Father was dying...

It was all they could think of. Father, tough as nails father, the legendary Odysseus Drakon, was dying.

It wasn't even in battle. Illness, of all things, robbing him of his strength.

What would they do now? Would the troupe survive? Who would lead them?

These thoughts and more were at the forefront of their minds as Father called them to his tent for the last time, the air filled with the roar of dragons...

Hello! This is another new RP set in the fantastic world that my friends made. As always, general setting info can be found here.

Word of advice: setting is very Dungeons and Dragons based.

The premise of this one is simple. Unlike the other games, set in the continent of the Great West, this one is set far away in the continent of the Great South. The players are part of a group of, let's say jack of all trades (read: mercenaries) trying their best to earn some cash and getting into big trouble now and again. The twist being that as a result of where this is set, everyone is riding on wyverns: non-sentient draconic offshoots. Basically, if you've played Fire Emblem, you have an idea.

Tone and plot-wise, this RP is inspired by the likes of the MCU Guardians of the Galaxy movies (bunch of misfits try to get cash, not screw up, and occassionally save the world) so yes, we can have bits of comedy despite the grim blurb up there. There's a little bit of Critical Role's second campaign in here too, if you've watched that.

Before we get to the plot set up and stuff, here's some lore bits pertaining to the RP itself.

The Great South

The continent long ago decided as the southern landmass of the world, the Great South has the reputation of being quite literally the most dangerous place to live in the world, ever.

Three great powers rule over most of the continent, struggling with each other for dominance. Though there hasn't been open war in quite a while, tensions remain.

The Eternal Empire of Dys - a proud and powerful human-centric nation whose greatest ambition is to unite the world under its vision of perfect order. Created by the god of tyranny, Asphodel the Betrayer himself and even in his imprisonment, Dys survives, waiting, growing stronger...

The Dragonhold Triumvirate - Long ago, the dragons of malevolent leanings decided that as powerful as they are, they needed to unite themselves. They chose the Great South and conquered a massive portion of it to serve as their homeland to store their hoards and lay their eggs. The Dragonholds are generally considered suicidal to go to unless you're a dragon.

The Orc Wilds - The stomping ground of the ten major orc tribes of the world, the orc wilds are, as the name suggests, harsh and untamed. A land of mountains and deserts and plains, of nomadic war bands and constant tribal warfare.

Aside from these three large territories, there are multiple smaller nations and fiefdoms, six of which came to be known as the Unconquered Realms so named because they have managed to stay independent of the three great powers for so long.

These Unconquered Realms is where our story begins...

The Kingdom of Raein

The smallest and youngest of the Unconquered Realms, Raein is a tiny (twice the size of real life Switzerland) country between Dys and the northernmost Dragonhold.

Once a province of the Empire, Raein became independent in the mid 4000's, around the same time as The Reunited Kingdom of Allurand was forged.

The governor of the province at that time, Viscount Alexander Til Raein, balked at the harsh policies the Empire wanted him to enforce.

The Viscount mounted a rebellion, but it seemed they would be crushed by the Empire's might.

And then, a miracle. No one knows the circumstance, but Alexander Til Raein made a blood pact with Ophidian, a Black Dragon god, and gained his patronage.

Ever after, soldiers of Raein could make almost supernatural bonds with lesser draconic creatures like wyverns and basilisks.

The Age of the Dragonlords had begun.

In the year 8623, General Callisto Sahn enacted a coup d'etat against the current royal family, who had become deeply unpopular for allegedly living in extreme excess and hedonism while Raein suffered from poverty.

General Sahn succeeded in her aim, and for the last thirty years has ruled Raein with an iron fist. Rumors spread that the general has been negotiating Raein's reintegration with the Empire of Dys...

Knights for Hire

Captain Odysseus Drakon was a Dragonlord soldier who worked directly under Callisto Sahn. When the coup ended, Drakon immediately left the military, taking his wyvern with him.

Perhaps it was a sign of respect for an old friend that Sahn let Drakon train his children and others who came to him in the art of the Dragonlord. Perhaps it was the same reason why Drakon and his crew were allowed to operate freely as mercenaries (or, knights for hire, as Odysseus insisted on calling them) even as Sahn grew more and more dictatorial....

The year is now 8653, and the Dragonwings, Drakon's Knights-for-hire, find themselves without their leader. Odysseus Drakon passed away a year ago, and everyone is lost on what to do next...

Alright, so there's the lore. You are a member of the Dragonwings, left to find your way in the world.

An interesting bit here is that Odysseus Drakon, famed cassanova, has quite a bit of children and almost all of them eventually became members of the Dragonwings.

You may, if you so desire, sign up as one of Drakon's children, changing the plot slightly with each one.

Here's a few rules if you want to:

  • Odysseus was 63 when he died, so plan your age so that it would be plausible to be his kid.
  • Odysseus had a lot of affairs, soI'm not barring you from being a different race than his own (full blooded human).
  • If your child is less than 20 years old, then they're human - the child of the only woman he married, Penelope Dyne.

With that said, CHARACTER SHEET.

I want in. But you probably know that, considering how I've been the past few days. >///>

Sheet for Reverence Drakos will be posted here when I'm done.

EDIT: You know, if I knew it'd take me two full days to finish this gosh-darn sheet, I would have just posted when the sheet was done and not done a dumb interested post. -__-

