I disagree. It’s the same thing.

This trope is ‘What is set up to be an interracial relationship (bait) is in turn switched to not ending up being one’. It ends up being the same result if it’s sex, species, age, whatever.

  • With Persona 4 its gay but turns out to be straight.
  • With Shrek it is Orc and Human but turns out to be just orcs.
I know I have read a manga where a guy shows up to a Omiai with a picture of the person's mother or daughter, cant remember the name though.

As I said in the OP, I suggest either cutting it or unlaunching back to TLP.

Okay, apparently we have Suddenly Suitable Suitor, which is exactly my idea was in the previous page. Merge into that trope?

EDIT: Er, wait, SSS is about nobility/royalty status. Yeah, there's definitely a missing supertrope here.

Looking at Faux Interracial Relationship, the description can sure be made more descriptive, but most importantly the name is nearly nonsensical.

However, just by looking at the page I found a missing example, viz. Khaavren and Daro in The Phoenix Guards, one of the Dragaera books.

I would support sending it back to Trope Launch Pad for renaming.

Those last 2 have very little to do with this trope. 99.9% of those arnt the kind of bait and switch that have to happen with this one.

Not Blood Siblings falls into it on occasion. It's usually known by the characters, whether it's revealed to the audience or not, but there are also cases where they find out in the end. Still, that's two tropes overlapping. Sweet on Polly Oliver is much the same, but more rare, I believe.

Hence why I think we need to combine just the bait and switch scenario into one (super?) trope with possibly soft splits.

Those bait and switches can happen like for Not Blood Siblings in Oniichan No Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara Ne (I don't like you at all, Big Brother!!) sets this up and then debunks it the very first episode to the Little Sister Heroine having a Heroic BSoD when she learns of it cause she wanted it.

Let's make redefining the description another option then...

Crowner for the options please?

Can anyone make a crowner for this? I do not have the time to do so.
