Just saw this on Buzzfeed. Marvel is doing an animated multimedia project featuring a bunch of their young heroes like Ms. Marvel, Patriot, Squirrel Girl, Ms. America and Spider-Gwen.

I am guessing this is their answer to DC's popular Super Hero Girls franchise.

Just like the other Marvel show aimed for a younger audience, I will find a way to complain about this one. Namely:

  • Why not do an adaption of New Warriors? No, the comedy series being made by Marvel doesn’t count. I mean the actual one from the 90s which have Nova, Namorita, F Irestar and Justice as key members. The one which have a very all inclusive membership (seriously a paraphaligic member who kick ass in spite of her disability, holy shit). And the one whose whole premise is about the new generation of heroes.
  • Or maybe an adaption of Young Avengers? Might as well capitalize on the Avengers hype by using a team comprised of characters who are (somewhat) related to the main team. Also something tells me the Patriot in this show isn’t going to be Eli Bradely.
  • Or maybe Avengers Academy (wow a lot of teen Avengers type team). After all it has a focus regarding training the next generation of heroes mostly to steer them away becoming villains themselves and I do like the characters in that series. Especially Mettle. Seriously, 10 bucks say Greg Cipes would have voiced the dude given some of his similarities to Kevin Levin in Ben 10 Alien Force.
  • Or New Mutants . . . wait, no, nevermind. Still own by Fox at this point. Plus with the movie coming out, Marvel wouldn't want to do a kids show of a horror movie (even though the original comics weren’t a horror series). For that matter the same could be said for New X Men, Generation X and X Men in general even though they all fit the theme of heroes for a new generation through the teens. Maybe I should watch X Men Evolution again.
  • Or maybe the Champions . . . [lol][lol][lol] Good thing I’m not on the Marvel Discussion, otherwise this thread would of been locked due a mere mention of this group.

But yeah, not really hyped for this show.

Ghost Spider Rider

Speaking of Ghost Rider, where the hell is Robbie Reyes? I’m sure he is more popular to appear in here than Inferno.

Also, would it be cooler if this show be a loose adaption of the Spider-Man Fantastic Four team with Miles Morales, Laura Kinney, Amdeus Cho and Robbie Reyes as the members?

Because (and I mean no offense) who? There's a reason they went with this cast. It's all either currently popular characters or people the company as actively pushing. The New Warriors are basically also-rans at this point.

Probably in case they want to use Jessica Drew.

I mean, this clearly isn't Earth-65 or based on it.

[up]x6 Yeah, they gabe her Gwen Poole's pink highlights.

[up]x2

It was Silk in that line up, not Miles. And no, i doubt it would work what they're doing.

[up]Plus most people would probably prefer adult Richard Rider/Nova. I would at least.

[up]x2 And this is why DC is better in animation compare to Marvel. They know how to take obscure characters no mainstream audience heard of and write them so well that people watching it will care for said characters. Case in point: Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Batman The Brave and The Bold, Legion of Super-Heroes and Justice League Action.

Also funny when you say who? Cause that’s like the same marketing Marvel Studios used for Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man. Seriously, why can’t the animation department have balls to adapt obscure characters like the films?

Rather sure they're doing just that. I guess you mean "Obscure characters i want".

I mean no offense, but most of the characters on the team in this Secret Warriors feature aren't well know outside of comics either.

Except maybe Daisy.

[up] I just edited that as I didn’t expect anybody to post before me. It was directed at the guy before you.

And regarding the FF line up, yes I know it was Silk buy I went with Miles instead since I like the guy (or I could of went with Ben Reily, Flash Thompson or Anya; honestly I never cared for Silk).

Like Prime, don't care about RID so I don't know.

Yeah, Marvel seems to care about popular characters and fresh ones; obscure ones are used as fodder to guest appear in random episodes at best. And while I like New Warriors, the whole idea was to sell brand new fresh team of young underused characters and guess what, that's no longer them. It's the same concept here, just without name that will become quickly dated and ironic.

Am I the only one who looked at Quake and wondered what Gogo from Big Hero 6 is doing here?

Isn't Spider-Gwen from another dimension? I suppose this will not be the case here, maybe that's why she has different codename. I can't think of other reason, what it ages her?

I miss Patriot's old costume. This one is literally just Captain America - especially since we just got black Cap with white colors and red glasses.

Villain is...Hala? Not Hela? This must be mistake, Hala is name of Kree homeworld -*intense googling*- ...''Hala the Accuser'?!'. And I thought Thane was death of creativity. That's like naming superhero Canada.

Yes, who would take on the mantle of their place of origin to show their love and faith for the land from which they hail? Surely Captain America would never approve of such blatant nationalism.

IT'S "CAPTAIN" AMERICA, THAT'S DIFFERENT! There is Captain in front and it's not his actual name anyway! You can call him Captain or Cap or Steve, but literally no one calls him just America! Nooo oooonnneeeeee! This more like Super Friends logic when they named hero El Dorado. And just because I'm a nerd - Hala was also occasionally used as exclamation by Kree, so it's kinda like naming yourself Jesus (Or WTF).

[down] Except Hala is her birth name not code name.

And it's "Hala the Accuser". Accuser is a prominent rank in the Kree military. The most famous example would be Ronan the Accuser, who served as the villain in the Guardians Of The Galaxy live-action film.

You do know that there are people named Jesus, Right? There are also people named Dallas, Paris and Dakota. Your argument doesn't really work.

And by your own admission, you're not familiar with the character Hala, so it's a bit much to say she's the death of creativity.

And yes, Patriot's costume is different, it's the new Patriot. He wouldn't be using Eli's costume.
