ITT: We Are All Fantasy Characters

Welcome to the kingdom of Generica! Where you can be, or do, anything! Some restrictions may apply.

Creatures of all species, occupations, etc. are welcome in the kingdom. Come live in the big town of Saccharine, in the middle of the kingdom. Or don't, if you don't want to. There's a big forest nearby, some abandoned buildings, and much more! You can do almost anything you want.

But be warned, there's already someone in the kingdom, and he may be plotting some petty, food-related crimes...

A few miles away from Saccharine, lightning flashes as we see an enormous mansion, colored a deep shade of red. This is the majestic Velvet Manor.

Inside, as dramatic music plays, we see a dark throne room. Sitting on the throne is... a fat Kodiak bear. He's munching on a breadstick. Suddenly, a small creature enters the room. It's a crab.

Upon seeing the crab, the bear shoves the rest of the breadstick into his mouth and swallows quickly. The crab makes a bunch of quick hand motions and high-pitched squeaks.

"So..." says the bear. "There are some newcomers here, huh? Well, I suppose we'd better pay them a visit! Jake, rally the troops! We're going into town. Surely these people would love to pay homage to the great Lord Ulrich..."

Welcome to my new roleplay thread! You don't need a signup sheet to join, just introduce your character entering the setting. (For example, "A pirate werewolf docks his boat at the shore nearby." I dunno. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). You can join at any time.

Like the intro says, your character can be any species and occupation you want. Just don't make your character too OP. I don't know if this thread will ever actually be PvP, but if it does turn out that way, we wanna keep it fair.

I think that's it. Just join when you're ready, and have fun! I want this thread to be kind of chill. You can do almost anything you want, but if the thread is inactive for too long, or if you all want me to, I'll try and start some story arcs.

Still hoping for Klonoa to get a new game... or a movie like this

Arva, a smallish red-scaled dragon, enters the town, looking the place over. This was the place where she was finally settling down! No more sleeping in the mud, or shady inns, or with guys who let her in because they liked "her style..."

But no more! Today she sleeps in a house! HER house! She just needs to buy it...

Meanwhile, in town, we see a coach-and-four come rattling up to the most luxurious inn available, which, thinks its occupant, isn't saying all that much from the looks of it. The driver, an anthropomorphic horse, calms the four...horses, then goes to open the door. As he does so, two burly and especially large rat guards in armor hop out first, then form themselves into a step as a dainty foot steps out.

The passenger is a slender, feminine figure, wearing a traveling cloak that's unusually expensive-looking, only a white muzzle poking out from under the hood. After stepping down on her minions' hands, she pauses to look around the courtyard. "Ah," she says, "It seems my arrival has gone unnoticed yet. Well enough for my purposes. Let us take board in this...establishment."

Just so you know, there's no one else in the town right now. I forgot to mention this in the intro. I may have to create some NPCs later, but for now, it's empty aside from the player characters.

There will be an in-universe justification for this, but I won't tell yet. ;) Although I will say that Ulrich has nothing to do with it.

Anyway, the point is, you can settle in anywhere. Just spend some time looking around if you want, and I'll have Ulrich come in soon.

Oh, let me update that real quick.

On looking around, though, she quickly realizes that there's nobody else around—and in consternation she stamps the ground. "What is the meaning of this?! Well...men! We're requisitioning this building for the moment. Get everything set up!" Her servants scurry to unload trunks and drag them in.

A human knight appears from a strange rift, and looks confusingly at all the funny animals.

“What bizarre Lovecraftian dimension have I gone into now?”

“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”

psssst it's not all furries.

Arva walks around, confused. Not a person in sight. Eugh, they're probably hiding from her. "Hello?! I'm not gonna eat you, ya know! I'm not even hungry!" Finally, she catches sight of what looks to be a... fox? Whatever, it's someone. "Hey! You!" She says, trotting towards her.

I'm Huney B now. Okay?

(The knight internally monologues to himself “Adding further on to the fact that this dimension is weird, I saw a dragon, and they didn’t rip me into big meaty chunks. I am definitely not in England anymore.”)

I’ll be doing monologues in parentheses.

“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”

Nakhta—for so it is—has allowed herself momentarily to be left alone, and is just walking into the inn when she hears a voice, finally. Spinning, and making her cape flare dramatically, she turns to confront whoever it is. A...dragon? A female dragon, at that! A lot smaller than she expected, but still.

She doesn't lower her cloak yet, but doesn't leave, either. "Oh, are you a resident of this community?" she asks, taking a few steps toward the other. "It's about time someone turned up. What happened?"

Moments later, what feels like a raindrop splashes suddenly against Arva's forehead, only to quickly pull itself back to reveal a miniature Water Sprite holding its head and muttering something in a high-pitched voice.

