Not Like Other Girls and You Are a Credit to Your Race

I thinkyou can derivate other tropes from these, like, if for example you mix the two you get Not Like Other People From Your Race which would include examples like "you know it's weird youdon't like spicy food considering you're mexican". But relating to something four paragraphs below, if we make it, maybe we should make it more general, something like Not Like Other People From Your Group .

And while reding Not Like Other Girls I thought I was gonna be about when, similarly to You Are a Credit to Your Race , a guy tells a woman You Are Good At X For A Woman , I mean, this is a direct quote from it:

"However it's meant, this line can be interpreted as a backhanded compliment. By saying that your intelligence, sense of humor, or independence make you "different from other guys/girls," it's implied that the rest of your gender sucks (compare You Are a Credit to Your Race ). "

But none of the examples read like "you're a woman, thus you you should be bad at x", but more like "you're a woman, thus you should like x", so I propose we should create another trope for the former.

And shouldn't there be another trope like You Are a Credit to Your Race , but not directed at a race/ethnicity but at members of any group in general? like for example LGBTQI people? though in their cases the credit is usually more specific, i think (?), like "you're pretty manly for a gay guy" or "you're very pretty for a trans girl".

Also, do you think it would be overkill to create a characterization trope that describes the kind of character that is offended by these kind of comments and lecture the one who made it, even if theymade that comment without thinking about the implications / didn't mean it like that? Like, for example, a Straight Gay who would find the above comment offensive, both because he knows there's nothing wrong with being Camp Gay even though he isn't (contrasting with Stop Being Stereotypical ) and because saying things like that makes it look like gay's that aren't camp are rare or don't exist.

Also, would any of you mind if I add a line to Straight Gay saying that people that try to use this trope to describe a gay person in real life are verging on No True Scotsman fallacy, or is that just my opinion?

EDIT: they're also verging on Aggressive Categorism

I'm not entirely sure that this is an good idea. Mostly because you need examples on this site if you want go anywhere good.

As for the LGBT stuff, I know this will piss somebody off, but you can't really judge people based off the way they act. I know that the stereotypes exist, but is it really worth it to rely on them?

Well, I don't think it would be that hard to find examples of You Are Good At X For A Woman So, I will definitely put it in Trope Launch Pad.

I just kinda wanted input on the others.

And I think I'm gonna ask the question about adding Aggressive Categorism to Straight Gay on it's thread on Trope Repair Shop.

Also,if I wanted to add as related tropes to Not Like Other Girls both Aggressive Categorism and Crossdresser (for cases in which "she" is not like other girls because is a he), can I just do it or should I open a thread somewhere? And what if a want to propose creating a Distaff Counterpart for it? do I just put it in Trope Launch Pad? but once launched Do I have to ask somebody before adding them to the Distaff Counterpart page?

I think "not like other guys" is also a stock phrase, and the funny part is that is not only used by women; but "not like other girls" isn't used only by men either, both are pretty cliche ways to describe the main character and the start of a book, I think. Something that I think could work better as a Distaff Counterpart for Not Like Other Girls is He Is Different , that's the usual response when a friend tells another that all men, usually those belonging to a group like Jocks, are jerks, sometimes giving examples of people they've dated. But putting it that way, that may also be another trope, gonna put it in Trope Launch Pad too. But, see? Now I don't know what to call the Distaff Counterpart of Not Like Other Girls ; maybe it doesn't have one? maybe saying that of a dude doesn't have the same bad implications saying that of a girl has?

Look, I'm not well-versed with the sexist tropes on here; but you can't just go on an crusade to add new tropes or change them on your own. If anything, you could ask around some more to see if it's feasible to expand upon the definition to something less specific. After all, asking questions ain't going hurt anyone.