Character

  • Name: Sir Reverence Drakon, Paladin of the Order of Nieve Born Daimon Drakon
  • Age: 26
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Tiefling
  • Origin: Raein?
  • Appearance: About average in height, but definitely fit, with messy reddish-brown hair and golden eyes. His skin is fair, but with reddish tones due to his tiefling heritage, and his horns poke out behind his bangs and angle towards the back. Rev still somewhat retains his pretty boy looks, but his years of serving the Order of Nieve have not been kind to him, and he still has a myriad of scars on his body, including one running over his left eye, and several where his left arm was severed. He's still somewhat self-conscious of these wounds, and in order to make them less obvious, he often has his bangs obscure his left eye as well as wearing cloaks with whatever outfit he decides to wear.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Skills: Reverence learned to ride a wyvern since he was a child, and that knowledge has not waned during his training with the Order of Nieve. He's also had training with a large selection of weapons including longswords, lances, and shields (although his skills with the last category haven't seen much use since he got sent home, for obvious reasons). He's surprisingly pretty good with people for a fighter, with an eye for figuring out people's intentions, and a knack at persuading and/or intimidating them to get results.
    • Divine Magic: While Reverence is no longer an active member of the Sapphire Order, he has not strayed from the oath he took, and as such can still draw upon feats of divine magic. Particularly notable uses tend to be to heal people up, detecting use of divine or abyssal magic, and warding things and/or people against the latter sort of magic.
  • Equipment: A longsword, a lance for when he's riding on Winter, plate armor (for both himself and Winter), and a sapphire dragon pendant that he uses as a spellcasting focus.
  • Personality: Personality-wise, Rev is the epitome of a paladin — compassionate and courageous to a fault, and always eager to help, even at great risk to himself. That being said, he's not without flaws, and there have been times that his stubbornness and borderline recklessness caused problems for him and others. He also has a bad habit of bottling up whatever problems he's having until they get so bad that he can't deal with them. In addition, Rev is dead-set on maintaining a good appearance, not out of any vanity, but out of the understanding that as a tiefling he tends to come off as intimidating or untrustworthy otherwise.
  • Bio:
    • Reverence was born Daimon Drakon, the son of Odysseus and a succubus, and was left under his father's care as a baby. He grew up training to fight and ride dragons, but always desired to do more, to make the world a better place. Sometime after he turned 15, he would get the chance to do just that, thanks to Lady Natalia, a member of a paladin order that worshipped the Mother of Dragons, who wished to take the young Tiefling under her wing, so to speak. Daimon enthusiastically took her offer to train as a paladin, and would take on the name of Reverence when he left for the Order's headquarters.
    • He for the most part did well with training, and would be knighted and sent on various missions to help better the world.  During Rev's last, mission, though, the town he was bringing aid to was subjected to a monster attack courtesy of the Empire of Dis. Reverence and his fellow knights were able to keep destruction in the town to a minimum and slay the beasts, but not before getting near death's door due to, among other injuries, one of the beasts ripping his arm off. Being sent back home was supposed to give him time to recover, but when he learned his father was ill, he went to dragon-riding as soon as he was physically well enough to, hoping to keep business afloat until his father would be well enough to resume work.
    • That, unfortunately, wasn't the case. Odysseus passed away, throwing the state of the Dragonwings into doubt. To that end, Reverence's return to the Sapphire Order has since been delayed — as much as he'd wish to prove his use and resume his duties as a paladin, he couldn't leave his family's business in the unsteady state it is now. Still, Rev wishes to do something more than shipping cargo — especially with the rumors of Sahn's plans to reintegrate Raein with Dis spreading still...

Mount

  • Name: Winter
  • Color: Blue, much like Rev's patron goddess
  • Appearance: Winter is an ice-blue, bordering on white, with gold eyes. She's definitely on the strong side — not a surprise, considering she's got to carry Rev, plate armor and all.
  • Temperament: Winter is just as helpful as her master, but where Rev is friendly and good with people, she's serious and takes a while to warm up to people
  • How did you find/Bond with your mount: Winter was a hatchling gifted to Reverence by Odysseus before he left home for the Order of Nieve. She grew and trained with him, and the two have been inseparable since.

  • Name: Kore Arai
  • Age: 24
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Beastkin- Kitsune
  • Origin: Raein, however she's been in Genzai for a while
  • Appearance: A short and shapely girl, both her hair and fur on her ears and tails is ink-black. She has grey eyes and has to wear glasses. Due to her time in Genzai she tends to wear mage robes in the style of that country when not working but when she’s riding with the company she has her own set of riding leathers, including a helmet with goggles built in that function as glasses for her, as well as cut-out for her ears and tail
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Dragon riding: Like all of Odysseus' children she knows how to ride her wyvern. However she is nowhere near as good as the rest owing to her having to treat it basically as a hobby.
    • Magic: Kore has spent the last twelve years training in the magic traditions of her mother's people. However where Kore's mother was skilled at Enchantment and Illusion, Kore is a Battlemage, specializing in Evocation and Abjuration
    • Engineer/inventor: While not especially skilled at the actual crafting of the objects, Kore's whole riding ensemble has been either wholly designed or at least heavily modified based on specifications she's drawn up.
  • Equipment:
    • Riding leathers: As noted before the helmet to her riding suit has special goggles that serve as her glasses. These can be detached but Kore generally doesn’t, preferring to just pull out her glasses if she needs to take off her helmet. Additionally there are a great deal more pouches on her riding leathers to accommodate spell ingredients and scrolls.
    • Casting gauntlet: a metal gauntlet born of her own designs to make mid-air casting easier. It has a storage space from her wrist to her elbow where Kore can slot in vials of spell components as well as highly articulate finger joints with clawed tips for melee combat if things get desperate. She also had the smith who made it for her color the gauntlet green to match her wyvern.
    • Hand axe: Every mage needs a backup weapon, hers is based on a design local to Genzai
  • Personality:A sweet but shy woman who really wants her half-siblings' approval but is extremely nervous around them because this is her first time seeing any of them in more than 10 years. Of course threaten anyone she cares about and you’re going through a wall. Additionally she does have a bit of a rebellious streak as any order that she finds too binding or controlling will quickly get her to do the opposite in most cases. Also when she’s decided on a course her personality flips, becoming stubborn, and focusing to the degree of tunnel vision. She's mostly willing to go along whenever Meli has a prank or joke in mind.
  • Bio: Kore is the elder twin of Odysseus by a visiting Kitsune mage from Genzai. While their mother was on long term assignment in Raein, Kore and Meli were free to train with the family’s wyverns and associate with their half siblings. Unfortunately when their mother had to return to Genzai she took Kore and Meli with her, citing the need to teach the girls the other half of their family heritage. The twins left Raein at the tender age of twelve. As the years went by Kore trained in her mother’s mystical traditions. However her lack of knowledge and odd habits left her isolated from most of her peers in Genzai, the closest thing she had to a friend being Meli. When the twins and their mother heard word of Odysseus' illness and death recently and now that she was trained enough to defend herself and continue her training by herself, and her sister having turned into a terrifying martial force, Kore and Meli immediately booked travel to Raein to be with their family and to help cover for their father's loss while the Dragonwings recover. Kore also wants to try out the family business and to see if it's something she actually enjoys rather than just having fond memories of.

Mount

  • Name: Jade
  • Color: Green
  • Appearance: Jade is surprisingly slender for a wyvern of riding size, Kore theorizes that she was the runt of the liter of a larger than normal brood of green wyverns, an assumption Emerald's appearance seems to support.
  • Temperament: Pushy and energetic. She loves attention and hates waiting around
  • How did you find/Bond with your mount: When Kore was first told she was being taken back to Genzai she ran off into the wilds, pursued by her sister. While there they found a pair of hatchlings whose family was nowhere to be found. The girls spent the day with the wyverns comforting each other until they were found by family members.

