effort
- Bombed President God for what DracMonster said
- Brother's Niece has potential as a family trope and maybe a subtrope of Complexity Addiction, but the sponsor has not made a single edit to the draft. Leaving this alone
- Hum. We really don't have Subtitle Takeover? This is distinct from Short Title: Long, Elaborate Subtitle for not teetering on chairs territory. I'll leave this one alone
- Bombed Information Needs To Be Understood for being redundant to Administrivia items such as Conversation on the Main Page and lengthy enough that I didn't bother to read it. This may have been useful in 2011, but I don't see any purpose now
- Bombed Freight Train Bass because it's full of links and relies heavily on being "awesome". Also, sponsor apparently made the draft and left without doing anything else on the site, so this won't be missed
- Why Did You Buy Me That: Bombed and nuked for stock phrase and Yes, We DO Have This One
- Creature Eater: Bombed for Yes, We DO Have This One
- Classic Beats Current: Bombed and nuked for Yes, We DO Have This One
- Relative racing: Bombed and nuked for stubbiness and People Sit on Chairs
Before this thread was started, I found the draft Death by Debris. There's probably a potential trope worth starting there, but when I found this draft, it had one hat with neither description nor examples, so I had no choice but to bomb it. Now that it has five bombs, should we nuke it, or write up a description and adopt it? I'd prefer the latter, especially if I could think up a description (darn writer's block).

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.Nuked Creature Eater and Launch Window Game Drought.
I vote nuke and restart. With so many bombs it won't get anywhere.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAgreed. Chuck it and start from scratch.
RE: Doesn't Understand Sex: That was Up For Grabs and another troper and I both took it up. We couldn't agree on whether it was supposed to be just adults who don't understand sex or kids or all ages, and then someone complained about the title without ever really explaining what was wrong with it. Then other people added incorrect information to the description (like the first line) that makes it seem like it's Asexuality. The trope is not "understands sex but doesn't understand sexual attraction"; the trope is "does not understand sex at all."
A lot of people overtook the draft and made the description nonsensical and redundant with other tropes.
Honestly, the draft should just be bombed so it can be redone from scratch.

Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyBombed at request.
Inconspicuous Infamous Person: I was at "I swear we have this" for a while, but we do: Recognition Failure.
How come it's "launching soon" then?
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!Bombed it, but 16 hats will be hard to overcome.
"opposite of Vehicle Vanish" joins the discard pile.
Y'all, we've already cleaned out over a TLP-page worth of drafts. Let's keep it up.