"Damn it, damn it! Ouch... hey, who are you? I haven't seen anyone else around here..."

Only seconds after recoiling from the impact, the Sprite is already zipping around Arva, mostly visible due to the shine that seems to be caused by its every movement. It doesn't seem to be moving too much faster than a normal human at the pace of a run, but its tiny, liquid frame and internal lighting makes that speed look like a blur.

"That's... what I was gonna ask you. I'm just an adventurer. I was hoping to buy a home here, but..." She scratches her head, confused. "I just don't know. You're clueless too?"

Inside of her, that good ol social anxiety is creeping in, as clear by her lack of eye contact with Nakhta.

She flinches with a small eep as the water sprite hit her. "Hm...?"

The knight walks into the scene.

“Oh, hello! Could you please introduce yourself?”

“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”

"Introductions, right! Good idea! You people go first."

Fitting for its size, the sprite speaks in a hurried tone, and bobs up and down occasionally. It's difficult to pick out, but it seems to be gesticulating as it speaks, not that its hands are much more than half an inch in size.

I need to update these things more often

Nakhta is already eyeing the dragon with interest, probably unintentionally making her uncomfortable, when that water sprite joins in, making her jump back, right into a returning guard. "Wait. Don't tell me. Were you all summoned here as well?" She doesn't really believe in magic, per se, but this is hard to grasp. She glances over at the...hairless monkey thing, too, with curiosity.

Taking a deep breath, she does what she's best at: being dramatic. Tossing back her cloak to reveal her tiara as well as her (ahem) very pretty face, she strikes a pose. "I am Nakhta, of the House of Reynard—de Renaud, to you—queen of Vulland and a stranger here, apparently. What of you? Let's start with the armored...person," she says gesturing to the knight, realizing how awkward the dragon seemed to be at the moment.

A young lady then comes up into the town, curious. She wore some simple guard clothing, and like an everyday guard, carried a spear with her. She also wore her messy orange hair up in a badly-done ponytail. This lady had a bored expression on her face, lit up with a bit of caution upon seeing how empty the town is. ...It then lit up with relief as she saw a group of travelers like her up ahead.

"Strange, strange... Um...!" Realizing her mumbling, she awkwardly introduced herself.

"I-I'm Bryn. Sorry to interrupt like this..."

"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"

“My name is Michael III of England. Where I come from, humans are the dominant species, and the other animals don’t speak.” the knight answers.

“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”

"England? Sorry, I can't say I've heard of this land where animals can't talk. I think they're a norm here." Bryn shakes her head, apologizing for not knowing.

"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"

Out of the corner of her eye, she sees Nakhta staring her down... and she's indeed uncomfortable. "I-I'm... uh... I'm Arva. I adventure and stuff..." She says, kneading her clawed hands nervously.

I'm Huney B now. Okay?

Nakhta softens a little, offering a slightly encouraging smile to Arva instead. "Dragons I've heard of, and it's intriguing to meet one in person. But I've never heard mention of a 'human', or England."

"Weird. I have heard the stories of people meeting talking animals before, but I never thought I'd actually see two of them."

Bryn is surprised at the revelation that one of them doesn't know what human is. I could just say "an intelligent monkey", but...

"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"

"Well, aren't we a diverse bunch. Except for size... this is going to be difficult isn't it. But that's beside the point. I'm Nyss, or Issa, depends on what you prefer. Oh, and let's get the stupid questions out of the way: yes, I'm made of water. Yes, you can consume me, but I'd die, so I'd rather you not. No, I am not a girl, even though everyone seems to think all of us are. No, I am not a boy either. It's really better if you don't ask these sorts of questions."

Nyssa floats between various individuals as it speaks, not focusing too much on any single person. It doesn't seem to be phased at all by the variety of origins between everyone, though it does pause for a moment to get a better look at Nakhta's clothing.

Michael says “Oh, hello” to Bryn. (“Nice to see that there’s another human round here. She must be from another universe, though, since England apparently doesn’t exist where she comes from.”)

“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”

Bryn glares at the small sprite. Yet again! Wow, there are some intreresting people here! Maybe it was worth quitting that boring guard job after all!

"So there's a sprite here too... Wait, are you a sprite?"

Meanwhile, Ulrich and his crab minions are crouching behind a nearby bush, watching the others.

"What's going on? What are they doing?" Ulrich demands. One of the crabs whispers to him.

"So... they're simply talking? Becoming... friends? Without me?" The crab nods.

"W-Well I'll just have to take matters in my own paws. Minions, we'll bide our time and keep watching them for now, but be ready to prepare our epic introduction," he says, pulling out an apple and taking a slow, dramatic bite.

Well, I got ninja'd a few times while writing this. Sorry, I didn't want to interrupt anyone this quickly. Anyway, please continue.
