I'm having the same problem.
I'm having the same problem as well.
I suspect the bugs page would be the best place to report this.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.I thought I was alone with this issue. Glad to hear that I'm not. At least I can "try the new search" in order to get it to work, else it would be a real pain in the butt.
It's not reproducible by everyone. Could be on Google's end.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Actually, I wonder if the "smart quotes" setting may be responsible. I had a similar issue and it resolved after turning smart quotes off.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat's especially interesting since the "new search" doesn't seem to pay any attention to the quotes.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Yep same problem. I gotta go to Google and type in "Tvtropes (whatever)" in their search bar instead. FYI I am using a desktop browser.

I usually use a PC when browsing TV Tropes and I wasn't having this issue earlier today, but then I tried searching for something on the mobile version and got hit with this bug, and now the search isn't working on my PC either.
It still works if I use the new search preview, though.
It's happening to me also. I'm using Firefox 61.0.2 on my win10 laptop. Definitely a at TV Tropes' end.
I have found that it is the small everyday deed of ordinary folks that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love. - TolkienAnd the google search stopped working for me. Now I have to use the barely-functional search preview
It seems to be a google problem not a TV tropes one. My chrome home page is also down and went down roughly around the same time the search function did.
Or it could just be separate incidents. Who knows?
Also having this problem in Chrome on Windows 10 laptop. "New search function" really doesn't work well at all, either. It totally ignores quotes when searching a phrase.
yup, just a page with no results.
Also happening to me, as of today. Just a blank page, whenever I use the searchbar. Using current Firefox. When I use any regular search engine, including my default (Google), I can just put in the page plus tvtropes and bring up a link to the page here; clearly something on tvtropes' end, not Google.

I've also noticed the same problem. Worse, the new search isn't giving reliable results (it doesn't seem to be searching the text of the articles, and it didn't yield a recap page that I searched for by name), so that's not a reliable substitute.
I'm having the same problem.
Having the same issues. The only way I find what I want is by previewing the new search, selecting the most relevant option, and navigating the link to the appropriate page.
Also having consistent issues with the Google search not showing any results; started about yesterday morning, 7 Sep 0600 EDT. So I went to try the new search function looking for a page I recently created, Webcomic.Fifteen Minds, and my page wouldn't show up. The page type restrictor also doesn't seem to do anything- I got exactly the same order of mixed trope and work page results whether I had "All" or "Work" selected.
Interestingly, I had tried the search before for some older works pages (maybe Literature. The Dresden Files, or WebVideo.Cooking With Dog) and their respective works pages showed up first in the results, as they should. Perhaps the indexes for our in-house search aren't getting updated very often?
"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."Bump - having the same issue.
I don't have any results displaying, though I'm able to use the "Preview our new search" option. I don't really like it, I preferred the old search, but if the only option I have is to use it, I'd rather they cut out the middle man and just go directly into the New Search option.

Issue is still persisting. Someone should notify the staff of this.
The staff is aware, but we don't have reasons to believe that it's a problem with TV Tropes as opposed to a Google issue.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanGiven that Google is by all appearances doing absolutely nothing about it, what is our recourse in that case?
When I type something into the search bar and hit enter. It\'ll do a search, and come up with a page saying something like \"About 70,900 results (0.23 seconds)\", but it won\'t actually display any of those results. There\'s just empty space beneath that.
Has this been happening to anyone else?
