I'd say that 4's anime was only so good because Yu was such a weird goofball.
It's been 3000 years…The 4 anime really wasn't any better as far adapting the material went, but things like Yu's dialog carried the anime for a lot of people.
Yu was made into a Total mad man, and it was amazing to watch.
Watch SymphogearSo it seems the main problem with the show is a failure to adapt or portray the game's tone as well as the characters in it... What about Ren? I've fallen behind in my watchings of many shows, but what is he like?
Ren's character is kinda bland, there's not many moments in the anime where it really comes through. P3!Makoto and Yu had their character much more easily communicated to the audience.

The P4 anime did a decent job with awakenings although the plots were done very quickly and the dialogue was more important than the action. They spent their money on a few specific battles.
However for ‘Ms Post-Apocalyptic Raider’, she needed the budget to just get her rage across.
I agree. I think without them going full Cloud Cuckoolander with Yu, that anime would've ended up really forgettable just like the Devil Survivor 2 and The Golden adaptations.
Which sad because that was one of things people liked about Usagi.
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’The Golden anime was the worst. The P5 anime doesn't "blow me away," but it definitely doesn't bore me to tears. I look forward to it every week.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.If nothing else, the P4 Anime at least gave Yu a solid personality and tried to flesh him out as an individual character. P5 doesn't even try to do that with Joker. Hell, they kept Izanagi for Yu because they knew it was a cool Persona design and fit him as a character. Meanwhile, the P5 anime fuses Arsene, a beloved Persona design, only a few episodes in.
I will say, the only good thing to come out of the last episode was child Makoto, who was adorable.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Fusing Arsene is a forced event in the game, you dont really have a choice in the matter. Arsene even says they'll meet again in the climax.
Apparently it's not, some people have avoided it by getting and fusing Pixie and Pyro Jack(I think) for that tutorial. However, Arsene does say it whenever you guillotine him for the first time.
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’Yeah, it isn't. I know that because I kept Arsene until I think the Third Palace. And even if it was forced, that was a game thing. You shouldn't follow that 1-1 in an anime, because it's a different medium. Because outside game context, it means the audience loses his cool and iconic Persona, and he just gets some random ones.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...I haven't been here to railroad with my negativity, but I haven't enjoyed it all that much. It has some decent episodes that are enjoyable, but they literally zap anything enjoyable out of the main plot.
The fact that they portray the Phantom Thieves as 100% saints in the latest one is even worse when followed by Yusuke's comments they aren't normal Phantom Thieves, even though supernatural Phantom Thieves are a thing. It sours it even more because they treat getting any profit as a bad thing, when motherfucking Arsene Lupin himself helped people by undermining corrupt figures even as he stole stuff. Combined with the blandest interpretation possible for Ren and it's just plain not enjoyable. Especially when the reason they didn't cram the game with normal Schoolevents was because they all took a thrill and excitement from living as Phantom Thieves, which is, y'know, a thing all PT feel.
At least I have Granblue Fantays Persona 5 event, even if it suffers from Joker not being given characterization too. And they actually know what Phantom Thieves legit do because one of the Gacha characters IS one.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Man. It's a shame this series just lacks the punch of the game it's based on.
Remember the first episode of the 4 anime. How awesome Yu's first awakening was. Then remember how balls out nuts they went with the Golden version of that same part (and I stopped watching The Golden near the end, though not nearly soon enough).
But this. It's just been lacking.
One Strip! One Strip! So is there no new episode today?
One Strip! One Strip! There was a new episode today.
The episode was on Yusuke's confidant.
Yeah. I just caught it.
We also got some actual detective work out of Akechi. Does that mean that not all his cases were solved purely through Metaverse shenanigans, or is the anime trying to tone him down a little.
One Strip! One Strip!Pretty sure in the game he outright says all the cases he "solved" were due to confessions via Shadows or causing them, so going with anime toning him down.

‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’I love it when they do confidants. Yusuke's smile is so pure. I didn't feel too overbeared by Akechi. Yet.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.x2 Yeah it is an anime only thing.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Yusuke got Ren to do the pose in the church.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"New opening.
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’
The 4 Anime wasn't even all that good either tbh, but it was four years since the original game when it first aired, so I'm sure some people were a bit nostalgic.
Persona 5 is already GORGEOUS, so it'd be hard for an Anime to top that without going all out with production, which this series clearly didn't.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