Character

  • Name: Grafon Inspira Drakon (please, just call him "Graf," the rhyming is embarrassing)
  • Age: 28
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Half-Elf
  • Origin: Human father from Raein (Odysseus), elven mother from Rona (Carmen)
  • Appearance: Aside from the pointier ears and blazing orange eyes, Graf is nearly the spitting image of his father, though with a bit of elven leanness passed down from his mother, standing nearly six feet tall. He tries to wear clothing along with his riding leathers that give him as much freedom of movement as possible while wearing various sheaths that hold his daggers along with his belt that holds his wands.
  • Skills and Abilities: Besides the wyvern-taming prowess he gained from his father, Graf possesses the following abilities.
    • Knife Fighter: Despite his ambitions for higher and more refined things, Graf understands that he is brutally efficient at working with knives and short blades, both holding and throwing them.
    • Magical Education: Though he doesn’t do much in the way of casting spells himself, Graf knows a bit about magical knowledge thanks to his mother.
  • Equipment:
    • Knives: Whenever Graf is dressed, you won’t catch him with fewer than six of these somewhere on his person.
    • Compass: Graf keeps one around in case he needs to get his directional bearings.
    • Goggles and Mask: For protecting his face while he's in the air and concealing his identity on more clandestine missions.
    • Scorch-wands: In lieu of casting spells, Graf possesses several wands with specially-designed parts where he can place crystals filled with magical flame to fuel fire-based spells until they run out of energy. He generally uses them to compensate for his lack of ranged power in the air whenever Muse is recharging her breath weapon, since the wilder stunts and acrobatics accomplished in mid-air on the back of a wyvern preclude the use of traditional projectiles more beholden to physics.
  • Personality: Graf’s personality is as varying as the fire that seems to glow in his eyes, but the consistent thread is that when he gets an opinion about something, he feels it very strongly, whether openly or in private. There is…well, a lot that he feels happened between him and his parents that he mostly holds Odysseus responsible for, resenting his old man for bringing him into the violent and dangerous (yet no doubt unique and exciting) world of the so-called dragonlords of Raein. Graf feels that his heart is set on more creative and artistic pursuits, particularly in becoming an accomplished writer, but he can’t help but acknowledge two things: that he is very good at the things his father taught him that he hates, and that he’d never forgive himself if he abandoned his family, especially at such a difficult time in their lives.
  • Bio: Graf was born to a union between Odysseus Drakon and Carmen Inspira, a woman of the Kindled Elves from Rona. Initially raised under his mother, Graf was sent to live with his father at the age of 12, with more or less the full story of his parents’ brief life together and the life he could secure for himself under his father’s wing. Though he resented this, he obeyed, devoting himself to training under Odysseus and establishing a strong relationship with his wyvern Muse. With his other siblings they embarked on many missions with their father and his human wife Penelope, and for a moment Graf almost forgot the indignant fire raging within him.
    • Then the news came of disaster in Rona that claimed his mother’s life. Though he hasn’t spoken much on the matter in the years since that incident, his siblings understood that a greater tension had formed between him and their common father up until his dying day, even standing close to the tent’s entrance when Odysseus passed. Now Graf has been looking after his siblings in the year since their father’s death as best as he can while wrestling with the intense emotions swirling within him.

Mount

  • Name: Muse
  • Color: Red
  • Appearance: Muse is a blood-scaled wyvern with two pairs of wings, a main pair and an extra minor pair, suiting her kind, with an intimidating pair of horns on her head that evoke the image of true red dragons. She’s a bit larger than most wyverns her age, at 30 feet in length from nose to tail, owing to her life before meeting Graf out in the wild and her life afterwards, eating plenty of food to stay strong.
  • Temperament: Aloof, yet sharply observant, as if ready to make anything else its prey. Wary around anyone that doesn’t smell of Graf or his blood, but surprisingly nonviolent unless provoked, thanks to Graf's training.
  • How did you find/Bond with your mount: Graf was a boy of 13 when he found himself entranced by the sight of Muse flying above him. After tracking down her home, he would only reveal himself when Muse was around, sitting patiently and offering food until one day a rapport had been built between them, and Odysseus woke up one day to find his son returning home with the young wyvern as his mount.

Rider

  • Name: Theris Rhandir
  • Age: 86
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Elf
  • Origin: Kallian, wandered south over the last decade or so.
  • Appearance: Like so
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Archery and mounted archery (still becoming acclimatized to mounted archery when on a flying beast).
    • Hunting and gathering
    • Woodland navigation
    • Basic herbalism and wound treatments
    • Gryphon Riding, but Theris isn't the best at it.
    • Speaks fluent elvish and common, semi-fluent in orcish (great southern dialect)
  • Equipment:
    • A composite recurve bow
    • A quiver of 50 steel tipped broadhead arrows
    • A quiver of 50 steel tipped bodkin point arrows
    • A steel kukri
    • A steel hatchet
    • Flint
    • Bedroll + Blanket
    • Tent
    • A full set of boiled leather armour
  • Personality: Theris is currently searching for something resembling his purpose in life, or at the very least, something he's good at that he feels good about doing. For the time being, serving as a member of the Dragonwings has helped Theris find his way a bit, because doing good in the world feels good, and as such he tries his damndest to be a good person. Other than that, Theris has taken something of a personal oath to do his best to try and be the person that he saw Odysseus Drakon as. Additionally, Theris has a soft spot for animals and has been known to occasionally adopt various stray dogs, cats, birds and anything else that happens to cross his path on the few occasions he and the Dragonwings have been in cities (Though currently he only has a cat and dog with him).
  • Bio: Born and raised in Kallian, Theris Rhandir's early life was what can only be described as 'generically elvish'; a great deal of focus on nature, the gods, all that good stuff, and even though he rather liked it there, Theris always felt like he didn't belong. In his mid-70s, Theris finally grew tired of his homeland and decided to get to know the world more and figure out just what the gods had in store for him (if anything). It was during his travels out of Kallian that Theris encountered a young Gryphon with one of her hindpaws stuck in a bear trap. Taking pity on the poor creature, Theris pried the trap off of it and set about doing his best to treat the wound and nurse the Gryphon back to health. After the Gryphon was back in good health, she simply refused to leave Theris' side, and thus, an unbreakable bond was formed.
  • As Theris and his new friend, now named Mereth, made their way south, things began to become more and more inhospitable, with Theris struggling to feed himself and Mereth and water becoming scarcer, things started looking grim. It was only when things were beginning to look their worst that Theris and Mereth were taken in by a small, friendly enclave of orcs. It was over the course of a few months that Theris became barely conversational in orcish, with the help of a few of the tribe's elders working with him to teach him the language. It was during his time with the orcs that he both learned that they weren't associated with any of the southern tribes, as well as learning how to better survive in the southern lands. After spending a few years with the enclave to try and repay the favour he felt he owed them, Theris, once again, wandered off further into the south. It was here that Theris met Odysseus Drakon.
  • While their meeting was rather random, Odysseus seemed to take something of a liking to Theris, though Theris would never quite learn why, he simply assumed it was a mutual bond over being friends with flying beasts. Whatever the case, Odysseus took Theris under his wing so to speak and inducted him into the Dragonwings fairly quickly, where he helped teach Theris and Mereth how to work as a unit, as well as teaching Theris how to ride Mereth (something that Theris hadn't done, partially out of a fear of flying, and partially out of respect for Mereth). Over the course of the next few years, Theris would serve as something of a scout for the Dragonwings, as well as the one in charge of finding and preparing food when supplies ran low. But, alas, all good things must come to an end, and when Odysseus passed, Theris didn't really know what to expect off the Dragonwings. One thought was that they'd simply disband over time, which was yet to come, but what the elf didn't see coming was the sudden influx of Odysseus' children joining the band of mercenaries. With the new arrivals, Theris is trying his best to help them fit in with the rest of the Dragonwings and, should the need arise, help teach those who aren't combat ready how to handle themselves in a battlefield scenario should the need arise.

