In one article, Internet Backdraft has been described as a "Universal resentment", yet it's page describes otherwise (see Broken Base). Is that true?

Internet Backdraft is when particular topics within a particular work spawns intense arguments and debates, such that a newcomer to that part of the internet innocently mentions that topic thinking it is unique and ends up restarting the fire. The topics themselves tend to be relatively neutral ideas and concepts, it is usually more that the argument spreads into something much broader than the original topic. An example would be about a tv character who is Camp Straight and it being dissected as indicative of a problematic attitude towards effeminate personalities across all forms of media.

Broken Base is when there is a distinct fracture of the fanbase going in one direction or the other over a specific event. Especially common in Ship-to-Ship Combat, as everyone will have their preferred pairing and get up in arms about a specific couple becoming official, great for those who supported them but a disaster for those who didn't.

Regarding your question, you may have to link to the specific article you are talking about. Internet Backdraft is not about "universal resentment," but it is about things which engage very strong emotions.
