I'm quite sure there's anime where there's Accidental Hand-Hold, and the hands have sparks jump between them, but I can't find them easily...

Couldn't this have waited until after launch to get a thread? Things might change in the interim between an image being chosen and the trope being launched, and it's a lot easier to think of examples/suggestions when there's an actual page with wicks...
Regardless, I think the WALL-E suggestion is okay, but weakened by the fact that they're both robots — if you don't know they're love interests, it might just look like some sort of electrical reaction.

As the one who grabbed this, as the OP's last edit was from 2014, I'm thinking of an appropo image for this. So far, the only image I could think of is this one
◊ from WALL•E. The other ones that I thought of previously were stock images, which are discouraged.
Also, any thoughts for a better title? Sparks Of Love should've been fine, but it was thematically taken by Flames of Love, and so, I have to differentiate from the "X of Love" titles.
If you have any suggestions, let me know.