Mount

  • Name: Mereth
  • Color: N/A
  • Appearance: Not actually a wyvern and slightly larger than a horse
  • Temperament: Mereth is something of a narcissist and takes a great deal of care into maintaining her fur and feathers, and greatly appreciates praise, even if she can't understand it. Other than that, she's fiercely loyal to Theris as well as rather affectionate towards him, much like an incredibly loyal cat.

What do you get when you take a previously established alien OC with a distinctly non-magical and species-wide biological trait and try and convert them into a fantasy character?

This, apparently. I'm so sorry.

Character

  • Name: Kyxe Seng
  • Age: 26
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Half-Elf, allegedly. Claims to have 'other stuff' mixed in – but the elven traits are the most obvious at first glance. Also claims to be a relative, descendant, and sometimes daughter of Odysseus – yet strangely she has little knowledge or recollection of him.
  • Origin: Raein
  • Appearance: Very strangely short – only 5'2 in height despite her claims of elven heritage. That and the typical pointed tips of the ears, which is pretty much the only support of her claim. Otherwise, she's mostly human looking, barring pale skin and an odd set of stark white irises. Usually keeps hair cut short at the neck to prevent it getting caught in a skirmish. Bizarre tendency to not blink as often as one should – displays bird-like tendencies of all things with her head tilts and occasionally jerky movements. If one were to ever see, her abdomen has a severe malformation located on her lower right – which also has signs of scarring and burn damage.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Athleticism: Training by her family has given her an increased flexibility and quickness that usually catches her enemies off guard. Having an innate sense for parkour and advanced acrobatics, Kyxe's otherwise slim and admittedly fragile body type means she has to rely on her speed and physical adeptness more than she'd like – and both her disability and any additional injuries could easily become her downfall. Kyxe regularly incorporates her athleticism into her knife combat, making her one dangerous individual; but also has a decent enough knowledge of stealth – though again born more out of necessity than anything else.
    • Diplomacy: Kyxe's openly emotional, yet rational and stern demeanour gives her a down-to-earth and commanding presence, which she usually takes advantage of in constructing deals, defusing tense situations, and comforting allies. Specifically, this skill was encouraged by her mother of all people – she personally wished for the Seng household to forge greater ties with other families, purely for political purposes – but Kyxe has broadened the applications into something a little less manipulative and a little more genuine.
    • Plasma Generation: Kyxe's only innate magical ability. This power is passed down through the generations of her household, granting them the ability to project dangerous balls of concentrated plasma from their palms as well as manipulate and be resistant to both flame and electrical damage (although a constant exposure may develop injury over time). Kyxe personally has suffered some sort of birth defect that renders this ability incomplete – and as such she feels the detrimental effects of overusing it much quicker than the rest of her family. Specific symptoms, (dubbed 'burn-out' by the Seng household,) include cases of heavy fatigue, dizziness, fever, and hacking coughs, and more severe instances brought about by her pushing herself to her upper limits can even cause risk of death – or at the very least a slip into an unconscious, comatose state. Kyxe uses this ability regularly but cautiously in battle – and uses it much more often for more mundane tasks such as lighting fires, cauterizing wounds, or simply for recreational or training purposes.
  • Equipment:
    • Knife Supply: Fitting with her small stature, Kyxe is frighteningly adept with both close-quarters and ranged knife combat – usually carrying dozens of the things in practically every free amount of space in her clothing for quick deployment. With her plasma, she can also heat up the knives to searing levels to increase their lethality – and to rectify the issue of them warping in the process she has begun to cast them in a more sturdy metal than conventional variants – although making them a little less graceful in flight path as a process.
    • Longcoat: A black coloured garb that is traditionally handed to each heir or heiress of the Seng household. The coat has a high collar and a padded interior both for warmth and for allowing many hidden pockets, and the sigil of the Seng family is imprinted on the right shoulder.
    • Amulet of Seng: A small jewelled necklace rarely seen removed from around Kyxe's neck. Yet another heirloom, it is unknown if it has any other effects apart from being a trinket, but it does seem to heat up and glimmer whenever Kyxe uses her plasma abilities. Kyxe is adamant to never have it removed from her sight – and can easily become distressed if it ever is taken away from her.
  • Personality: Although mostly kind-hearted, comforting, and occasionally even motherly in her mannerisms, Kyxe has garnered a reputation for being ruthless and efficient in battle, her coldness towards those she perceives as her enemies becoming nigh animalistic in nature. That being said, she doesn't particularly like fighting by any means, as it tends to quickly tire her out – instead preferring a more diplomatic and social approach to resolving conflict – but once pushed past her limit she will not let up and will try to end it as quickly as possible, convinced that despite her dislike of the process that a more ruthless, direct approach is sometimes inescapable, even if others don't quite see her way of thinking. Due to her family history, Kyxe has been raised with a slightly twisted form of morality, and is good at hiding it – however the occasional head tilt and inquisitive, unblinking stare can give her inwardly bizarre mind away if she isn't careful. She tends to come across as having an overall aura of child-like curiosity combined with a slight aloofness, but occasional slips and mistakes on her part end up revealing a drastically different way of thinking and a warped sense of right and wrong, tending to justify her sometimes rash decisions with incoherent strings of explanations in her own almost-alien trains of nonsensical parodies of 'logic' and other such gobbledygook.
  • Bio: Born to Ji'la Seng and (presumably) Odysseus in the Kingdom of Raein, Kyxe was trained to continue the legacy of her heritage as the latest heir of the Seng household – although complications arose once it was discovered she had a severe disability in the form of a deformation located on her abdomen. Efforts were made to remove it, but the damage lasted nonetheless – most prominently as an increased sensitivity in the afflicted area as well as chronic pain that has plagued Kyxe all the way up into adulthood. Still, despite the reputation of the Seng family's tradition of producing mighty descendants being on the line, causing Kyxe to suffer some discrimination and disappointment at their hands over the years, the girl has remained determined – using loopholes, sheer guts, and blind luck to accelerate her development and at least somewhat adapt to her circumstances and inherent weakness in order to become a respected and ruthless fighter. Still, Kyxe showed much more intrigue in the subject of negotiation and diplomacy than that of combat – her empathic tendencies being a cause for confusion for her immediate family due to the Seng being usually rather callous and casually inhumane with their brutality and utterly confusing justifications for their actions. Still, Kyxe hasn't been left entirely untouched by this twisted mindset – and shows signs of at least a slight disregard for life and an increased capacity for rage despite her efforts to remain relatively peaceable and kind. Believing herself to be a daughter of Odysseus Drakon, Kyxe has packed her bags and ventured out in an attempt to meet and get to know her potential father on a personal level rather than just a mentally constructed image based off of rumours and legend. Even if it is only for a short period of time.

Mount

  • Name: Deldron
  • Colour: White
  • Appearance: As such, but with more blue tinted eyes. Roughly the size of a shire horse.
  • Temperament: Rather independent – hates to be confined and controlled. Tendency to be fearful and prone to tantrums. Is slowly warming up to Kyxe over time, however.
  • How did you find/bond with your mount: After Kyxe's decision to visit Odysseus, her mother Ji'la helped her in tracking down and training a wyvern for use as transportation. Kyxe's inexperience and her rush means that she hasn't quite formed a friendly bond with the creature just yet, but with great patience she is starting to get on its good side.

THE OTHER PENELOPE

  • Name: Penelope Drakon. "No, not that one" has practically become an extra surname.
  • Age: 35
  • Gender: F
  • Race: Halfling
  • Origin: Raein
  • Appearance: Large for a halfling and small by all other standards. Penelope is about 4 feet tall, broad and soft and thickly built. She's got a very round face and wears her hair up in a pair of jaw length ponytails. She is dressed for travel, with sturdy clothes in very plain colors and utilitarian boots.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Clerk: Penelope is an accountant by trade. She gets advanced math, she can read and write blazingly fast, and she understands most of local law and bureaucracy.
    • Magic: Penelope is a magic user, specifically a Sorcerer. Ever since Great-Grandpa Thaddeus fell into a nasty pit of glowing crystals and got himself scratched up good, the family has had a knack for intuitive magic. They went to some scholars once and got it classified under Wild Magic, and it is the case that Penelope can let her spells go wild in order to make them more potent, at the cost of precision. The actual spells she throws around mostly consist of the manipulation and evocation of ice and water. It's not strong enough in scale to consistently effect more than a few people at once, though if she pushes herself she can absolutely throw her weight around at an entire large room of people too.
  • Equipment:
    • Clerical tools: The other kind of clerical. Paper, pens, ink, the works. Most importantly, the decades-old receipt that got them filed under the other Drakon family.
    • Riding Gear: Penelope had the scratch to get a harness and saddle for Selaphiel soon after she got him, and it's a plain and serviceable rig.
    • Cash: Penelope just has scratch in general actually, plenty of money to throw around or invest. She was going to try to buy a stake in the mercenaries as a show of good faith but with the company in mourning that's on the backburner.
    • Good camping gear: Penelope had a long way to go to track down the company, and she came prepared. One of the only real enchanted items she has is a super-light magic tent, small to break down but spacious and welcoming on the inside.
  • Personality: Penelope's accustomed to running damage control, and this has manifested as a supportive personality, trying to look for ways to fix things. She sees her wyvern and her magic as further tools to make things right, but really only on her personal level; she's not a big revolutionary type of person. Personally, the family business has done just fine under the coup and they don't see much reason to change that.
  • Bio: Penelope at first came to the Dragonwings out of a misunderstanding. Her family is actually a completely different Drakon lineage, but by mistake they got a single receipt for a box of hay misfiled together with the other Drakons decades ago and records of their family were falsely converged at an arbitrary point nobody actually understood. Odysseus just sort of appeared on the magically-maintained family tree, not married in but just sort of placed there. This was especially weird because her Drakons were merchants and accountants and clerks and scribes, a bunch of white collar tradesmen who wouldn't be caught dead on the battlefield. This was causing them a lot of trouble in the post-coup world, on account of Drakon being the last name of a famous defector. Penelope herself grew up with a solid head for numbers and magic; she saw numbers as intuitively as her sorcery, and her work to become the next family accountant led her to the Dragonwings. She went to track down Odysseus in order to root out this mess of a misaccounting, and found the erroneously-filed paper too late. She reached Odysseus's camp days before he died, now with no idea on who could execute the will and sign some papers for her, and now without the heart to even bring it up. The word of his failing health touched her so much she didn't want to hassle folks with her bullshit, so she lied and said she wanted to join up. Awkward.

Wyvern

  • Name: Selaphiel
  • Color: BROWN
  • Appearance: Selaphiel's big and imperious, with a heavy jaw and brow and strong wings. He's distinctly more front-heavy than many wyverns, and crawls around on all fours fairly often. He's huge, about 25 feet long and just as wide with his wings extended. His horns curl back and around, big and good for battering like a ram.
  • Temperament: Kind of like a big lazy dog. Not outwardly mean, but passively flexes his presence in a sort of bullyish way to get what he wants.
  • How did you find/Bond with your mount: Penelope found Selaphiel struggling fruitlessly against fairies not even a tenth of his side, teased mercilessly until she swatted them out of the air with a cold snap and shattered the fuckers to pieces. Selaphiel was immediately with her, and they cut a path of dead fairies out of that particular forest on their way to get this shit with Drakon sorted out.

That's some nice worldbuilding. Count me in!

Character

  • Name: Zephyr the Drunk
  • Age: 55
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Human
  • Origin: Mesis
  • Appearance: 5'5" and 170 lbs. Will kick your ass even though he's half-sloshed. His hair is greying, but don't you dare mention it!
  • Skills And Abilities:
    • Zephyr is really, really good at swordfighting and archery while drunk. He staggers around so much that it's really hard to judge where he'll strike or if he'll miss his shot. The drink also dulls the pain he feels from wounds and "makes him stronger" (or at least he believes so), so good luck stopping him when he's fighting drunk. He can also hold his drink pretty well.
    • While he isn't mainly magic-user, he's managed to learn some spells which are useful to him as a fighter—a collection of healing spells for various degrees of wounds. The other spells that he knows cure hangovers and prevent alcohol poisoning. The latter is the only reason why he hasn't keeled over dead from drinking too much.
    • He's heard a lot of rumors and gossip over the years, and holds some scraps of magic knowledge. The main problem with this is that the authenticity of the things he hears are often questionable. His "knowledge" still makes for some great conversation pieces, though.
  • Equipment:
    • He's got a pair of really good swords and a bow that were his share of the loot from some previous escapade of the Dragonwings. If only he'd stop wasting arrows shooting at deer that turn out to be rocks...
    • During a particularly inspired bender, he cobbled together a saddle for Scorn. It's still a fine piece of craftsmanship, with straps to hold his legs when doing complicated air maneuvers. Since Scorn is so bonded with him (he says), he doesn't need reins.
  • Personality: He's pretty jovial most of the time, and likes joking around. Since Odysseus' death, he's acquired some Jade-Colored Glasses and shows some Knight in Sour Armor tendencies, but he still tries to be cheerful for the sake of the new members. He tries to be The Mentor to Odysseus' children, and because they remind him of his late friend, he will go Papa Wolf on people who hurt them.
  • Bio: He was a child from Mesis who became a wandering sellsword because he thought it would be "cool" to do so. He was violently stripped of that notion in his fifth and bloodiest battle, when Odysseus saved his life, and that battle was the reason why he started drinking. He joined the Dragonwings out of gratitude, and bawled his eyes out for days on end after Odysseus died.

Mount

  • Name: Scorn
  • Color: Red
  • Appearance: Scorn's 35 ft. long and just as wide with his wings spread. He's scarred all over and is missing an eye.
  • Temperament: Because of his age, he seems to be more intelligent than other wyverns, and appears to understand what is being said to him (actually he's just responding to people's tone). He mostly sleeps a lot, demands scritches, and is tiredTM of the younger wyverns' antics, though he does try to teach them things sometimes. He listens to Zephyr's commands most of the time. Scorn is the Cool Old Guy of wyverns.
  • Finding & Bonding W/ Mount: Zephyr found this fellow as a hatchling while he himself was still a child. They basically grew up with each other, and consider each other "siblings." Zephyr gave him the name "Scorn" after observing him repeatedly rolling his eyes at random things.

Character

• Name: Meli Arai

• Age: 24

• Gender: Female

• Race: Beastkin - Kitsune

• Origin: Raein born, lived in Gensai

• Appearance: Her appearance is nearly identical to that of her twin sister, short and shapely, with ink black hair and fur. Meli on the other hand primarily wears her hair tied up, and only wears glasses to read. Generally her outfits are much less armored than her sisters, favoring sleeveless leather armor and baggy pants meant to maximize agility.

• Skills and Abilities:

- Dragon Riding: As typical of her siblings, Meli is proficient with riding on her Wyvern. However, unlike her sister, Meli dedicated quite a lot of time to figuring out how to work ninjitsu while atop a wyvern, and so is a little more experienced than her sister.

- Ninjitsu: Looking away from the magic her sister and mother practiced, Meli turned towards a more martial, and yet still somewhat mystical profession. She is trained in Ninjutsu arts, influencing her combat practices, stealth, and equipment choices. Ninjutsu also involved learning how to channel one’s life energy into mystical techniques. Meli’s particular ninjutsu techniques include fire breath, the ability to run on air for a short interval, creating duplicates of herself, and a substitution technique for dodging attacks.

- Weapon Master: Meli learned well during her time with her father, and took that time to master as much of melee combat as she could. She is proficient with swords, spears, shields, archery, as well as hand to hand combat. What weapons she doesn’t know how to use, she can generally figure out.

• Equipment:

- Gaia and Aegis: A sword and a shield that acts as it’s sheath. The shield is also of the type that leaves Meli’s hand free in order to keep her hands on the reigns of her wyvern, or to hold another weapon.

- Kasai: A giant shuriken with a handle in the middle. Able to slash with it or throw it, with it seemingly always able to return unless embedded in something.

- Anemos: A set of longbow and arrows.

- Mizu: A specific sword polearm known as a Nagamaki, though this one has a wider blade than most.

- Ninja Bombs

- Explosive Tags

- Ignition Tags

- Saddle mounted mini crossbow turrets.

- Kunai and Shed Wyvern Scale Knife

• Personality: Meli is confident and a thrill seeker. She is conversational enough, but much more prefer her actions speak for her. Much like her twin, she is protective of her family and rebellious, but unlike Kore, she tends to be to able to remain calm in most situations despite how it may seem. She is able to keep a view on the larger picture of the task at hand, and is often the one to help her sister in line during her stubborn streaks. Meli can however, be a bit mischievous at times.

• Bio: The younger of the twin daughters of Odysseus and a Genzai Kitsune mage. She lived in Raein until she and Kore were twelve, during that time she spent time with her family and how to fight like a soldier, but it was not all meant to be. She and Kore were taken back to Genzai, with naught but her memories and her wyvern hatchling to tie her to her home and father. Training in the ninja arts while her sister progressed in magic, Meli bloomed into a splendid soldier over the years. When Kore, Meli, and their mother heard of Odysseus’ death, Meli and Kore immediately set out to return to Raein and their other roots.

Mount

• Name: Emerald

• Color: Green

• Appearance: Emerald is rather typical in his appearance, though, standing out because of his larger size.

• Temperament: Lazy and hungry. When he gets moving though, it’s like trying to stop a boulder rolling down a mountain.

• How did you find/Bond with your mount: After her sister had run off in response to their coming return to Gensai, Meli ran after her, understanding her pain, as well as wanting to make sure her sister was alright. The two found a pair of hatchlings, as alone as they were, and they spent the day comforting each other until the twins were found.

  • Character
    • Name: Regis Dveyo
    • Age: 27
    • Gender: Female
    • Race: Elf/Dwarf hybrid, mostly elf. (Her Great-Grandfather was a Dwarf, and that part has been slowly breeded out as the family married other "pure" elves.)
    • Origin: Raein, on the southern outskirts.
    • Appearance: Standing at 5'10, Regis for the most part looks like a normal elf, but she seems a tad stockier than most elves, and her long, silky hair is a bright red. She is also substantially more... well-rounded in her appearance than most elves, to be modest about it.
    • Skills and Abilities:
      • A Great Hammer: While most elves prefer a sword that can cut through anything like hot butter or a bow as light as a feather, Regis taps into her Dwarven roots with her great hammer, Breidall. She can swing it as efficiently as a normal elf can a sword, and she receives minimal slowdown in her movements as well.
      • Hit 'Em Really Hard: You know, for an Elf, Regis shows some Dwarf-ass Dwarf tendencies and abilities, one being her great raw strength. She is the definition of Unskilled, but Strong, not having knowledge in a specific kind of art, but swinging her hammer, fists, and occaisonally feet around with great strenght and extreme prejudice.
      • Big, Buff, and Magical: Regis only knows magic that can augment herself and her hammer, and by extension her allies. She can use spells that make her hit harder, take hits better, or heal small wounds, as well as applying fire, ice, earth, or lightning to a hammer swing.
      • Social Butterfly: Regis is good at the talking with the people. She is decent with neogtiations and making new friends on the fly.
    • Equipment:
      • Breidall: A great hammer, it has an odd Gold/Wood mixture going on, with a golden hammerhead and wooden hilt with a small golden rod in the center to keep it all aligned. It also almost seems like small vines grew and spread around the hammer, giving it extra stability.
      • Crossbow: Regis picked up a crossbow on her adventures one day. Then she ran out of ammo, found another one, and used that one instead. Instead of having one specific crossbow, Regis will carry the crossbow of downed enemies, as having and caring for one is apparently too tedious for her.
    • Personality:
      • There was once an elf who was cold and brooding, yet elegant...
      • This is not that elf. Regis is a big, loud ball of fun, making her presence known quite easily and always having a smile and a story. She feels most at home somewhere lively, whether it be a party, a tavern, or a battlefield. She is always the spark of a team she's in, providing the heart and levity that keeps the cogs turning.
    • Bio:
      • Regis was born on the outskirts of Raein, immediately feeling... at home. As she grew up, she quickly made friends, and her and her family esed very well into society, even more than they had before. Sure, there was... friction between her and some of the more... "pure" Alpha Bitch elves, but that's all well and good in the end.
      • Regis strayed further away from normal elven behavior as she grew up. She grew taller, stronger, and... in-other-ways-er, and had a large hammer crafted for her, made of an odd marriage of gold and wood. Her confidence soared, and she found Ridley. They were an odd couple, but they seemed to hit it off okay, and Regis became Ridley's rider.
      • Regis, after saying goodbye to her parents, went and joined the Dragonwings, where she's been ever since. She's been with the group for about 5-ish years now.
  • Mount
    • Name: Ridley
    • Color: Purple (Poison)
    • Appearance: Thin and elegant, with large flowing wings and sharp, pearl white teeth, claws, and spikes protruding starting from the center of the spine and leading to the stinger in the back. Has a long snout and slightly smaller eyes than normal.
    • Temperament: Seems very regal and elegant, with an odd sense of style and personal grooming. Also, somehow very polite and receptive compared to other wyverns. Loves fish over other kinds of meat.
    • How did you find/Bond with your mount: Regis found Ridley one day when he was grooming himself, and she fawned over his design. She found and gave him some fish and he followed her around for a bit, and she gave him some more, and he realized he had found a lifelong friend. They've been inseparable ever since.

@Aqua: Rev is accepted.

@Taco: Penelope is accepted.

@Jumping Fruit: Zephyr is accepted.

@Solus: Meli is accepted.

@Enirboreh: Alright, so you said this was a retrofitted Alien OC, and it shows. It's not a bad sheet, but it kind of clashes with the setting a little bit. She's a bit too off, is what I'm saying, and the weird racial ability doesn't fit. As is, Kyxe is not accepted.

@Def Revenge: Just need a few quick elaborations. Did she purposely look for the Dragonwings? Why them? Did she talk to Odysseus? How did she know about them?

Let's see.

  1. She purposely looked for the Dragonwings, yes.
  2. She had no real knowledge of any other major groups, so she chose the Dragonwings.
  3. She was eventually delegated to Odysseus, but she talked to a few people before him, and the encounter was more "Hey, I want in the Dragonwings-" "Yeah, sure, here are your papers, I have important business to attend to."
  4. Let's say she had a run-in with a member or two in her youth, and they encouraged her to join when she had grown up.

I will say I'm very much a winging-it kinda guy, and like a bit of unorthodoxy in my characters, but hopefully this one's a little more fitting than Kyxe. I was very much unsure as to whether she would work anyway, so I'm glad that's cleared up.

Character

  • Name: Amaru Navajo
  • Age: 24
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Human/Beastkin hybrid note
  • Origin: Born as an outsider of unknown origin; currently living in Raein
  • Appearance: 5'9, of a fairly feminine build – and often mistaken as female as a result. Blue slitted eyes and a forked tongue, and almost always surrounded by his snakes as seen in this image.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Hunting Instinct: Amaru's time spent alone in the wild has rendered him more tapped into his bestial side. As such, he is exceptional when it comes to tracking, stalking, and ambushing prey – and his savage form of combat when it comes to hunting usually (but not always) makes up for the more technical skills he is lacking in, even if he is unarmed. Amaru also has an innate sense of direction as a result of his exposure to the elements – and his environmental awareness means he is very difficult to sneak up on.
    • Survivalist: Tying into his serpentine instincts is a limited, yet effective knowledge of survival techniques ranging from traditional to downright savage. While lacking in more technical skills such as the construction of shelters and complicated machinery like pulleys, Amaru does have more adeptness in rough jury-rigging, and tends to take a more animalistic approach when it comes to surviving out in the wilderness. The ability to put up a simple tent is considered redundant for him when he can just search for a suitable, unexposed spot in a cave or a clearing somewhere to spend the night. Unfortunately, this means he is naturally clueless when it comes to modern civilisation and their common standards of courtesy – as well as their mechanics and technologies.
    • Animal Charmer: Amaru has developed a very intimate relationship with nature due to his constant exposure to it, and has used his human-like intelligence as an advantage in manipulating lesser wildlife to his own gain. His carefully constructed, soft-spoken and lilting tone is almost hypnotic in nature, and he has learned many different tics and behaviours of specific species in order to get on their good side easier. However, this is still quite a luck-based process – and a long one at that – and his current situation means he doesn't have as much free time to spend on getting friendly with the creatures of the wild. As such, this is more of a novelty than anything; a novelty that Amaru has primarily used to collect a variety of pets with – the most prominent being snakes, which he always at least has one of on his person at all times.
  • Equipment:
    • Blowgun: His original preferred weapon before he received the Chainwhip, which he has kept even after moving to Raein. Amaru has collected a supply of natural poisons (some derived from plants, others from the fangs of his serpents) over his years of living out in the wild, and constructed a blowgun from a bamboo shoot in order to use them against his prey in the form of darts. While some have doses only of paralyzing or simply knockout-inducing effect, the grand majority of them are lethally potent – and while they take a while to kick in they can cause death within the hour if not treated. Kept in pouches and satchels on his belt and within the folds of his clothing, Amaru has also been known to implant doses in his enemies' meals or into the fabric of their coats and gloves while they are unaware.
    • Hunting Knife: Amaru's first and most reliable tool. It is constructed with carved bone for the blade and wrapped vines for the hilt, and is primarily used for skinning his catches more than as an offensive item. Obviously, its use is limited by the materials it is created from, but Amaru has a bit of a sentimental attraction to it – and its now stained red surface is a reminder of his earlier escapades and successful hunts, and as such it has more of a nostalgic feeling to him than anything at this point.
    • Chainwhip: His first purchased weapon when moving into Raein, which is literally just a long chain that he's altered to incorporate many razor-sharp extensions into its links as well as the addition of a grip. Its long range and striking power is only hindered by its long wind-up time and occasional inaccuracy – however Amaru is more than happy to use dirty methods and even flat-out retreating if his opponent is skilled enough to avoid his attacks. Amaru's fighting style – much like his other tactics – are based primarily off of improvisation and unpredictability rather than any real learned skill, and involves a lot of mixture between lithe movements and deliberately amateurish floundering to get his opponent to let their guard down. All this and the fact the weapon is designed to inflict more painful, gouging damage than anything truly fatal – granted it doesn't sever a major artery – only serves to cement Amaru's disturbing form of pragmatism to those bearing witness to him. At least, until he decides to lace the edges with some of his poison...
  • Personality: A bitter, condescending, yet intelligent survivalist, Amaru has a sharp wit and a cynical, biting sense of humour to match, rarely displaying any form of remorse for his actions nor genuinely seeming to care about any of his 'allies' other than useful assistants and fascinating debate machines. As far as he is concerned, the only person worth bothering for is his own self – and his arrogance and laziness doesn't at all match up to his actual skill. This is especially displayed on his constant insistence on pursuing leadership roles, even though his unplanned spontaneity and procrastination displays just how hideously unsuited he is for the role. Perhaps the best thing that could be said about him is that he is usually more observant of the little things than other people tend to be, and is more than willing to point out flaws in individuals in a very matter-of-fact manner – which is useful if an enemy is being receiving, but not so useful if he perceives any of his comrades as having lackluster tendencies. That said, he does seem to have recently gained an interest interacting with other people, although it has to be clarified that it's more of a scientific curiosity brought about by boredom than anything truly extraverted – and it isn't uncommon for him to flit from individual to individual if he thinks the last person wasn't interesting enough. It is difficult to find any form of warmheartedness and decency underneath the unpleasant, hypocritical, and irresponsible exterior – and if they do at all exist despite his years of self-inflicted isolation it is very unlikely that they'll come to light – and absolutely impossible for him to ever admit either to himself or anyone else. As his history suggests, he enjoys the process of hunting in a borderline sadistic manner, even though he's retired from a full-time lifestyle of the activity – and a successful kill is one of the few things to bring a smile to his face. (His tendency of eating his catches raw and barehanded is to be mentioned – a habit that only alienates him further from those unfortunate enough to be watching him while doing this.)
  • Bio: As far as Amaru is aware, he has always been a serpent at heart. His earliest memories were of a purely instinctual mindset within the unkempt grasslands and forests, but his occasional encounters with civilisation over the years had allowed him to pick up a broader knowledge of techniques as he grew. Despite this, he continually refused to be a part of society, enjoying the freedom and lack of morality needed to live unaccompanied in the wilderness – eventually gaining an almost philosophical pleasure in the process of hunting for prey and developing a mindset that he was some sort of 'apex predator'. This animalistic attitude continued into his early adulthood, until he started to realise the advantages brought about by living in more traditional society, and started to eak his way into citizenship of Raein over a long period of time – most of the delay being caused by his own doubts and reluctance to leave his old lifestyle. Eventually, however, he succeeded in his emigration – successfully securing a place to stay despite some initially uncomfortable interactions with a variety of landowners that were deeply disturbed by his lack of basic civility and odd mannerisms. However, even though he had elected to try and live as at least a somewhat functioning member of society, Amaru finds the daily routines he is expected to stick to incredibly tedious, and thus is very much an opportunist actively seeking out stimulating experiences whether it be in the form of reckless behavior or simply taking jobs from certain unsavoury individuals. His experiences with meeting other people have been (in his mind) an intellectual experiment – a change of pace from his earlier habits of isolation – and although he's feeling the call to return to his old way of life he's finding it hard to leave behind the chatter of other people in favour of unintelligent beasts, even if most of said chatter is him snarking at them and them trying desperately not to strangle him the whole while. As such, when he heard the news of Odysseus Drakon being on his deathbed, Amaru couldn't resist the sense of curiosity he felt – as well as the prospect of meeting more intriguing people. With nothing much better to do, Amaru chose to steal a mount to head to the site of interest, taming the beast he had captured with his learned skill of animal-charming. Though much to his surprise, creating a bond with the creature wasn't as difficult or time-consuming as he thought...

Mount

  • Name: Ophiuchus
  • Colour: Grey
  • Appearance: 5 metres long (including tail), 2-3 metres high (including wings).
  • Temperament: Rather calm and relaxed. Lazy like its rider, but not nearly as unpleasant. Tends to have an almost sultry, teasing demeanour – though again, in a leagues more acceptable way than Amaru himself.
  • How did you find/bond with your mount: This particular wyvern was already a noted specimen kept in reserve for eventual use of bonding with another Dragonlord. However, Amaru used his charms and animal-whispering to tame it beforehand, and stole it away before its actual owner had the chance to properly connect with the creature. All things considered, it's remarkably accepting of its situation – though that may simply be because Amaru repeatedly takes it with him when he feels the urge to go on a hunting trip. Apparently its stomach was the way to its heart. Who knew.

Just tossing something out here.

  • Name: Veylian Drakon
  • Age: 22
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Ichthyan
  • Origin: Raein
  • Appearance: Barbie Doll Anatomy applies.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Divination: Not exactly actual foretell-the-future via magic means, but she's fairly sensitive to environmental/atmospheric changes, which is kinda like a sixth sense or something (e.g. detecting an ambush mostly by body heat the ambushers emit)
    • Minor regeneration: Lose a finger or two? It can grow back in a week or so. However, the muscle memory gets degraded and it tends to take another week for full control to be regained. The most she's regenerated is a half a foot (toes included), and that took two months or so to properly recover.
    • Runic magicks: Functions a bit more like buffs for allies and traps on terrain. Most of her runes are watery in nature, but she does know a few (somewhat sinister) lifeforce-related ones.
    • Acid resistance: Exposure to an acid wyvern mount tends to go two ways, and Veylian got lucky in her case.
  • Equipment:
    • Etruskit: A harpoon thing, notable for a particularly nasty barbed point. The fact that the shaft is made out of jagged coral doesn't seem to bother (or even harm) Veylian none.
    • A bundle of javelins, made from mundane wood, replenished whenever possible. A weird choice given her middling physical strength, but even if throwing is not easy, dropping large sticks on victims is always effective.
  • Personality: Somewhere sitting between naive child and village idiot, Veylian's head is practically always in the clouds on a foggy night. One's first impression of Veylian would probably be her milling around mumbling about things only she would observe. The only time she seems to have some semblance of focus is when there is quite the major risk at hand, and even then the focus tends to only reach "regular person" level. Her view of her peers lapses from comrades to playthings, somewhat enjoying being an annoyance with her inconsistency; the only thing that Veylian treats with some actual common sense is her mount Valriss, being a doting/teasing sister figure to the wyvern.
  • Bio:
    • As an infant, Veylian was left on the doorstep of the Dragonwings with a strongly worded message from an Ichthyan authority directed at Odysseus. While efforts were made to nurture her in water as much as on land, it was nowhere near how much water a typical Ichthyan would get growing up, which some say led to her ditzy disposition. However, the progression of her airheadedness would taper off as she grew older, and enough training stuck in her head that she could stay in the troupe.
    • Eventually, the question of whether she would want to find about her maternal origins came back to her, to which Veylian remains fairly interested in. Which would manifest as adding "searching near undersea volcanic vents" to her list of things she randomly disappears for. Oddly enough, Veylian was absent at Odysseus' deathbed, and she has yet to give a coherent reason why. That, coupled with her seemingly affected little by the news, did not serve her any favours.

Mount
  • Name: Valriss
  • Color: Orange (Veylian insists on "tangerine")
  • Appearance: Aside from having a missing appendage on the should-be 4-pronged claw tail, and a somewhat round-y belly, Valriss is otherwise more or less the usual orange wyvern.
  • Temperament: Likes to think himself the sensible sidekick to Veylian, but falls easily to her antics. Is otherwise a little sarcastic and condescending.
  • How did you find/Bond with your mount: One time during a random stroll, Veylian tripped over the tail of a certain orange whelp. While initially offended, it somehow got the impression that the girl would be worse off without its 'watchful eye', and sought to mind Veylian since then.

Is this still alive? I normally don't do something like this, but it's been dead silent for a while and I didn't see the thumped message. Are you okay?
